I tried this on WOTC and 350 mods.. The game wouldnt load..

PSI ops and SPARKS gain no XP; in my last playthrough a year or so ago they did...any way to change this back again myself via some config shenanigan I haven't discovered yet?

Something odd here. I got the "hidden perk discovered" message for Mentor Stamina when one of my dudes got promoted after a mission.

Since these mentor bonuses are implemented as AWC perks, it seems they can be randomly aquired by any soldier -without having lead any patrols- instead of the hidden perk from the AWC list. And it seems that this prevents soldiers from aquiring their 'regular' AWC perk.

I don't know if this behaviour is due to this mod, LW2 or 'A Better AWC (LW2)', the only other thing in my load order that's messing with AWC perks.

Does anyone have a fix?

To whom it may concern: Works fine with LW2 (at least here, ~170 other mods alongside).

I have one question though: How can I influence the chance that my "Drill Sergeant" mentor gains this or that particular mentor bonus?
I stuck a slow-*** Master Sergeant in there 10 times, hoping to get the Mob bonus, but all she got was Mentor Confidence 9 out of those 10 and 1x Mentor Toughness. Another dude (who was already rather quick) got Stamina 2x out of 5 and is now basically an energizer bunny specialist...would like to be able to edit this somehow.

great implementation and exactly as the tin says. yay!
... unfortunately the base values are definitely OP. a single patrol route leveled up all of my rookies to squadie (i had about a dozen new faces at the time, so it was VERY noticeable). If there was a way to limit the number of soldiers that gained experience it might be more balanced. ^^;

Same here -- they only show up on the Squad screen (and that requires another mod to display the skills there)/when they're standing in front of Firebrand, about to leave.

I seems to behave oddly with LW2 -- I get the EXP a bit befoe the Patrols are complete, and some troops go from Rookie to Squaddie, while others (mostly non-rookies) gain 4 or 5 ranks out of the blue (note -- when using a max-rank trooper as the "trainer."

Also, what's the difference between the Mentor skills (Toughness and Reflexes)?

Are the Mentor X perks supposed to show in the soldier's character screen? I'm getting the message that says they've been acquired, but they're not showing and I'm not sure if the bonuses are kicking in.

Have encountered a weird issue where it won't let me put anyone on patrol. The button is there, but if I click it, it asks me if I want to cancel veteran training. I have the same issue with the LW Leadership mod. It may be a clash with other mods, since I have quite a few. I'm guessing maybe the LW perk mod, but I can't be certain.

@RealityMachina, I think I may have figured out a bit of info to help with the blue room problem. I've been able to consitently cause it when I have someone leading a patrol and then I complete a mission. After the tactical battle when I return to the Avenger, the blue room is there. It seems to also be related to whether or not any of my soldiers on the mission earned a promotion, although I haven't been able to confirm that part. Also, using lots of Mods although the vast majority of them are merely cosmetic. Hope this helps.

Hello. The "Making (Wo)Men Out Of You" achievement doesn't appear to be tracking the number of patrols in my current campaign. The label is "0 / 20" when I've done at least 2, probably 3, so far.

Rolled out attempted fix for blue room bug, hopefully it's an issue caused by the outdated method for altering templates I didn't get around to fixing until today.

Alternatively, if it's a mod conflict - the ones I'm using relevant to the base management side of the game are:

Long War Laser Pack, Long War Perk Pack, More Squad Size Upgrades, Show Enemies on Mission Planning, Uniforms Manager, Blackmarket Usage, Experimental Item Unlock, Advanced Modular Weapons, Set HQ Location, Mission Time Remaining, True Retroactive AWC and AWC Healing Rework.

(I use a lot of mods, so if a conflict is causing this, then I'm hoping someone with a shorter list can narrow it down some. I haven't even listed my cosmetic or tactical gameplay mods.)

Seems to be more Blueroom discussion happening here than on the other version of the mod; I found myself with the same issue with the GTS version.

Eventually I resigned myself to not getting that room back, consoled in a replacement GTS instead, and stopped using the patrol training option in the new GTS (contrary to my comments on the other mod version, the patrol training option did reappear).

If RealityMachina is having difficulty reproducing the bug, then I'm wondering if it's a specific set of circumstances that'll trigger it and part of how some players (but not all) use the User Interface.

For example - when training completed, I tended to click the button to go directly from the geoscape to the training officer in the barracks, then tap ESC to return to the geoscape. I'm wondering if doing that can make the game believe that the training facility (either GTS or DM) is still 'open', and hence won't let you re-access it (since the game believes the facility is already open).

