Great add-on and one I use frequently. Many thanks!
sparker  [author] Sep 10, 2015 @ 2:23pm
this turntable is part of the original route. you can have the whole S & D network by dowloading Bournemouth west to Bath and Burnham route.
zimmiedog1 Sep 8, 2015 @ 11:45pm
Love this route but the turntable at Evercreech Junction does not seem to work.
sparker  [author] Jun 24, 2015 @ 3:54pm
once you subscribe it will appear in the quick drive menu
Rammy Jun 24, 2015 @ 10:03am
I can't find this route at all in the main Menu,it shows up in the workshop but no where else can you please tell me how to make it work. thanks
RolandBP Jun 5, 2015 @ 11:33pm
To Keith 45655 Go into Build and change the name of the route, then when you uninstall it in the Workshop your route with the altered name will remane. But I do not know how you would get on adding other peoples new scenarios to it.
RolandBP Jun 5, 2015 @ 11:13pm
What an awesome route this is.
Keith 45655 May 17, 2015 @ 10:48am
Thanks S . Keep doing what you do well.

Not a thing I have any knowledge of . The workings of subscribing to workshop items is a bit too technical for me perhaps some of the tec savy chaps could help. Takes me all my time to upload the routes.
Keith 45655 May 16, 2015 @ 11:48am
Hi Sparker can you help when i subscribe to this route it comes up in Workshop.and in drive
do you know how i can delete in Workshop but keep it in drive ? a my Workshop getting full.
sparker  [author] May 16, 2015 @ 8:25am
good fun scenario even if I had a head on collision as It took me so long to put the train together I was way behind time. lol
wotawally May 15, 2015 @ 4:57pm
Another scenario using the correct Digital Traction stock released on http://www.wotawallysbits.co.uk/ . This one is a freight run from Bridgewater to Wells
McDerbster May 15, 2015 @ 3:35pm
Thank you so much for posting - the route works really well and the level of detail is something to be proud of! Very atmospheric on a cold winter's morning, looking out for level crossings through the fog ;)
ArtemisKase May 15, 2015 @ 8:47am
very cool
wotawally May 10, 2015 @ 5:36pm
Great work. I have just released a scenario on my site: http://www.wotawallysbits.co.uk/ using the correct stock for the line from Digital Traction. You can do the scenario in one complete go at 110minutes long, or in three separate parts of 45, 40,and 25 minutes
sparker  [author] May 6, 2015 @ 3:20pm
I have now uploaded the section from Bournemouth West to Templecombe. I have not altered the origional route at all.
Fairrosamund May 6, 2015 @ 8:31am
I thought that this is a well produced and realistic new route. The only comment I would like to make having now "driven" two scenario's along it.Is the gap between the station platforms and the train carriages appears to be a bit too wide.Otherwise well done and thanks for sharing it.
TobBirk May 5, 2015 @ 8:43am
Hello Sparker, this looks very nice! Does this add-on alter the original Somerset and Dorset route, so it might lead to problems with existing scenarios? All the best, Tob

@juliancharles
I created a scenario for this route without much hassle, so I can confirm that it works well. The only little annoyance that I found is that all the extension's new stations aren't showed in the start list when creating a new scenario, so a scenario starting in one of them must be set manually using the 2D map.

Does the error that you report show when you set up the scenario or when you create the trains timetables? In the second case, you should pay attention to the fact that the entire extension is single track, and all the passing clearances must be carefully timed in the stations with passing loops.
sparker  [author] Apr 30, 2015 @ 1:16am
I've no idea . I can create scenarios no problem. And other have created scenarios.Any ideas folks.Check the points are set correctly in top view.
juliancharles Apr 27, 2015 @ 4:25am
Hi Sparker, I did a quick drive trip from Evercreech to Burnham on it and i am very impressed. However when i try to create a scenario on the route, the scenario editor won't let me create anything! The reason it gives is-"non bi-directional. Not allowed". Why does it do that? Any suggestions?
sparker  [author] Apr 19, 2015 @ 11:57am
Things are still coming along OK.Still working away trying to get a satisfactory version.
neldot Apr 12, 2015 @ 5:57pm
Hi Sparker, this is good news! I'm eager to play the full S&D from Bath to Bournemouth when you will release it.
Thank you for the excellent work!
sparker  [author] Apr 9, 2015 @ 4:14pm
Hi Folks .

While you have all been enjoying yourself playing this I have been having all sorts of problems trying to add the final part of the jigsaw. with some cheating and creative scenery creation I have managed to finaly get all the stations and scenery all the way from Templecombe to Bournemouth west. I am trying to add some detail but as I am at the limit of the game i dont know how much more i will get. The good news is that there will be a final route shortly although you will have to half shut your eyes and use your inagination in places.

Ps The reason there are no station name board is that I am using the original assets which dont in clude the other station names.

When I have uploaded the final version if anyone can add or alter it and improve it then feel free to do so,.

I do have some scenarios for the Burnam extention but I will up load them after the final version .

I've just subscribed to this route extension and spent some happy time exploring using a free roam I created. Very impressive indeed. However some things I noticed that you could address if you extend it further or do the same to other routes.

Every one of the water towers are wrongly placed. The outlets are parallel with the track when they should be at right angles with the nozzle facing the track.

The gaps between platform edge and passenger stock is bit wide at most platforms. This is more of an aesthetic thing really.

On the Edington - Bridgewater Branch (Edington end) the line speed is 15, then 30, then 40. This last speed change doesn't show on the HUD line profile it just appears on the Loco speed readout. I think this is because the 40 sign is the wrong way round.

Other than that great stuff.

I made a freight scenario for this beautiful route.
The link is here:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=420278007

My route involves shunting and fast freight, it's a bit difficult to complete, also because of the strict timing of the AI trains on the single track line, and the signaling needing some improvement, but it's doable.

