Thanks for everything you did.

Thanks for your time!
Brightstar  [author] Feb 9, 2016 @ 8:29pm
I've decided that I can't keep putting time into this mod.

ARK's dev kit is glitchy to the point of being unusable and its capabilities are nowhere near extensive enough to do the job on this RIGHT.

So to all of you who have used the mod, I appreciate your time. If somebody wanted to take over the project they'd be welcome to, though at this point you might as well just start over. The recent rebalancing has turned this into something very close to a do-over anyway.

(To be clear it still NEEDS the work, I've just had to choose between this and other projects.)

Thanks everyone.

Any updates, Brightstar?
Brightstar  [author] Jan 16, 2016 @ 4:03pm
I'll try cooking again tomorrow, Baron.

Part of the problem is that I don't understand the best way to structure my files, so a lot of trial and error is involved.

I've not given up hope, just struggling to find time to work on it.
Baron Jan 16, 2016 @ 3:59pm
I heard the devkit recently got a update. Any luck with it now?
Brightstar  [author] Jan 11, 2016 @ 12:46am
lol. Thanks. ...I've been fighting this for two weeks trying to get the mod to cook with the new devkit.

It's really not cooperating. I"ll get an update out as soon as I can guys. Sorry for the wait.

Appreciate the comment Roxxors.

I apologize for not getting a new version out yet everyone. I've been fighting with the dev kit. I need access to the new map extension features in order to make this NOT be an extreme pain, and they're not available until after the winter wonderland event is over.

Needing to fight off dinos while taming an end tier dino (like a giganoto, or rex) would be pretty awesome, like alert carnivores dinos in a large area
Brightstar  [author] Dec 25, 2015 @ 11:10pm
I've heard that it works with small dragons. I haven't seen this for certain myself.
HGDB Dec 25, 2015 @ 10:10pm
Will it work with the small dragons mod?
Brightstar  [author] Dec 19, 2015 @ 11:00am
@Ninnetyer Noted and thanks for the update. Let me know what else you run into. Always good to have more info
Ninnetyer Dec 19, 2015 @ 10:36am
Well i've tested this with the mod "dino overhaul", and the following issues are noticeable, still don't know if this is because of my private server have in the config the dino max count increased x3:
- The spawns are huge, you will see in water tons of corpses of dead fish, they just die trying to get out of water, (I think is a conflict in the AI of sea animals)
- It increases the loading time (a little more), though "Dino Overhaul" increased the loading time by an amount of consideration.
Didn't test beyond one hour, still I will have to choose between the two, liked your mod, although I would like to suggest you add more dinos (something like apex the more animals the best). Cheers
Bedrock Dec 19, 2015 @ 8:58am
its ok its soo funny tho lol
Brightstar  [author] Dec 19, 2015 @ 8:19am
Also: I've been trying to do an update for days, folks. The dev kit is fighting me tooth and nail (deleting map files randomly and other random stuff just to make life interesting.) I'll get it done as soon as I can.
Brightstar  [author] Dec 19, 2015 @ 8:18am
@CrZyDukes thanks, but if you want more items it might be best to add a mod that just adds items. (That type of mod will almost always work with Hostile World.) And yeah, it's tough, glad you like the added challenge, that's exactly what I was going for.

@real scp 682 The ocean is bugged right now. The megalodon masses is intentional. The stupid plessie hoardes are not intentional. I'm trying to fix that right now.

@Ninnetyer I doubt it will work because I messed with all the spawn tables. ...Feel free to try it, though. You're not going to make anything permanently break by trying. If it doesn't work just remove a mod, restart and destroywilddinos.
Bedrock Dec 19, 2015 @ 7:58am
i had to deal with 2 mossosauruses and a crap ton of meglodons that formed me into a ball and im never going into the sea for now XD
Ninnetyer Dec 18, 2015 @ 12:48pm
You think this could work together with dino overhaul?
tvr Dec 18, 2015 @ 10:46am
I really love your mod, died lots of times due to the challenge. I was just taming a level 96 Trex when i out of nowhere get jumped by an alpha sabertooth, of cource i was a little mad but it adds to the survival element and it never stops! On the other hand one thing i would love to see is, more guns, weapons. I think that having an LMG would be amazing. Also a Magic Staff !?
Brightstar  [author] Dec 14, 2015 @ 1:47pm
Thanks guys. ...Yeah the waves of dinos thing would be cool. ...Right now I need to get the mod updated (add things like penguins and fix the plessie/mosa problem).

I'm also going to add a couple other surprises, but major mechanics changes like that won't be happening this version. (I'd like to have the version out tomorrow, but I can't promise.)

@Henk I'm not sure what you mean by "End tier dinos." You CAN get mosas and gigantos, but you can't tame alphas, and as far as I'm concerned you never will.

I'm assuming you could use a scorpion to tranq other dinos, and tranq darts definitely work fine at end tier.

I really appreciate the encouragement. I'll keep working on it and try to keep it updated (life is busy). I'll also look into the "waves of dinos" thing--see if i can make it a reality, since you guys like the idea.
henk de Clown Dec 13, 2015 @ 9:04pm
"Taming high level dinos involve fighting off waves of hungry carnivores" this is what I was thinking as well. Current taming is so bland.
Was wondering once you reach end game tier: You are able to get the weapons and armor? would you be able to get end tier dino's?
and maybe use a dino to get a dino mechanic? instead of tranqing 100 arrows in the face.

awesome work on the mod. Really adds some pve spice in the mix
simonjs Dec 12, 2015 @ 5:47am
i would really like that fighting off waves while taming
Brightstar  [author] Dec 6, 2015 @ 9:27am
Yes, it is TC. No idea whether it would work with the difficulty mod you named or not. I don't know how that mod affects the game. (Best way to find out is just to try it. You won't hurt anything by trying it.)

