I already figured out how to open/modify the pak files, I just don't know what I'm doing with the code to get all the way there.
The main reason I did it is so you know the thing is actually active. A lot of people try and combine story mods which doesn't fly in DOS 1. Or they don't know how to activate it from the menu. Read through the list of questions in the comments from the last 6 years and that's almost all of them lol.
The other possible problem is you have two mods active at once, D:OS 1 doesn't really support mod combining.
Can the host simply create the 4 characters (via this mod) and then have the other 3 players join once you're at Cyseal Beach (via the 4 connected players mod)?
I know it would take the "fun" out of character creation but my group and I are looking to recreate our DOS2 characters. I'm the host and can mimic character builds.
Anyone knows how?
Not for 4 players. Just 2 players, 4 characters in total and the Xnc bags crafting mod.
I think the game's dialog system works with no more than two player characters. Might be wrong though.
The whole game was developed with two heros in mind. Some things could maybe be adjusted to work better for players 3 and 4. Doing that - even without any dialog changes - would come close to a complete rewrite of the game.
That's the reason why players 3 and 4 are treated as "butlers" by the game, they are basically little more than normal companions internally.
Are you trying to run more than one mod at a time?

The mod is a 4 character creation mod, the optional 4 player part comes from a different mod where you have to download a patcher an edit your .exe file. .exe files cannot be pushed via a mod or I would do it.
For the join order after the creating is done, I don't believe there is any specific order needed just assign the characters to the right players.
second thing: I am confused by some posts here so maybe you can help me figure it out
After the host has instelled the mod and activated it in the game (start screen changes)
1. you open an multiplayer game (only a second player should join)
2. the second player can join
3. create the first 2 chars
4. hit accept button
5. create the next 2 chars (done by the first two players)
6. hit accept again
7. see yourself at the beach
8. save the game (what abaout the link between the chars, does it matter?)
9. everybody can join (is there a sequence which player needs to join to get his char?)
10: Have fun and thank the Mod Creator :-)
is this the way to do it? Because I always get the error that says each player should have a main char.
