Yes I have the same issue with broken file

I do hope this is still functional, but if it's not I get it,

I still think ck 2 is better than 3 though lol

I had my power go out (no UPS) and I had a heart attack I'd lose my progress in my current Ironman game, then I found this mod. However after making a backup, the new save file under the CK2IBT_BACKUPS directory shows as BROKEN SAVEGAME in the CK2 Load Game menu. Am I missing a step? Or, is this method no longer supported with ck2 v3.3.5.1?

also: good stuff, hope the rewrite goes well

I'm not the author but I can definitely say that I just tested the naming scheme thing on a file where it was in the format Ironman_<blah>.ck2, where "blah" is any text string appropriate for filenames and not just the primary title (I was starting play as Henry the Young King and "Perche" didn't feel appropriate/informative enough) and the g and b commands definitely worked, so I guess we can name the save file anything so long as it has the "Ironman_" prefix at start? (not that I'm sure why you'd remove that unless it was to shorten it, but at least we have a few more naming options now)

Hey! love the mod. have you removed the restriction that stops it working with save files that do not adhere to the default naming scheme (i.e. "Ironman_<Primary_Title>.ck2")? it does not seem like you have or am i missing something?

Oh sorry, I didn't realise you were talking about cloud. This tool works with local saves. I don't have the game installed, so I cannot verify right now, but as I remember, there is a checkbox to switch between local and cloud save when you create the ironman game. For an existing game, try to see if you can find it in this folder:

...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<your steam account number>\203770\remote\save games

If it's there, copy to the local saves folder:

...\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\save games

Then try making a backup with CK2IBT ('g' command, then 'b' command)

It´s the specified error that comes when the "savefile doesnpt exist yet", the thing is, I saved it on the cloud and have no freaking idea how to bring it back to local.
Cynther  [author] Aug 20, 2020 @ 2:35pm
Kaiser Gagius, can you copy the error message?

I need help, I want to backup a cloud ironman game, so the "mod" says it cannot find it...what can I do?
Cynther  [author] Mar 13, 2020 @ 5:44pm
Lord Civers, you can restore a specific save by specifying the backup number (number in parentheses in the file name, not the in-game year). It will most likely be the one with the highest number unless you kept playing from the year 1142 save.

Ok guys I have a problem. This mod is working just fine but I'm a complete idiot. I've just ruined 100 years of my current ironman game by loading the wrong save in the console.
This save (year 1142) has replaced my current one (year 1250) in the loading menu, however my 1250 one seems to still be there. I haven't loaded the 1142 yet out of fear I'd erase my 1250 one (which I've good reasons to think it's still intact).

So my question is, how can I load the save I want ?

Thanks in advance to whoever can help my poor self.

Hi, I can't manage to install the mod (i'm not good at computing :( ). The installation tutorial say I have to "unzip CK2IBT.zip in the ..\Crusader Kings II\mod\ folder (the one in your Documents)" but in my "Documents\Crusader Kings II", i haven't a "mod" file (Have it only in the one in my Programs). When I try to open it other way, a "Dos" like page open for half a second then close.
Could someone explain me how to install this step by step please?

How can I get this to work with my saved games for the AGOT mod? I'm looking for something to stop the game from crashing and giving save errors.

Hello, sorry for the late answer.
The DLC must have broken something, re-reinstalling the mod worked for me. The save folder is still the traditional one, but an error telling me the save did not exist would keep showing up in CK2IBT when taking the name. All is well now, thanks and again, I love your mod :)
Cynther  [author] Dec 14, 2017 @ 4:18am
Thank you :) I don't have the DLC, but with the new patches alone it works fine for me.

1) Did you found an empire or otherwise change your primary title? If so, the file name of your save game may change.
2) Can you tell me which folder your save game is located? Perhaps the new DLC changed it.
3) Type 'settings' in CK2IBT. Does the file name of the save game match the file name in the "Game" setting?
4) Do you get an error (from CK2IBT or in the game) when restoring an older save?

Great mod.
However, after the Jade Dragon DLC and the following patches I cannot backup my saves anymore. The warning I'm given says the selected save game does not exist at the moment. Ideas? Thanks
Cynther  [author] May 8, 2017 @ 1:45pm
Most likely :) It's been a while since the last update, but unless one of the new DLCs/patches has messed with the save folder, I don't see why not.
PwnyStark May 7, 2017 @ 9:58pm
This looks great! Does it work with the current versions? Thanks for your hard work!
Cynther  [author] Jan 14, 2016 @ 4:33pm
I created a discussion about Linux compatibility - no need to continue that here.
Cynther  [author] Jan 14, 2016 @ 8:13am
Yeah I had a hassle too, switching from OpenJDK to the official one =)

If you put the jar directly in the mod folder, it will complain about it's location. At the moment, it requires the location ..\mod\CK2IBT\. But maybe that was what you meant.
The Stalker of Shadows Jan 14, 2016 @ 5:16am
AHA!!!! After a bit of tweaking I got The script set up so you can run it from outside the install directory! Assuming you put the jar file in the Defualt mod folder you can now Call the program from the desktop for example. Took me a minute to remeber the correct Variable.

BTW i Tried to test OpenJDK and not only did it not work It trashed my Normal Java install as well and had to redo it. So yeah.
Cynther  [author] Jan 14, 2016 @ 4:46am
Yes, and google has at least a couple of ways of setting it up. I think the reason it didn't work with OpenJDK was that the default option with apt-get installed java 1.7, not 1.8. It will probably work with java 1.8.
The Stalker of Shadows Jan 13, 2016 @ 8:19pm
It runs Perfectly. I even Restored a test back up i made and the game ran fine. No corruption at all. The game Saw it as an Ironman save and didn't lock out Achivements.

I use Orical Java any ways. Open JRE has came a long ways, but it's still not prefect.
As for the double click thing some Executable Jars allow it.
Cynther  [author] Jan 11, 2016 @ 6:21pm
I couldn't get it to work with OpenJDK, but with the latest version (jre 1.8_u66) it seems to run just fine. Haven't done a full program test yet, but it can backup and restore. I am not running CK2 through the virtual machine though, so maybe you could comfirm for me that loading a restored save actually works?
Cynther  [author] Jan 11, 2016 @ 3:32pm
That was what I meant. I don't have linux, but afaik you can't just doubleclick a .jar by default. What happened when you ran it? Were you able to backup/restore?

I am going to install a virtual ubuntu so I can test it out and make the necessary adjustments. You are very welcome to make a launch script, and if I end up making an official linux version, I would much appreciate your help testing it.
The Stalker of Shadows Jan 11, 2016 @ 8:17am
I did actually. Nothing seemed to happen when trying to run it by clicking on it. However xecuting it via Command line works fine. I'm actully writting up a Bash Script to launch it. I posted that before i realized it simply a jar file. I can pass it along when im done if you want.
Cynther  [author] Jan 11, 2016 @ 7:23am
Most of the underlying functions should be cross-platform, so it should be possible, yes. Haven't done any cross-platform testing though. The .bat is just a convenience for Windows-users, it is not necessary. Have you tried running the .jar directly?
The Stalker of Shadows Jan 11, 2016 @ 5:58am
Sounds Handy. If you're on Windows! Any possability of porting it to Linux or Mac? I'm A linux user so it's out of the question to run a Bat file.:steamsad:
