tengo bajado el CE via steam y no anda el launcher porque me falta el "Comunity Edition mod base" XD bajo este, y aun asi marca error wtf (?)

This mod does nothing, you just need to switch to the beta branch that has CE. Then when you run the CE you'll see new mods added. most of them are map packs and then there's a few balance changes. the CE also lets other modders configure various settings normally inaccessible. Overall other mods end up requiring it. Personally a lot of the maps are utter shite and the AI tweaks are annoying. This mod will make AI turn into a bunch of campers, and the shitty maps have hardly any cover so you get to run in no mands land while getting sniped from roof tops or high ground that all the enemies will be camping on. It's hot garbage TBH. The AI isn't really any much "smarter" but just plays much, much more defensive and causes tactical matches to become tedious. It even seems to make the AI more predictable because of this. If you want to make sure all your guys survive you'll spend a lot more turns than ever before. Otherwise you can sacrifice them to save some time.

the fact that all these improvements were skipped by the developer... it makes me resent the game. i don't even want to play it with mods. stop releasing unfinished games.

@Jazuke Taizago, as discussed on the Steam forum, it is either a inter-mod compatibility issue, or a mis-understanding of the vanilla GUI, but you have realized that already.

Not sure if anyone pays attention, as last time anyone commented was 2022. But i decided to get this game and play it, using this Mod and a few others, that adds some extra spice.

My issue is that for some reason, i have Employed Scientists, for example. But they are no longer available despite finishing their Projects. New Hires is available...till they are used, almost like they are consumables. Same apparently applies to Engineers, but i can't even Hire them for some reason, despite having the Living Quarters for more dudes.

Am i doing something wrong...?

Please contact me if you want to translate the game in another language. It is a long process but it might be possible.

@Blinko: I confirm this on Linux (actually using Windows files through Wine). Also, when I downloaded mods from Golhawk forum, I manually installed them in the game's /mods/ folder (see below). Perhaps this also work with Steam Workshop (moving a mod's folder to /mods/, and then unsubscribing/deleting) but I haven't tried yet.

@LordBlade: a late answer but in any case: you'll find a /mods/ folder in the /assets/ folder in the game's installation folder in Steam (something like /steam/steamapps/common/Xenonauts/).

@ChtulusSpy: you can get a quite comprehensive knowledge about what CE does and does not, by peering at the few xml config files that are included in the mod's folder (using notepad on a copy would be best). For more details however, you have to dig deeper into the files (for example, those who define units or planes, if any). Expect a lot of spoilers though, about mechanics you don't already know.

To those who wonder, CE is not in French, it is just that:
1) some odd French players offered to translate the whole game (and CE), and this was agreed by the team;
2) the FR localization is considered like any other submod embedded within CE;
3) it is activated by default when you install the CE beta.

All you have to do is to disable (uncheck boxes) any FR-tagged mod in the launcher, so that they don't overwrite the EN content, and you'll have XCE in English.
You would do the same for any translated mod that come in two "submods": original and translated.

why is the CE in french?
For those that are confused (I had to read it thrice as well.) You don't need to download this mod. You can just go into Properties for the game on steam, and under the 'Betas' tab you can select the option [with the same name as this mod] for the same effect.

I'm getting a constant error message when I try to run the game. It's telling me the mods aren't active or in the wrong load order and if I would like to fix it.
I click yes, the game runs and then when I boot up the game again I get the same error message.

Also, does this mod increase sebellian accuracy and vision range or something? They aren't acting like the xenopedia description at all, and have an annoying tendency to snipe at long range. I can't even use smoke because of their heat vision.

For those that don't understand:

Essentially, switching your game in the properties, and Betas Tab to "community - Xenonauts:Comunnity edition" is what downloads this mod - NOT pressing the "subscribe" button.

This steam workshop page is, more or less, just here to inform you that 1) X:CE exists, 2) how to do it, and 3) to tell you "pressing subscribe does nothing - you need to use the betas tab".

Had to disable this. Added a lot of good stuff, but some of the AI changes made it feel like the aliens can see through walls. I would set up a breach, then the aliens would step out and grenade my guys despite having hidden for the entire duration of the setup. I wish there was a way to disable the AI changes while maintaining the rest of the changes :/

Is there a way to disable the alien's ability to reaction fire when opening UFO doors in this mod. I like all the other features this mod adds except that one but the fact that it makes breaching about 3-4 times more difficult for no reason completely counteracts that.

I crashed to desktop upon firing a rocket in the first mission of the game with this mod (used via steam settings). Only have music mod and armored assault mod (wasn't using vehicles that mission)

Anyone else getting crashes after a mission ends, doesn't happen 100% of the time but it's pretty often? Any idea how i might fix it, it has to my knowledge always happened in this game and i just get sick of it and sack it off after a while and have never completed it as a result. It's happened on various PC's as well as i know it's not limted to just my computer. Any ideas?

X:CE changes Reapers to actually deal damage enough damage to punch through any armor with their attacks. While this is a nice thought, this means that they can now kill tanks in one hit. The mod's creators may want to take this into account when allowing Reapers to actually deal damage instead of simply killing soldiers regardless of HP and Armor.

"Installing this mod is not sufficient" to me implies that it needs to be installed together with the beta branch. If it's not used anymore then it should just get deleted or marked obsolete.

if y'all actually read the description, under the section labelled "IMPORTANT:", it says quite literally that you do in fact *not* need to install this patch at all:
