I need to come back to this
Landmind Sep 14, 2019 @ 10:58am
Love it, but it does not show up in Structures Plus (Open Source) Mortar and Pestles version.

A small mater that should not deter others from using it, if they know it only works with the Vanilla version.

However I need portable stuff as I camp travel and I do not like leaving stuff behind.
Real Life camping rule, If you packed it in, you pack it out.
Also I hate demolishing things as its a loss of resources.
Consequently a portable M&P and other such things are a must for me.
But for others, I imagine not so much.

As such, this is a good little mod that should not be too quick to passed on.

Whats the Steam ID from that? :)

Hey, can you create a mod that gives us a new tool: the "Berry Harvesting Mesh" (or picking stick)?
Gwizzz Mar 4, 2016 @ 4:14pm
You should combine your mod with Simple Food Recipes mod. Your mod uses the M&P that keeps losing your recipes everytime ARK updates and their mod uses a complete new crafting board. Win-win for everyone.

Oh well, no big deal I'll just keep replaceing and thanks for the handy mod.
OniKenji  [author] Dec 9, 2015 @ 10:02pm
I've noticed this myself. It has something to do with the game being updated.

Am I the only one that has to replace the morter and pestle every time I log in ?
I'm playing SP b.t.w.
I have other mods running but no other food/morter mods

Personally I think that any mod that Adds items to vanilla structures isn't entirely stackable because it then DOES modify a core file even it's just a loading table of some sort. Anything that adds new items to crafting structures should be given a yellow puzzle piece as a warning that this item is stackable but may not work with other mods. The best bet to always get a truely green stackable mod is to make your own crafting station for it. Even if the item is just a replica of something already in game (until you or someone you convince to can create a new mesh). This way people with heavily modified servers don't have to worry about mod conflicts as much and can just drop in a new mod without issue. I always tend to favor mods that either A) are crafted in the inventory B) have their own crafting structure.

That makes complete sense. I was just suggesting a fix for any mod that might replace the vanilla M&P. I have not come across any incompatible mods yet, and your's is near the bottom of the mod list. Thank you for making this mod! Much better than eating x100 berrys:steamhappy:

Part 2/2

If the mod is a replacement, that would mean it's more basic then the Mortar and Pestle, or the related structure, and is being made as a new structure. If this is the case why would they just keep both structures, Mortar and Pestle and MODMortar and Pestle as two separate structures.

TL;DR Sorry for wall
Basically it should work with mods that mess with the mortar and pestle if not try my mod first in the priority list. If it still doesn't work let me know the mod so i can test and experiment, Thanks.

Part 1/2

@Egyptian, thanks for the input, the way it's setup right now should just add onto the existing structures. If you know of a mod that mine doesn't seem to work with tell me. I'll can see if i can fix it. If it comes to it I'll make a new structure.

The only way my mod might stop functioning is if a mod that adds its own version of the Mortar and Pestle, which replaces the vanilla version, in which case the order of the mods might fix that. This is getting more into the tech side of making mods so I'll try to explain without getting anyone lost.

If the mod is an extension of the vanilla structure then it should inherit all the vanilla info and then the modder would make changes to it and replace the vanilla. In this case If my mod is before their mod it should be fine.

Onikenji, you could add something to craft your items just for the people who need it, like make it optional, so that people with other mortar mods can still use your mod by making an optional crafting object :) Just a suggestion!
Crayons_Only Oct 28, 2015 @ 3:21pm
What about making your own Mortar and Pestle or using one that is already made like the Alchemy Kit mod?
OniKenji  [author] Oct 26, 2015 @ 4:47pm
Alright thanks He3.Charlesnchrg. It would seem that that way modding currently works, when a change is made to something, like I'm adding new things to the mortar and pestle, if another mod makes similar changes then one of the mods gets discarded, thats where the load order comes in. So I think I can fix some of the issues you might have by changing how i added the engrams, but for the mortar and pestle I can't change that. The only solution to any issues there would be to make a new object to craft with, which is something I'd prefer not to do.
Crayons_Only Oct 25, 2015 @ 10:13am
Here's the skinny: This mod seems to need to be in the top of the load order. I am not a modder and don't know why. It does not work with other mods that require top spot in the load order.
Crayons_Only Oct 25, 2015 @ 9:44am
Ok, I got it. Seems that Infinite Flare Guns will not work with this and i'm ok with that. Turned it off and have this running. I'll check and see if any of my other mods are having trouble and post again.
Crayons_Only Oct 25, 2015 @ 9:38am
I have, Naturally Terrific Colours*, Infinite Flare Guns*, Improved Spyglass*, Joan's Egg N Poop Collector*. *all working.
OniKenji  [author] Oct 25, 2015 @ 3:30am
@He3.Charlesnchrg How many other mods are you running?
Crayons_Only Oct 24, 2015 @ 11:35pm
I can't get this to work. I tried putting it in the top of the order, starting a new game, building a mortar a pestle, and nothing I seem to do works. I can't find the engrams in the list anywhere.
Booty Scootin Cigarette Oct 23, 2015 @ 7:17am
Great mod thanks

Spoils in 2 Hours!

Can't you add a preservative or maybe a food vacuum packaging machine?
Vacuum packaged meat and berries last a lot more than 2 hours.
Kyra Drachenlady Oct 19, 2015 @ 7:10pm
i know, it isn´t the first mod i use ;) But i can´t see it near the mortar or down at the other mods
OniKenji  [author] Oct 19, 2015 @ 6:42pm
@Kyradrachenlady If you try to play on a server the server needs to have the mod installed on it for it to show up
Kyra Drachenlady Oct 19, 2015 @ 3:46am
i can see it in sp but not on the server :O
OniKenji  [author] Oct 18, 2015 @ 11:46pm
@Kyradrachenlady They should be right after the Mortar & Pestle
@Onyxheart Thats what these tests are for. Thanks for the input I want to make them an earlier and slightly easier to make substitute for jerky and the spoil time it to reflect that. you get more in a single bite but the spoil time is much shorter. It's more a fun vs realistic problem, if more people want it this way though I can change it
Kyra Drachenlady Oct 18, 2015 @ 5:46am
i missing the engrams for the recieps :O or are the to find in the beacons like the other recieps?
Onyxheart Oct 18, 2015 @ 5:03am
Pemmican should last much longer than 2 hours, the native americans used to make the stuff and it would stay viable for many seasons as long as it didn't get wet (so it should last as long if not longer than jerky)

in fact the meat used in pemmican was basically jerky pounded into a fine powder, perhaps alter your recipe to reflect that?
m9ke Oct 17, 2015 @ 11:30am
is this a clean mod? ie does it effect any in game items (with the mortar and pestle could you make a new item a berry blender or something)
Evolvei Oct 17, 2015 @ 7:02am
Need more info
Draco1122 Oct 17, 2015 @ 2:52am
I am interested. Have a few question may want to add them to desciption. So they are foods right? How do they compare too cooked meat? Do they spoil if so how fast?
Mr.Hishprung Oct 17, 2015 @ 12:17am
I will try it :happy_creep:
