There is natrual disasters with helis.

I love this so much! And the retextured cars are a great bonus to even out some of the other mods I have for police cars. (Police Tanks are fun, but not when they're half your city's traffic)
DJweeder☦ Feb 2, 2017 @ 7:38am
Very, very clever. I like it a lot!
BloodyPenguin Dec 5, 2016 @ 9:07pm
You should consider updating this to become a true helicopter :)
Officertrainman Dec 1, 2016 @ 2:26pm
Dose it respond to calls, and if it does will it have a siren?

Thank you, you sir are a pioneer! #trendsetter

I won't use the choppa maybe but this was one of the funniest explanation text that I've ever read:steamhappy:

Excellent your mod, good idea! But could replace the helicopter by balloon and dirigible. It would be very nice to have colorful balloons and a dirigible flying through the city day and night (illuminated), such as balloons and dirigible in SimCity or "Atomic" in GTA V. Many players would like!
T-TaaN Apr 10, 2016 @ 8:28am
Can you please do fire helicopter?
tony_r_68 (Zed68)  [author] Apr 2, 2016 @ 11:07am
@Giovanni E. : If you run into trouble with that propeller effect, just ask me again. No problem at all. (oh and I hope your Comets won't crash like the real ones did :p )
EvangelineE Apr 2, 2016 @ 10:45am
@tony_r_68 (Zed68) yep, thats the plane, im doing a few old planes found alot in the 50's. i already did a DC-3, now ill make a constellation and a dehavilland comet.
tony_r_68 (Zed68)  [author] Apr 2, 2016 @ 10:31am
@Giovanni E. : Oooh. A lockheed constellation ? What a beautiful plane !!
EvangelineE Apr 2, 2016 @ 9:42am
@tony_r_68 (Zed68) ahh okay thanks ! i might try this on my soon to come constellation model.
tony_r_68 (Zed68)  [author] Apr 2, 2016 @ 6:22am
@eugenio.desideri82: Thing is that at the moment all flying objects follow "routes". if we could create routes in the sky ourselves, there would be a way.
tony_r_68 (Zed68)  [author] Apr 2, 2016 @ 6:21am
@Giovanni E. : The alpha map of the rotor is made of a pattern of black dots of different sizes. It will work better at certain distances (because the game will try to average the texture as it always does).
EvangelineE Apr 2, 2016 @ 5:43am
how did you make the rotor illusion ?
Nicholas Feb 16, 2016 @ 10:33pm
I know how to give it a track, Use Service Vehical selector Mode, then get UK police Box, then make a underground network where you want the copter to go, making it look like it is flying over buildings, but won't do any good for your city unfortuantly, this is only a way to make the heli look realistic :l
EnioHabev Jan 8, 2016 @ 9:40am
any chance to put the police car re-texture separate from the helicopter? the re-texture looks good
eug3n1o Jan 7, 2016 @ 12:57am
plus the ability to make "car labeled objects" hover across streets & roads , is something the
could be used to have other type of veichles like trike or quad moving around the city but off the asphalt....
eug3n1o Jan 7, 2016 @ 12:47am
is there a way to apply the " aircraft movement policy " to the chopper ??
i explain myself better : why an "aircraft labeled object " can fly over the city and a " car labeled object " can move only on streets ?
Jack Nov 22, 2015 @ 11:37am
i want to be able to fly it with a joystick and stuff

I want a SimCopter mod for Cities: Skylines.
Iceman-460° Nov 19, 2015 @ 8:21pm
cool love it
MyDynastyWillLiveOn Nov 19, 2015 @ 4:25pm
ok, just thinking aloud lol. that wlould be awesome with your cars, the vanilla ones are kinda boring after a while
tony_r_68 (Zed68)  [author] Nov 19, 2015 @ 12:36pm
@MyDynastyWillLiveOn : For now there was no other way of doing it. Plane assets act as planes and cars assets like cars. Yeah there are restrictions, but it still will give you some choppers patroling over your city, and that's better than no chopper at all ;). I hope someday CO adds helicopters to the game (who knows)... or that a modder manages to create a different thing (maybe hack the planes system or create invisible "sky roads".

Yep maybe I should release the police car as a standalone. It's much better to look at than the original one and is very light.
MyDynastyWillLiveOn Nov 19, 2015 @ 10:42am
couldnt you use the aircraft lines for the chopper of place your own 'patrol lines' or set out a district and set one to 'patrol the area' within?? just thinking outside the box here, there seems to be a lot of restrictions for this asset and i would like to use it but i use a fair amount of tunnels so i doubt it would work for me.

that being said, well done on this awesome asset. i love the models of both the chopper and cars. will you be uploading the police cars seperatly of will it solely be a part of this asset??

great job again bud, really good work =)

I'm thinking about helicopters, and other flying vehicles, such for firefighting, hospitals and police. However, using the same concept you can do flying cars for futuristic stuff. That's another idea I wrote on paper for further implementations to the game. I don't know any idea how to mod, otherwise I would been doing that cool stuff, but I trust you, modders, that you can do it. Hope you find a worklaround for the chopper. It doesn't need to follow a path to reach X point like cars and such. Somewhere in the game you may find the right file to change the collison status, so the helicopter will fly through cars, if they are an "obstacle".

Besides that, each time I read "limitation of the game" on mods I think why Paradox don't fix that instead of "expecting" that some modder do it. To me that's unfair for all of us.

I hope you can make a good mod of this, because you have a great idea :)
tony_r_68 (Zed68)  [author] Nov 18, 2015 @ 11:57am
@OwiHH [NC] : The mod will be able to spawn only one vehicle, yep. But it means you would have helicopters appearing only at one point. (but still this is a very, VERY useful mod).
OwiHH Nov 18, 2015 @ 11:51am
Use service vehicle selector mod, may someone find a solution to create a new uniquw vehicletyp with changed values for gravity and physics since unityengine allready uses such values.
tony_r_68 (Zed68)  [author] Nov 18, 2015 @ 10:15am
@[Delta ²k5] : I tried this... but you must have the ground as a pivot point, some of my tests had me laughing to tears :D
[Delta ²k5] Nov 18, 2015 @ 10:00am
Yeah, both ways would have down and upsides - a big plus would maybe be the possibility to add "extreme" leaning and swinging values to create a more realistic behaviour in mid-air, but for sure the way you did is great!
tony_r_68 (Zed68)  [author] Nov 18, 2015 @ 9:54am
@[Delta ²k5] : Well as you said, it would leave an empty place in the traffic, but you would also have cops appearing out of thin air when the non existing car reaches a crime scene ^^
[Delta ²k5] Nov 18, 2015 @ 9:51am
Thats really a nice and creative idea, but does it need to have the cars model down on the road under the helo? Have you tried to remove it and leave the models origin simply in place ? - or is it just a "design" thing to avoid an empty space between cars right under the helo?
tony_r_68 (Zed68)  [author] Nov 18, 2015 @ 8:59am
@MrMiyagi : Yes it makes sense only as a police helicopter, watching traffic.

I thought I would make a firefighting one... but it would look silly. ;)
MrMiyagi Nov 18, 2015 @ 8:55am
Very cool!! "This helicopter will get stuck in traffic jams" That's perfectly realistic. Obviously, the police helicopter is after that guy in the stolen vehicle stuck in LA traffic :D
TPB Nov 18, 2015 @ 8:32am
AWESOME! very cool, Zed, get it? lol, thanks for this man.