Thanks to Sparker for this beautiful route.
Pat5551 Apr 3, 2015 @ 8:52am
Probably one of the best workshop railworks route (considering that you have only used assets from the original S&D DLC ) but what would make it one of the best available on steam I believe that if it is possible you could add the sections between Templecombe & Bournemouth and the GWR section between Bridgewater and Highbridge but still it's a 8.9/10 from me
philips_98 Apr 3, 2015 @ 6:44am
Hi Sparker, Just downloaded and it looks loveley! Just one thing, there are no station names on the extension? Dont like to mention as seems ungrateful but meant sincerley! Cheers!
neldot Mar 30, 2015 @ 1:13pm
A wonderful route, Sparker! Thanks a lot, and keep up the good work!
simon.ann1 Mar 11, 2015 @ 5:24pm
Just come across this route today.... excellent thank you for sharing
sparker  [author] Mar 11, 2015 @ 4:25pm
I've got some basic scenarios I use myself for exploring the route. I will upload them when real life permits. :-)
Bazfm100 Mar 9, 2015 @ 11:36am
very good, i like the manual points as it gives u a chance of going over all the branches in 1 go. i have't stopped playing it since i got it, the only thing i have done 2 it is replace the station lights and put led signals in instead of semephore, looks nice at night with a class 143 on it. just a quick question tho, when do u think u will have senario's for it? keep up the good wrk, many thanks for a blinding route
fegguk Mar 8, 2015 @ 2:32pm
Slow and dirty
toteman Mar 5, 2015 @ 1:37pm
A great piece of work. Thank you muchly.
sparker  [author] Mar 4, 2015 @ 4:08pm
As this is an interim extention when the final part from Bournemouth West to Templecombe is finished then all can be adjusted then before the whole route is made final.
sp762 Mar 3, 2015 @ 4:48pm
Before you finalise... might want to check the placement of the signals in parts. For example, the ground signal controlling the loop at Edington Jct Yard should be behind the home signal.
deargdoom Mar 1, 2015 @ 1:39pm
Re the bumpy track, it's really not a problem, and if it's any consolation, the "pros" can have similar issues as there are parts of WLOS that Keith Ross apparently couldn't smooth out either.

This add on may not be "exact", but it still looks pretty good to me, and if Templecombe to Bournemouth is to the same standard then I'll be more than happy to give it some hard drive space.

Keep up the good work.
AlexK98 Feb 28, 2015 @ 4:34pm
Sparkler, you would have to go to publish it again, though after clicking this route from the list and it validating, you need to click make final. A message should pop up after saying route made final. Though you may need to make another copy of what you have done so far, as final routes can't be editted.
sparker  [author] Feb 27, 2015 @ 3:52pm
I know the track is "bumpy" in places but as i dont know what caused it I have no idea how to fix it. But its only very small length in a very few places so hopefully you can live with it. When does the route change from work in progress to final so you can upload scenarios.
sparker  [author] Feb 27, 2015 @ 3:46pm
Most of the points are manual so if you are making a scenario make sure you have the points set up for the route in top view before saving. Well seen its my first try. Thanks for the kind comments. the rails are down From Templecombe to Bournemouth west and the scenery is working its way north from Bournemouth and has reached Poole. (with automatic points.). Like this add on it is not exact but should provide fun when complete.
[TFA]Wolf Feb 25, 2015 @ 4:48pm
One of the best routes on the workshop, well done.

I especially like how the stations feel real, they feel close to the real thing.

And the fact that you included Glastonbury Tor, as well as that curve into Glastonbury that keeps one on one's toes.

First I took the JT Clan from Evercreech to Burnham and then later the JT 4MT from Wells to Brigdewater.
The route is among the few that I instantly liked, despite the few niggles.

A few niggles only, one of them is that the Signals seem to use the lower quadrant for the mainline instead of the higher one.
Could be me though.

Other than that, I agree with deargdoom, the QD from Wells is a bit problematic.

One other thing, are the points automatic or manual?
Given that the Dispatcher has some problems with the latter type, and that I had to set a few along the way.
sp762 Feb 18, 2015 @ 3:04am
Good news. I found that after the first time you run a scenario, the signals work just fine. I've been researching and building scenarios all week, using Kev Martin's 2MT, the standard 4F and the Digital Traction 3F. Hopefully, I'll be uploading the first set this weekend!
deargdoom Feb 17, 2015 @ 5:03am
Tezwah - there are some Quickdrive scenarios included that you can use.

Sparker - it's difficult to find any fault with this - even if I wanted to. I used to model the S&D many moons ago so have a fair collection of books/photos on the subject and have to say that I'm really impressed. I've driven all of the "branch" now and have a couple of very minor observations - there's a particularly rough section of track from about 2.6 to 2.75 miles out of Highbridge (no, I wasn't speeding!), and the Wells to Bridgewater QD seems to need a bit of point resetting along the way or you end up on the Glastonbury headshunt/going the wrong way - it's really no big deal though.

I look forward to your Scottish route - assuming I have the neccessary DLC - and Templecombe to Bournemouth West would be perfect (large hint!).

Thanks again for this - you certainly have my vote.
tezwah Feb 16, 2015 @ 4:43pm
Ok, thanks mpn.
Leikon Feb 16, 2015 @ 3:45pm
@tezwah This is a route. And it is a little tricky because since there are no scenarios for the route yet, it won't show up until you create a scenario yourself. If you look via Build->Route you can see the route show up as "Along the levels to Burnham on Sea". But it needs a scenario for you to run on it.
Leikon Feb 16, 2015 @ 3:39pm
@Sparker Brilliant work, thank you!
