If you don't want to use a mod, it will be easy to find what you like using an LUT. You subscribe from the workshop and turn it on in the graphics options in game. It's absolutely harmless. Here is a pack of very good ones so you can go through and hopefully find one you like. :) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1889738001&searchtext=
However is it possible to get a modified version with more pale/white-ish sands? (Often as seen from above) I've been looking at Caribbean photos for inspiration and the sands in Cities Skylines often appear more yellow (and sure it is up close), even from above. Maybe it's an camera thing, where the sunlight being reflected by the sand that makes it appear more white-ish.
There is a bit to learn about the workshop and the game - when people run into problems with performance or crashes etc, it's almost always going to be something related to workshop stuff. The game itself is rock solid. It's when we try to add too much stuff or mods that conflict with each other that we bork our own game. :D
Unrelated but also helpful to users with low spec computers: if you don't already use it, Loading Screen Mod will optimize your game's usage of your RAM, and can allow you to block the loading of vanilla assets you don't like (which saves a LOT of RAM).
Another way to optimize your game and reduce RAM use is to disable any DLC you don't want to use in your current city, and reducing texture quality to medium. Hope these tips help you enjoy the game more!
Maps are the same unless they are Snowfall or contain mod-required content which is no longer working. Those are rare maps, though.
"PSA: The recent Steam Server maintenance and Client update have broken the Workshop connection. If you're having problems with mods and assets disappearing from your game and Workshop folder, even though you're still subbed, and Steam keeps trying to re-download things, there's nothing you can do. Don't bother trying to reinstall the game, Steam or Windows. Valve has to fix this. Just be patient and go do something else."
But I know how to get this theme working for you whether you're online or not, Steam problem or no Steam problem. Here is the original map theme file.

Place the .crp file here: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\MapThemes
If you want to do stuff with the theme like change the sand or whatever, go ahead :)
Disasters: configured disaster probabilities to match South Pacific region.
Visuals, lighting and colors - Currently adjusting colors and light levels to look correct with no mod and no LUT. Please be patient while the transition is in progress, and if you still use Daylight Classic you can experiment with turning off Classic Sunlight Intensity and Classic Sunlight color. Finding a nice LUT can also help.
I wish I discovered this before I made and published Honolulu, Hawai on a realistic european theme...! Life can be a beach sometimes
Oh well, I just start over again
By the way, I am a fan of your work. Your maps are amazing! Very beautiful!
It really inspired me to improve my editting skills
Thank you!
For just a map, most of the time all you need to do is have the list of trees and any special mods like Network Extensions, and the map theme which is currently optional for players.
So... yes, it would be a big job to have to go look for all the trees :D But to encourage you for the next map, you've got wonderful talent and a unique style!! If you feel like making another using only map editor and publishing it, I'll be glad to answer questions to help you get to publishing. Don't worry about a long list of trees or a special mod in the map's listing. There will be lots of fans for a map like yours! :)
is there a mod to check dependancies of a map/savegame? i am not sure which trees i used overall, i would have to travel the map and make a inventory^^
also i believe its not good habit to upload maps which uses many assets?
i can send it to you by mail, if you send me your adress
