Orgazoid, please kindly update DAOWAce's adjustment into your zip. I know how to update/extract zips it but many others might not know how and would prefer to just have it downloaded automatically.

@Don Lionheart Which ever mod you are using search in that folder for battle_events or find the txt file battle events and replace it with the download DAOWAce provided.

No need; you can take it and update your mod if you want, probably doing things better if you decide to return to modding CK2.

As for me, I just stumble through things and smash my head against them until they work. I don't plan to make or maintain mods. If I find a fix for something I'll attempt to fix it and let people know, but that's about it!

@DAOWAce I made and uploaded this mod over 5 years ago! At the time the only things that changed the capture formula was the base rate, a few traits and your rank (duke, king etc.)

I have no idea if this mod even works anymore with the new battle events etc.

If you want me to add you as a contributor to the mod I can do and then you can upload the new version you have created?

Capture formula seems to have changed a lot and is now based off multiple things, not just traits (ex; great works features). I'm not sure if Stanners edited the whole thing or if it used to be like that (never modded before), but I applied vanilla values over everything.

I'd rather not take over someone else's mod, so just download this file and replace the one in your "realistic battles.zip" file in %DOCUMENTS%\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod

Still works fine, though the "Rival captured" with no portraits bug is here. But that's a problem with the game itself because it's in all other battle mods too.

Is it possible to base the capture chance on pursuit rates? 25% stock for every battle is a bit too much, and makes battles with the enemy ruler as a commander far too easy, as well as generally finding my prison filled with mayors and unlanded men. Anyway, great mod, adds much needed boost of choice to a pretty bland combat system

How do you uninstall this mod? It keeps reappering after I deleted it from the MOD folder. Other than that issue, it was fun...For awhile. After getting captured in so many losing battles it starts to become a problem.

As other people said, the mod is cool but the capture rate is too high. I fought 3 wars and 1 as an ally and all of them ended with the faction leader getting captured. Once I captured the enemy king when he was leading a small army, so I took my army away from that of my liege and I fought the enemy king, winning and capturing (makes sense). The one as an ally didn't make sense: I couldn't even send my troops that my ally (the freaking King of France) was captured at the first battle. It just doesn't make it real AT ALL.

If OP isn't interested in helping, does anyone know how to edit the file by yourself?

This mod breaks crusades, the pope always lands in the holy land with a 2000+ army, gets captured after being crushed by the muslims and ends the crusade after a few months. I found myself constantly using the console commands to incapacitate the pope during crusades.

Great mod! Makes wars shorter, and more cinamatic. Love riding into battle, knowing that I or my enemy may fall on the field.

can you make it less likely that faction leaders get captured? Historically the knights fighting with a King or Duke etc would try very valiantly to keep the leader from being captured. King John of France was captured at Poitiers and was the only French king to be captured. Playing as England, I have had 3 wars now settled because I capture the King. Very good mod, but some updating would make it much better.

the mod is great but please do lower the capture rate probability, because it comes to that point where fighting with your lord is just unsensed because you'll get captured at the first battle and if you're big enough every war ends instantly at the first battle because you did capture the ennemy lord. I've had too much wars when the king was captured on the first battle.

Yeah, but try searching an entire county for a certain few people. Even with thousands of men at your command take into consideration that they most likely don't know what the people look like. Chances aren't very high that you're going to find them.
When you know your castle is about to come under siege, you don't keep your family inside the castle. So really, I believe the imprisonment/death chance there is right now is pretty fair.

The only thing I don't agree on is that the commander incharge of the siege defence has such a high chance of escaping.

Just a note of thanks for this mod, and also, thanks to Noobier for the suggestions -- I changed the data after I saw a Crusade end in two weeks because the Pope got himself captured. :/

With the values re-configured though, it seems to create a more realistic feel for battles in general. I'm replacing Commanders right and left, rather than the vanilla-style "Your commander will LIVE FOREVAR" mojo it had going. Good stuff. Thanks!

Did you implement Noonier's suggested changes? Also, does this give a human player a large advantage because the AI is too dumb to not have their leaders lead their armies because it's been coded to think about the old way the code sat pre-mod?

I had to make a few changes to this mod, because capturing kings and emperors in battle was to frequent and therefore wars were very short. With 50 for courtiers, 25 baron, 20 count, 15 duke, 10 king, 5 emperor it works way better. Anything else is fine and very cool.
Had my emperor being wounded, crippled and incapable all in one large battle. He died a few month later. This was realy emersive. So thanks for that great mod.
