what has happened to the development of this mod?

I have no clue how to do a mergeable mod, and I don't really have time to try anymore. Also, my mod modifies a bunch of files (items, research, workshops, materials, world gen...) so it'll surely be complicated to make it mergeable.

Is there any way to potentially have this as an addon mod, to use with modpacks?

AFAIK, gun barrels material doesn't change the damage. If I'm wrong, then I suppose titanium.
Bullets (and bolts) deal piercing damage, so orichalcum is the best material for them.

What is the best metal for gun barrels? What about bullets?

Is this compatible with other mods, or only addons?

You can make workshops buildable after a research (just like any other building), but I don't think it's necessary. It would only make it more complicated and that's not good. It may require some new sprites if I want to do it good. Also, sprite integration is the one thing I just hate when I do video games/mods.
And if that's what you were thinking about, no it won't fix the "any ore" problem.

Is it of any benefit to maybe have a different workshop ('foundry'?) for smelting the more advanced metals...? Can you make workshops appear at higher levels of research?
BourrinoSprotch  [autor] 4 ABR 2016 a las 3:46
The "any" option should be back for slivers. I don't think disabling sliver melting would be worth having 5 different options for slivers, without the "any" option. And you should not be able to get the new metals via prospecting (by default, only a selective list is enabled)
rft50 3 ABR 2016 a las 16:21
The Author could just make it so you can't get Silvers from prospecting.
Sami 3 ABR 2016 a las 16:06
Since you can smelt the slivers regardless, is it possible to reinstate the "any" option on slivers only? Since those turn up semi-randomly, that one gets *painful*.

This issue with the forge comes simply from the fact that I forbid the player from making tungsten/mithril/orichalcum/titanium right away. And the only way to do that is to remove the "any" option. I agree it's a bit annoying, but there's no way around it.

For the fact that you can't smelt the new ores, it's just because you did not unlock it yet (via the Smelting lab). I did that to prevent players from rushing down to -70, get the new ores, and get a godlike army beginning of year 2. You should unlock it at research level 8, which is after the "faster steel" level.

I like this a lot so far, but it has a couple of minor issues with the forge.

The "any..." options are gone for both slivers and ore, which gets kind of tedious/annoying. Also, there's no option at all to smelt any of the new metals from ore (although it works fine from slivers).

I have no other mods installed.

Wow, This mod sounds awesome. I needed an excuse to start a new kingdom, and it looks like I just found it!

The spear idea is awesome. "GNOMES!!!!! WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION!?!?!?"

They look like stormtroopers whith the white armor. :steamhappy:
okiemarine 30 MAR 2016 a las 13:45
Ok. I appreciate you taking the time to look.
BourrinoSprotch  [autor] 30 MAR 2016 a las 13:44
Ok, so I had a look at Tacyn's mod.
First, I'm not sure how to do a mergeable mod.I I've googled a bit but can't still figure out how.
Second, his mod modifies metals (notably steel's recipe). To merge this, I'll need to hard code the merge myself (meaning I can't just do a "mergeable with everything" version. This will not work with anything that mods what I modded)
BourrinoSprotch  [autor] 30 MAR 2016 a las 13:28
I did not check anything about merging mods. I'll download Tacyn's mod and have a look.
okiemarine 30 MAR 2016 a las 12:36
Any way to use this alongside Tacyn's mod?
