It should still work though I haven't tested it in years.

Does this mod still work with BNW?
QuantumPaws Jan 13, 2017 @ 10:12am
Sadly, this crashes my game when using it with CPB. Really liked it though!

Sometimes just clicking subscribe isn't enough to install certain mods. Recommend doing a manual install if you are having problems.

1. download the mod using one of the links above
2. open the package with WinRar
3. extract the contents to:

Authenticity of pikemen in the bronze age is a moot point since the mod doesn't work anyway. Subscribing OR direct download...
ForevaNoob Wonemorturn Jun 5, 2016 @ 2:00am
Subscribe doesn't work. No manual DL. Well...
Hellsingoff May 20, 2016 @ 11:28pm

Hmm i'm not sure about the authenticity of the pikeman/era but I'm glad to see some more diversity for the ancient era. Bravo :steamhappy:

Jeelen please do me a favor
Erectus Sep 16, 2015 @ 8:02pm
I would have to completely agree with @JEELEN on that one, Pikes are a Medieval weapon.

Nice try but where are the war-axes?
JEELEN Jun 11, 2015 @ 9:41pm
@nathan The phalanx was a battle formation originally developed by the Sumerians. what you probably are referring to are the Greek hoplites, who fought with spear and shield. Although the length of the spear would ultimately grow very long (as in the Macedonian phalanx), nobody would call these 'pikemen'. A pike is a long spear, often with a hook, that was only developed in the Middle Ages, specifically designed to combat the armoured knight (another medieval development). So no, there were no 'pikemen' in the Bronze Age - if only because pikes were iron weapons, not bronze.

@Novu I don't care at what point pikemen are introduced in CiV: it lets musketmen arrive before cannon, for crying out loud... At any rate, it's your mod, you can do with it what you want.
Novu  [author] Jun 11, 2015 @ 2:30pm
I am not convinced JEELEN. Pole and Pike type weapons were used all throughout history. Some were iron and some were bronze depending on the technological level of the civilization. You still have not explained why Pikeman should be at civil service and not Metal Casting.
Nate5544 Jun 11, 2015 @ 1:33pm
@JEELEN
they did have pike men in bronze age. they are called phalanx the greeks used them
look it up
JEELEN Jun 10, 2015 @ 9:07pm
@Novu Persia didn't use bronze weapons. and pikemen didn't exist til after the development of chivalry (to which it was an effective response). It literally has nothing to do with the bronze age, which ended around 1,000 BC at the latest (except in most of Europe, which was relatively backward).
Novu  [author] Jun 10, 2015 @ 6:02pm
@JEELEN Yes REALLY!
In most strategies players use, Civil Service gets researched before Iron working because they are beelining for Universities. That would put Pikeman in the bronze age but this also happened in real history.
Historically in many cultures civil service existed before Iron working for example in Egypt and Persia which were highly developed societies in the bronze age.
The issue is Pikeman being too easy to get by skipping Iron working so I updated the mod to move Pikeman to Metal Casting.
JEELEN Jun 10, 2015 @ 9:05am
@Novu Bronze Age pikemen? Requiring Civil Service? Really?
Novu  [author] Jun 10, 2015 @ 6:40am
DeathMarch that was true even in gunpowder times. During the US civil war more soldiers died of gangrene than died on the battlefield. This was in part from the fibers of their uniforms becoming embedded in their wounds and causing infection.
Hannibal Barca Jun 10, 2015 @ 1:27am
Because getting dirty clothes particles pushed into a wound was death sentence.

Historically in most parts of the world men did not wear shirts into battle. See the Gauls, the Greek Spartans, Native Americans, Africans, the Indian Subcontinent, Kmer, ect.
Silverfishv9 Jun 8, 2015 @ 4:27am
what do they have against shirts?
