Yes, I should specify that the access to the map can be disabled through the sandbox of my mod instead of the vanilla option. Thanks for finding and pointing that out!
Got it working. I'd put in the description that "Allow World Map" in the sandbox settings needs to be enabled. I thought that it didn't due to this "while regular map access can be disabled completely"
Could just be me though that misread it and didn't understand. The mods awesome ty for the quick help!
Dpeends on the mods if they overwrite the map action.
Try to load my mod at the bottom, that could help.
If not, I can take a look at the B41 MP a bit closer.
With the next update, you’ll be able to create markings, write on the map in all colors, move and delete notes and markings directly on the map!
The update will likely drop tomorrow - after I’ve finished testing everything in B41.
just released a new update! It includes a fix for B41 map drawing without a pen when using the PDA, and I finally added the highly requested shortcut for quick PDA map access.
Check the changelog for full details
The PDA working without a battery is intended. Only the radio needs power.
Forcing the player to hold it when opening the map is planned and will come with a custom two-hand animation that is currently in the cooking.
Oh thats actually a real good addition to the functionality. I havent played with the minimap for ages so didnt even had that in mind.
Thanks for pointing it out! I am going to see what I can do
Yes, B42.81. Since other people aren't talking about it, it could be just my problem.
Hm, it might be causing by the new model references.
I will take a look at the webbing.
Are you playing on B42? For the time being, just use the belt slots for the PDA.
I thought it was because of other mods, so I made a new save just applied only this mod, but it was still weird. I don't know if it's a bug or my mistake.
Hm, that could be indeed a real cool idea. I am going to take a look at the options but wont promise anything.
@SaloIvanov
The dim light only shines when you equip the PDA as your primary item. It can't be used for reading books.
a small update is planned for the coming days — including the requested free PDA map marking, a Fahrenheit option for our overseas friends and a few other cool little additions.
Stay tuned, the update is just around the corner!
Uh, thats a real interesting idea. I'll look into it!
Turkish should be available since the last update
The new update is out! Enjoy the new, more detailed 3D model, much better attachment placement in B42 and the ability to finally receive the vanilla broadcasts through the PDA!
More detailed info can be found in the changelog!
Currently, there is no quick-access button for the PDA. I might add one later down the road.
@Quilava
The best chances to find the PDA are in military zones. Outside of those, it's pretty rare, since the PDA is a military-grade asset. As for the crafting recipe, I have a general idea of what it should cost and what skills should be required, but it's not ready yet.
An update is coming soon, featuring a completely reworked 3D model for B42, translation fixes, improved localization for the PDA device options and finally a fix for the vanilla radio signal broadcasts, which can be picked up with the PDA after the update.
You can get a sneak peek at how the new PDA model looks in the first image at the top
thanks for sharing your thoughts. That change is not on my priority list at the moment.
If you’d like to provide a simple and efficient solution, I’d definitely appreciate it. Just message me on Discord: "Hephaisto1"
If you can provide a French translation, I’ll gladly upload it. ChatGPT is doing a terrible job with translations.
@HKJ
Thanks for reaching out- I could reproduce what you told me and I'll look into it.
i tried to turn on both the PDA and regular walkie talkie with same frequency but only the walkie talkie works while the PDA stays silent
What exactly doesnt work with the radio? Are you playing on B41 or B42?
although the radio function does not work recently,maybe conflicting with my other mod installed
will be looking forward for the future of this mod !
I was able to reproduce the glitch on my end, and it’s now fixed.
I’ll push an update within the next hour—maybe I can get a new feature up and running too.
- I did do it through the 'place it' context menu.
- But i forgot to mention a detail, it was attached to my belt beforehand.
basically:
1. pick up curtain
2. put the pda on your belt
3. close the context menu, then access the replace button through the 'place it' context menu.
You should recreate it then
If you place the PDA through the "Place It" context menu, it should still appear as the PDA and display the correct model - just like in the banner image in the bottom-left corner. It seems I’m unable to reproduce the issue on my end.
I’ll create a Bugs thread in a moment. Could you post a short video of the glitch there? Otherwise, I won’t be able to fix it.
The PDA in inventory is called a PDA, and functions as such.
However if you try to place it (Which I did accidentally) it is called a premium walkie talkie and has the model for the premium walkie talkie.
Likewise , when I first encountered this , I naturally placed it down and lost my pda, and it became a premium walkie talkie once placed.
What I did to get this:
1:use the pick up function on a window cover, the kind which retains its original appearrance.
2:Then escape the replacement window, then open it up again (tab or by clicking the place objects button).
3: First thing you should see, is the premium walkie talkie which is actually the PDA.
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying the mod
@Britishexplorer
Thanks for reporting that! I’ll try to reproduce the glitch. Just to clarify: the PDA is never called Premium Walkie Talkie — it does reuse some code snippets from it, but that’s all. If the PDA isn't named PDA, something’s definitely off. It could be a mod mismatch, but I’ll do some debugging today to investigate.
@Bukraj
Not planned for now.
In short, the PDA is also a place-able object however it is called 'premium walkie talkie' (base game kind) and if you place the 'walkie-talkie' then pick it up afterwards, you'll lose the PDA as it gets replaced by the 'walkie-talkie'.
I honestly though i had picked up a a walkie talkier and I decided to put it down, I did not know it was the PDA.
- I am on build 42, latest build.
