@Ctrekoz: good point, just tried if I can update it here, but cant get modbuddy to work anymore.
So yes, please use the civfanatics links in the description for manual download
Ctrekoz Sep 5 @ 8:58am
Heads up but seems like October patch is not here, download from civfanatics people.

please check if it works if this is the only mod you have active.
I just tested the mod alone and it worked fine, also tested with the base Community Patch (no other part of it).
A minor bug was fixed in a newer version, but it does not the problem you described. Still it might be better to go here: https://forums.civfanatics.com/resources/fortress-borders-mod-overhaul-outposts.23986/ and also read the description, eg. it will not claim tiles in range of 3 tiles of any city.

You can also check ...\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Logs\Lua.log file and search for "Fortress_Borders " if it shows any errors. It at least should show up one time, saying that the mod was loaded.

@quickshot: I dont play with Vox Populi, so I unfortunately dont know this =/
quickshot Jan 21 @ 6:27pm
Is this Mod Vox Populi compatible?
Be_Le_Me Apr 16, 2019 @ 6:33pm
Awesome Mod, thanks!
Aaronthelemon Oct 21, 2018 @ 4:26pm
This appears to break cities changing hands
Darklord Morius Oct 19, 2018 @ 10:13pm
Excellent Mod!

If you copied the lua, it gets assigned to constant 8192, which looks visually like it belongs to the capital. I find there are problems when cities start changing hands from there. I'm experimenting right now with using some code from another mod that assigns the territory to the closest city. If it goes well, I'll post to here.
Serp  [author] May 4, 2018 @ 3:32pm
hm... I don't remember well... I think it belongs to the capital...
16BitPotato May 2, 2018 @ 3:57pm
Where does the territory go? Does it belong to the nearest city?
Serp  [author] Nov 30, 2017 @ 5:29pm
It is independend.
16BitPotato Nov 28, 2017 @ 7:02pm
Does this mod require Fortress Borders, or is it independant?
Serp  [author] Sep 6, 2017 @ 3:06pm
@SaintDamien: I copied the artwork, so no requirement ;)

@Kiltzombie: To change maintain costs, it is just a simple number you have to change.
Search for CIV5Improvements_Vorposten.xml and change the "GoldMaintenance" to 0
Chip Sep 6, 2017 @ 10:34am
How hard would it be to have a zero gold upkeep version of this?
SaintDamien Sep 6, 2017 @ 8:30am
just to double check, ddo i need the "Improvement - Lookout Towers" Mod for this to work ?
or was the artwork only copied? thank you

I never played with community patch, since I only play multiplayer with my multiplayer modpack (that uses whowards dll instead).
I can't imagine any reason, why it should not work with CP and unfortunately I don't have the time to study that big mod.
It works flawless without community patch.
You could test it without CP (and with whowrads DLL instead), just to make sure it is really CP to blame.
~Panda Apr 16, 2017 @ 8:05pm
using BNW + community patch ofc incase that helps any
~Panda Apr 16, 2017 @ 8:05pm
this doesn't seem to be working. the outposts build but there's no borders
Gurdy (508th) Nov 23, 2015 @ 10:16pm
Is this compatible with the Community Balance Patch?
Serp  [author] Oct 7, 2015 @ 8:27am
A minor bugfix, that is not uploaded to steam yet (because it is not that important and maybe there will be another bugfix soon.. and it is complicatoed to upload a mod to steam):

@GameBoyz:
No, the outposts will behave the same. So they will take/give back land like described in my description.

@Mapkoz:
What problems do you have? Error message?
Mapkoz Aug 21, 2015 @ 6:51am
somehow I cannot get the mod to work on BNW...suggestions ?
Jarkel Aug 13, 2015 @ 1:57pm
Is this compatible with Cultral Diffusion?
Charsi Jul 21, 2015 @ 5:20am
Hmm next time I enable the mod I will paste it here. Apologies.
Serp  [author] Jul 21, 2015 @ 5:18am
@ Charsi :
And do you tell me which error you got, so I can look into it ? ;)
Charsi Jul 20, 2015 @ 12:30pm
Lua error reported - FireTuner spat the error at me while I was testing my own mod. I may have an out of date version, but it seems unlikely.
Serp  [author] Jul 20, 2015 @ 12:03pm
@WunderbarSoviet:
No.
For AI it is just an improvement that costs 5 gold and gives 35% defense, so usually they won't build it. Even if they do, they will build it within their territory.
I'm not able to change the AI.
SpaceRaider IV Jul 20, 2015 @ 11:59am
Are the AIs smart enough to build outposts?
Charley Jul 19, 2015 @ 10:10am
ok cool
Serp  [author] Jul 18, 2015 @ 1:33pm
@ charleywhitesell:
Yes ;) But you can't work this tile, unless it is in your working range of your city.
But you can:
- gain access to luxuries and strategic ressources.
- heal your units faster
- upgrade your units
- and all the other things you can do in your territory
Charley Jul 18, 2015 @ 1:13pm
So you can build any normal improvements that you would be able to if a city had gotten the territory?
Serp  [author] Jul 18, 2015 @ 3:10am
ah okay.
No I had no such possibilties in mind while creating the mod.
So if you take land by military which is owned by an outpost, it could be that the outpost takes the land back... but I'm not sure.

So I think you should just test out what happens and report back, maybe I can solve it ;)
Anakin_the_Green Jul 17, 2015 @ 11:38am
The names I put are actully the names of the mods which add those features. Sorry about the confusion. /real

oh and the vanila homesteaders are settlers (Siedler) and you need to conquer cities in order to occupy them with military units. :) /joke
JEELEN Jul 17, 2015 @ 8:43am
@Serpens66 I think he is referring to the Cultural Diffusion mod, one of whose options is to occupy tiles militarily.
Serp  [author] Jul 17, 2015 @ 2:14am
@ Anakin_the_Green:
Hi, great you like it :)
I'm not sure what you mean... I play the german game, so sometimes I don't know the equivalent to some english buildings/units. What are Homesteaders? And how to occupy territory by military?
Anakin_the_Green Jul 16, 2015 @ 9:22pm
I am going to have fun with this....

How does this work with the Homesteaders or Military Occupy territory becuase they both take tiles. Would they work like the Citedels?

BTW editing comments are slightly annoying