Also: I'm hoping to get another version out in the next day or two. Keep your fingers crossed.
Ninnetyer Dec 6, 2015 @ 8:20am
Is this a total conversion mod ? also is it compatible with the mod Difficulty 50+ ? thanks in advance Brightstar.
Brightstar  [author] Nov 12, 2015 @ 11:55pm
I just released a new version. Mostly bugfixes and upkeep. Added the giganoto and made sure the mosas and plessies couldn't beach anymore. (As well as a few other minor things.)

Alphas are all glowing again as far as I know, though a permanent fix for the devs' current alpha glow problems may take til next devkit update, as may a revamp of broodmother spawn for more consistent drops (Sorry Fina).

I do have a treat for y'all though

Refrigerated Feeding Trough. ...Should make hatching way less painful.

Let me know if you find any bugs, folks.
Nollas Nov 11, 2015 @ 3:26pm
definately going to give this a try. I will let you know how it goes.

(And thank you, Fina. I really appreciate the encouragement.)
Brightstar  [author] Nov 9, 2015 @ 8:41pm
This mod does not require a wipe at all, to my knowledge.

All it *changes* is spawn tables and whatever new dinos spawn in.

On the other hand, real end-game play hasn't been tuned fully, only the leveling process, so things may change on you as I do that tuning, and to get the full benefit of the mod, a full wipe would be preferable for you, I'd say.

You WILL want to destroywilddinos
Nollas Nov 9, 2015 @ 8:03pm
Currently running a server and I have been looking for something to make the game more of a challenge... This really looks awesome... I am assuming this mod requires a fresh wipe?
Vrexira Nov 9, 2015 @ 4:07pm
Hello Brightstar

Thank you for the answer.
I will waiting for your update - thanks for all that information =)

As well, your mod is really nice and made the gameplay much better. I like to play it even without the giganoto :P

Keep up the good work!
Fina
Brightstar  [author] Nov 9, 2015 @ 1:46pm
Regarding the Gigantosaur: It may or may not be added to the world yet with my mod.

To explain this I have to go into how it works just a little bit. My mod edits the spawn tables everywhere on the map. I AM using "child" spawn tables, so *hopefully* the gigantosaur would be added automatically with the update, but it is always possible that it didn't get added for some reason.

I can't actually check on this, though, until the next version of the devkit goes live. Right now the Gigantosaur files aren't available to modders because the devs haven't released the 222 devkit.

Once I'm able I WILL look into that.
Brightstar  [author] Nov 9, 2015 @ 1:46pm
Hi Fina,

Great to hear from you.

1. The broodmother's drop rate is a bit glitchy still, apparently. I thought I'd fixed that.

I'll try to go back over it in the next release and re-build the loot table to see if that helps. (I've had problems with getting the blueprints to drop consistently ever since I first added a loot table to broodmother. I suspect a problem somewhere under the hood in the code, but I really have no idea. I'll keep hunting it.)
Vrexira Nov 9, 2015 @ 8:27am
EDIT:
Hii Brightstar

I recieved an Originator Blueprint right now - seems like it works very good!
Sorry for the trouble about that, but after the third summon of the broodmother i got 1 blueprint :)

..but still, i can not found the new giganotosaur ;)

Hopefully u can fix the Giganoto :)

Best regards, Fina
Vrexira Nov 9, 2015 @ 7:43am
Hii Brightstar, really nice mod so far!
Everything worked very well.

..but i have two questions:

- How can we craft the Originator Armor?
(We killed Alphas and got some of the new resources, but we can not craft them in the hand, smithy or fabricator. We defend and killed the Broodmother and recieved not a spider egg :D After spawning the dragon and killing them, we dont get a blueprint. Same like the broodmother, we recieved only the flag, not a spider egg but no blueprint for the new armor. Did we miss something?)

- Is the Giganotosaur added or not?
(Since i installed this mod, there isnt a wild Giganoto spawning itself. If we wish to get one, we have to summon him with admin command. Can you fix this please?)

Thanks in advice and again, great mod!

Best regards, Fina

Odd. Both steam and the hosting site say it's 21000.

Glad you found it.

Will look for you there sometime in the next few days :)
katux Nov 6, 2015 @ 6:47am
ok at last i found it, one more thing the port is 21001, not 21000, ill give it a try
Brightstar  [author] Nov 5, 2015 @ 6:47pm
@katux added an IP address. You should be able to add it to your steam favorites.

Also: The server was offline for awhile this morning becuase I messed something up. That may be why you missed it.

All set now and will be up for the foreseeable future.
katux Nov 5, 2015 @ 6:01am
cant find your server by those directions :/

I have been playing on Hostile World now for about 3 weeks and am really enjoying the play style, this mod is challenging and time consuming . You are rewarded for carefully thoughtout decisions and punished for poor ones.

This mod requires team work to accomplish all but the most meanial tasks, Think you can survive alone without a tribe? Want to take on a Alpha rex with anything but a high lvl Rex? I would love to see it.

The best words I could say for this mod is it adds the challanges needed to keep the Vision of Ark alive for the long term.
