YOU CAN GO TO YOUR "LIBRARY" AND CLICK ON SOURCE FILMAMAKER (DON'T OPEN IT JUST CLICK ON IT ONCE.) AND LOOK TO THE RIGHT AND YOU WILL SEE A LIST OF DLC'S SO THEN YOU CHECK THE BOX THAT SAYS "LEFT 4 DEAD CONTENT PACK" HOPE THAT HELPED.
I was hoping to avoid bothering you cleaning out the airport, but I can't seem to work out why I can't even open much less edit the map in Hammer like you can.
(Hammer starts to load the maps but then crashes just before it finishes loading them.)
The map itself and lighting are ideal, so I would really appreciate getting my hands on a cleaned version of the map if you can manage to get around to it.
BTW, Thanks for your offer. I've been trying to get help and answers from others on different SFM forums as well, but encountered a lot of rude SFM snobs who aren't interested in helping the new guys at all.
So I've been fumbling around in the dark, and literaly been wasting hours trawling the internet for whatever I seem to have overlooked???
And ill see about removing some of the props in an updated version for ya. may take some time tho cause school started so i have less free time :(
This map's "design layout" is exactly what I''m searching for, but I need it to a basic sandbox with most of the original furniture removed.
For example, I want to turn the aircraft runway into a military evac area, but there is a lousy baggage truck and carts right in the middle of where I want to set it up.
The airport lounge is full of seating and other props that take up floor space, and generally get in the way of props I want to replace them with.
I can't ask you to really clean out the airport of all the furniture inside and empty the building for me.
But I would appreciate your help in cleaning up the map a bit more myself so I can use it.
In terms of the map not running, I would make sure there are no errors in the map. use the "Check for errors" button. Also make sure you dont have tons of entities as this takes up the entdata, that usually has to do with lights, props, etc. If you are still running into problems, make sure there are no leaks in the map. the quick fix for that would be to just put a big hollow square around the whole map and texture it to skybox.
the cleanup maps themselves, I just take left 4 dead, fix anything that looks broken, change the skybox a bit and the lighting, and we got a map. This one took longer because this was actually two maps, and required a bit of block editing to get the entrances just right.
When I decompile BSP files with BSPSource so I can modify them in Hammer, most of them will crash Hammer when I try to open them.
Some maps will open in Hammer, but then fail to compile when I "run map" after a few any minor modification is made to the map.
Seriously, Hammer is getting old and it's really starting to show it's age now.
Besides Hammer, are there any Map Building software that can make BSP map files that work in SFM?
