As a minor update in case someone's wondering: I never got around to making the Civ VI version, as I simply don't have the time and tbh the game lacks something in my eyes (or rather has too much stuff, perhaps). Here's hoping for Civ VII...
So I've subscribed myself to 2 mods now, this one and a WW2 one.
When I enter the game it's all good and all, but then when i'm psat the select mod thingie and in the screen where you select who you want to play with, i cant find the additional maps in the additional map list nor the box with load scenario.
When i press play i just end up like i would in any other non mod game mode somewhere on the globe...
Could you pls help?
(If youre still active on CIV 5 instead of 6)
Thanks in advance
Cheers,
Greizer85
In any case, I most likely won't be making another map for Civ V, as I consider Civ VI to be the superior game in most respects. No districts in V is a deal-breaker for me at this point.
I have some suggestions though, for another version of the map, 'cause I am not able to do it myself.
1. Smaller South America so as to open southern sea passage.
2. Reduce number of islands in the Pacific (leave half of them)
3. Cut a line of Sahara, so as to make Africa smaller.
4. Remove many resources, it's better having to fight for them!
If you'll be able to make such a version of the map, please let me know!
Thanks again, wonderful job
Are you high? There isnt a North Western passage, that was a myth. I'm concerned for you, i think you need help 0.0
@Jason I have posted my map for inclusion in the YnAEMP mod, but the main admin said that it might take weeks or even months to include it, as he updates a lot of stuff and 'visits' YnAEMP only sporadically. Come to think of it, I should notify him of the 45 coal in China issue, so that it can be corrected before my map is included in the mod.
I'll add this fix to the so far surprisingly short list of fixes that I'll do to the map if I ever make another version of it... I probably won't bother though, since Civ VI will likely come out this year already. :O
In any case this seems to be a common enough issue that I'll update the description with instructions for 'enabling' the map. I guess Civ V still has some new players after all these years (or people who are picking it up again and have forgotten how this works; I wouldn't blame them, as Firaxis made sure it's as non-intuitive as possible).
3) How good is your computer? If you try to run Civ V on a pc that barely meets the minimum requirements, it can crash when the game becomes too taxing for it. Turn 35 does sound extremely early for this though. The problem is compounded by switching between strategic view and the regular one, or using mods to reveal the map; for me the game often crashed on my old computer when I used the IGE mod to reveal the entire map at once. Even though I closed the mod and the map returned to all black, the game sometimes crashed a few turns later.
Hope that some of this helps... Get back to me on it, and if anyone else is having the same issue, please report it.
1) Did your civ start in the correct place, i.e. where Paris is located irl? If not, then the problem is most likely that you didn't check the box 'Load Scenario' before starting the game, which can lead to all kinds of weird issues. And ofc even before this, you should enable the 'mod' (really just a map pack but the game labels it as a mod) in the mod selection screen.
2) Did the crash occur when you pressed 'end turn' or when your scout encountered something? If it's the former, at which point during the loading process does the game crash (i.e. is it the turn of some specific civ, the city states or barbarians)?