I have the blue room saying it's EMPTY as well. My defense matrix also break down after 2 uses of patrols.

I just want a clarify from this mod, when I add in a Sergeant+ solider to patrol, am I suppose to add in another solider somewhere for the pair to go on patrol?

What have been happening is:
1) I put in a Sergeant+ solider to patrol
2) wait for 10 days
3) A few of my soliders would get rank up and sometimes one of which could get injured

I thought this mod was to add a pair so solider so higher ranking one get a new perk while the lower ranking one gets an additional rank.

over the last few days i deleted my defense matrix, rebuilt it, and was able to do 2 more patrols before having the leader (a different soldier though) get stuck again. Went ahead and deleted the defense matrix and rebuilt it again, becuase having the extra experience for the "B Team" is such a huge help. Really hard to say which mod would be conflicting with it, as I do have 110 active. Just thought I'd let you know, it is a repeatable bug. Thanks!

same kind of issue that winc

1) Built the defense Matrix, and manned it with an officer.
2) Officer Gained mentor perk after 0 day (instant when you open geosphere)

i look in XComRM_VeteranSlot.ini file and i see only 7 ranks ( line 25 to 31)
and i use Long War Perk Pack and in this mod we have 8 ranks, maybe is the cause of this issue , Patrol Training: Defense Matrix Edition is not compatible with Long War Perk Pack ?

I'm having a bug where I can't start any new patrols, because the guy leading the old patrol is psuedo stuck in the slot... He is available for missions, and it doesn't say that there is a patrol going on. However, his name is stil listed in the slot in the defense matrix. When you click on it to remove him it says "If you remove him any progress on current patrol will be lost etc". But after I agree his name is still there like before, and I can't start a new patrol. Any ideas? Thanks!

I'm using a mod which alters rank names. As a minor thing what would I need to change in VeteranTrainingDefenseMatrixEdition.int so that the hardcoded word "sergeant" would be replaced with the appropriate rank name I'm using?

m_strTrainRMVeteranDialogText=Soldiers of sergeant rank or greater can lead junior soldiers on patrols with the Defense Matrix, increasing their experience when the patrol ends. They will be unavailable for field duty during the teaching process. Do you want to proceed?

Presumably it's some kind of %VARIABLE... Would %RankNames[3] do it? That seems to be the relevant one from XComGame.int [XComGame.X2ExperienceConfig] [X2ExperienceConfig]

Incidentally, there's a small typo in this text (missing a letter "e"):

Okay worked out what is going on.
1) Built the defense Matrix, and manned it with an officer.
2) Officer Gained Skill and levelled up and she was nolonger on patrol
3) Added another officer to the matrix and it suddenly had the problem again

I had just completed the UFO Defense mission, however if I didn't add another person to the patrol the issue would not happen.

I have both this and AllSolidersGainXP mod installed - so not sure if they would be conflicting.

I have a save before the issue, and can replicate it now (successfully) so if you want some logs or something more than willing to supply what I can.

Thanks for your reply - I am in fact trying to see what is causing it to break by restarting back before I created the DM and taking note of what happens after built. I have a lot of mods so it is possible something is not working well together, however Mod Launcher isn't telling me of any conflict.

Thanks again for your reply I will get back to you with findings to hopefully help - since this is one of the best mods!!

I have legitimately no idea how you people are breaking the mod, I've done defense missions with this installed and after training people, I've yet to had it to break.

Hit the same issue myself, and too far into the story to want to start again without the mod. However, removing the mod doesn't fix this.

Can't seem to figure out how to remove the DM also, so now I just have a blank room with nothing in it. Not sure if it will work if I get attacked by a UFO again.

Any chance of a fix for this - since it has been broken for a while. Or - could you please put a warning up for everything that it is broken?

So I have the DM version of the mod. It's a dang shame, because I like the idea of it, but I had to do a defense mission, and when I got back it's bugged. The DM got replaced with an unselectable blue room.

It's a shame I didn't read the comments, because this seems to be an increasingly common bug, and it kinda ruined the game for me.

Is it possible to disable gaining the mentor perks from Advance Warfare Center? I like the idea of gaining it through patrols, but I don't want them to gain it randomly while leveling up.

I noticed that when I have troops that have been promoted to SGT using only the defense matrix (never been on a mission) that they cannot equip PCS items.
