The tree model and textures are included inside the map file and should work by default

are css and hl:e2 needed for textures or soundscapes? ive had workshop stuff have soundscapes that require those but don't require their textures.

What do you mean when you say "that gives me an idea" about the similarities to The Long Dark? Are you planning on adding a map from that game? If so that would be amazing!
