@Doesntexist Thanks for the report! Now the CD selection window only sees gaming CDs.
Doesntexist Aug 20 @ 11:00pm
Managed to insert a VHS into a pc and now it wont accept any disks I find, think my character just jammed a VHS into a CD slot and broke it lmao

@What.
Like I originally said, have an option that turn on or off the loot tables of items that are post 93, this is not about DOOMM itself, I don't mind it as long as it remains inside 1993, I just don't want this to be like the computer games mod that includes a bunch of modern games like call of duty and other things that simply didn't fit.
DOOM fits, my first comment about the CD's vs Floppy is that I consider DOOM a floppy game, hell you could probably spawn the demo on mailboxes, since that's how DOOM used to be distributed, they would give you a floppy with the first chapter in magazines for free.
Ideally the full release CD should be a rarity, while the demo should be common place followed by the full release on floppy.
But that's just me spitballing.
what. Aug 20 @ 11:14am
Ideal solution would probably be some sort of options setting to decide whether Doom is:
a) inaccessible due to being unpublished by July of 1993
b) extremely rare or hard to obtain, possibly only through a unique event where you find a disc with an early copy of it given to a friend of a dev (or something like that)
c) fully accessible, it was just published a year or so earlier than irl

Regardless, it's not really that big of a deal and that much detail isn't necessary. Probably just an option to disable the Doom aspect would be best.

Doom came out in december of 1993, anyone that doesn't think there was a near finished version of the game in 1993 has so many worms in their brain that it's coming out of their ears. This is the single DUMBEST comment thread I've ever fucking seen.
Uwe Aug 20 @ 5:41am
Zombies don't exist even in 2025. So your argument is invalid.
Hans-Landa Aug 20 @ 4:15am
You wanted to sound witty but all it shows is how stupid you are. Night of the living Dead was released in 1968 so zombies had been a thing for a while.
Uwe Aug 20 @ 12:06am
Do you guys also play with no zomboids because they didn't exist in 1993?
Hans-Landa Aug 19 @ 11:47pm
>No you can't enjoy the game in the way you do it and ask for a simple feature to a mod author to keep the game authentic.
Guys go out and touch grass.
Lisz Aug 19 @ 11:42pm
>project zomboid players when an optional mod from community members doesn't fit in the lore
:GDInsane:
sNeaky Aug 19 @ 6:09pm
hey pro tip if you wanna be time and lore accurate, don't download the mod

WOOOOOW
Hans-Landa Aug 19 @ 12:40pm
The issue can be solved by having an option in sandbox to hide any loot that might be considered not "canon" due to dates, other mods do it with comics for example.
King Aug 19 @ 11:04am
Ashen Tarnished is not the only one who cares about DOOM coming out later than Project Zomboid takes place. I also care.
COffee.7 Aug 19 @ 3:16am
Nice 👍🏾
The Bidding Aug 19 @ 2:16am
computer
Starman  [author] Aug 19 @ 1:50am
@galkinzhenia a bit later
Planteas Aug 19 @ 12:52am
@Ashen Tarnished but you the only one that cares m8
galkinzhenia Aug 19 @ 12:30am
Will there be a Russian translation?
Ashen Tarnished Aug 18 @ 6:22pm
are all of you braindead? I said DOOM released in december of 1993, and the game takes place in July of 1993. The game literally did not exist yet. shoutout to kartoshka wasting two comments to be the most wrong they've probably been in their lives
loading... Aug 18 @ 2:51pm
Do I have to start a new game?
Slaanesh Aug 18 @ 1:04pm
but can it run crysis?
Drumming_Door Aug 18 @ 12:36pm
> TODO: Run Doom

Finally, I would be able to play doom not only on pregnancy tests, but also on PZ
wandererwade Aug 18 @ 7:59am
my pc at the time as I recall was about 3K USD. a blistering 16MB, yes MB, of RAM. 2GB of storage, 486 4dx2-66v(clock set manually on the motherboard)... and other assorted odds and ends.
wandererwade Aug 18 @ 7:51am
@starman - yeah you had to have expensive hardware in 1993 to play DOOM
Nikalus Aug 18 @ 5:38am
Had to unsubscribe and resubscribe for it to work. 2 tile item bug confirmed fixed!
Kartoshka Aug 18 @ 4:03am
In other news, he's probably younger than 15 and has never bought a disk game ever lol
Kartoshka Aug 18 @ 4:03am
He seems to think that for some reason an entire year isn't long enough for a very popular game to proliferate through the country it was made in.
Starman  [author] Aug 18 @ 12:56am
Did I understand you correctly that in order to launch DOOM in 1993, a very, very expensive computer was needed?
Starman  [author] Aug 17 @ 11:38pm
@Nikalus @Yo_Im_Will Thanks for the report! Fixed.
Nikalus Aug 17 @ 7:41pm
Having the same issue where 2 tile wide items are only dropping 1/2 and not 2/2. Tried picking up all the metal shelves in the Rosewood school basement and not a single 2/2 part.
Ashen Tarnished Aug 17 @ 6:43pm
do NOT run doom on these computers, doom dropped in december of 1993 and was developed in either texas or california i forgot, either way some bumfucks out in Kentucky aren't going to have even beta discs or anything of the sort lmao
Hans-Landa Aug 17 @ 4:21pm
Squatdeer, starting from the fact that the game happens in 1993 (the default date is the real date where the game begins), there's only a handful of portable computers that would be worth adding that that's only the IBM PS/2 Note (1992), The Powerbook 100 (1991) and The Think Pad 300 (1992).
But you also need to remember that you are in rural Kentucky, and laptops were a luxury just like PC's, they weren't easily available to most of the general public even less rural areas of America.
Yo_Im_Will Aug 17 @ 3:55pm
Hi, just dropping a comment to say that the computer mod is causing two wide items, like tables and benches, to drop only 1/2 of the item and not 2/2, making them unable to be placed back down after picking them up. Anyone else having this issue?
Squatdeer Aug 17 @ 3:40pm
@Markelove There absolutely were laptops in 1994.
Markelove Aug 17 @ 3:16pm
Guys, I don't think it's worth making a laptop and overcomplicating the system with data transfers from disk to disk. There were no laptops in the years in which the events of the game took place!
GunzGermzNSteel69420 Aug 17 @ 12:57pm
Take my points:steamhappy:
JustSumRando Aug 17 @ 12:54pm
Is the intent of this mod to supersede the computer module of Support Goods? I ask with the vague hope of future compatibility (and having a laptop AND a desktop at the same time).
Adlauffer Aug 17 @ 12:48pm
Minecraft when?
Crybaby Aug 17 @ 11:02am
Skill games would be incredible, like skill tapes but for the computer. It could even just be skill tapes but in CD format
KnownSaturn9660 Aug 17 @ 6:44am
add doom i BEG of you
justaguybynow193 Aug 17 @ 6:28am
i feel like adding DOOM would be easy
