i can't get over just how adorable silver moles are. My first ever pet in new colony is silver mole named Little Guy (was the first random name). He is the best thing ever. Thank you all so much for bringing this round perfection into existance, you have no idea how much it helps me rn outside of game

@Shazbo Strange it should, i'll have a look, also that's a pretty funny choice for a venerated animal.

@alevan2 As Blue star mentioned there was a gremal rodent but it was cut from the release, i kind of want the animals in this mod to feel 'special' in their own way, and i didn't really want "just a small herbivore and that's it'

@Fokron Huh, strange, i'll bring it up to RedMattis, their shell is supposed to take a color code from one of the local rocks upon spawning. Does it stay white even when you reload the save ?

@RufusTK it's a metallic material which can be used for armors/weapons or even walls if you are feeling rich.

this is a wonderful mod and I really like it :) but I'm sure you get that all the time, so let me tell you instead that I said "spongy hide" out loud in front of my girlfriend while I was playing and she said "me to my friend spongebob when we're running from the killer" and I've been laughing about it for two days now

@alevan2 There is actually a texture for an animal called 'Gremal'. It seems to be a rodent, but it doesn't have any attached XML for it to be a proper animal, it seems.

One of my fave mods ever thanks for making <3 everytime i get rock troll spawn i go yaay. I like to make them sapient with the big and small animal sapience mod, for some reason the top (dorsal) rocky part of them turns white when i do this? not a dealbreaker by any means but is strange so thought id mention.

Really good Mod, should be integrated with ‘Mythic Ages: Megafauna Bestiary.’ Allow to suggest the need for a couple of small animals… like ‘squirrel or rat size’ animals…

@toetruckthetrain I ended up just outright disabling the Pale Scourge event after getting it literally multiple times in a row for no reason. It becomes more manageable after that.

The reason I'm asking is that I can't find the recipe in any workstation. Any way, I didn't really even plan on having them but I had the random event and my animals guy had inspired taming so I now have a couple just sitting in my gravship eating kibble. Feeding them is absolutely a non-issue and I can always slaughter them if they starve out my boomies.

Blue Star is right. 2 to 1 ratio smelting.
I forget which workstation tho.

I wouldnt bother with those things though unless you are very prepared for it. Even if you are, generally you are WAY better off just exploring a few locations to gather your gold. Way less work. And it won't grind your colony to a halt trying to dedicate all their time to baby them.

The issue is they take a HUGE amount if input, before every giving anything in return, and a single goldilox gives peanuts. Very very little. So you need lots of them. For an animal that already has a huge upkeep just for 1.
So you either need a way to very cheaply feed them, which idk how outside of some other mod option.
Or lots and lots of grazelands. And I mean lots. Did I mention lots?

Basically not worth it imo. I just shoot them now.

@Blue Star huh so it really did just undo my entire patch back then for some reason. I'll push a fix, a bit dumb of me to not have checked.

As for the goldilox wool, you should have a recipe to smelt it into gold

Also, while the patch adding Rest effectiveness and Immunity gain speed to Whitefur and Spongy Hide respectively works, Pilgrims don't give Bird Leather when butchered. Also, I really like Red-horned Larpah's. Thank you for making this mod.

Since installing this mod, my tundra colony that has always struggled with food has had those problems pretty much completely solved by the amount of bearded trolls that have taken up residence.

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or if it's balanced or anything like that but... I'll take it :D

@The CandyMew Every animal shows that they can carry weight. Not every animal is a pack animal. That is to be eventually made for the pilgrim once i get on their packs

the game shows the pilgrims as pack mules but they refuse to do any weight lifting, any idea on how can i fix this? the game shows them being able to have a 125kg carry weight but doesnt count in the caravan

Hey, an observation I had with the Snaptoad Landmark is that its occurence might be a little high right now. On my current map, all Swamp Landmarks have the Breeding Grounds.

I had another rock troll drop despite them still being disabled.

At this point I'm wondering if it's another mod pulling them.

Either way, at least this time i was able to kill it. xD

I had a herd of about 30-40 of them on my gravship. Track was to box them in and give them simple herb rice meals. Gold farmmm

I spent several years with a herd of goldilox...for what you put into it versus what you get out of it... no joke about it being a greedy sucker...
After my few years of testing were up, and my colony dedicating their entire lifes to this herd, I got almost nothing out of it. Unless you have the land, and I mean LOTS of land to spare and can largely ignore them, they just arnt worth it. They will hurt your colony far more than help.
So now I just shoot them on sight.

I felt like that was intentional tho. Like. a lesson how nothings truly that easy or something mean spirited like like.. lmao

@Sir Van , I actually was wrong. I just had a run of bad luck with some of the nodes. It was back to back bug city. But I've mined another probably 50 steel just to do a lil testy test there, and all is well. The other mods are still influencing the other segments.

@The Ghost Knife It's a % so may have gotten lucky. As for mods that increase the amount you get from nodes, those are unfortunately custom nodes else i would have nuked everyone's current iron/steel deposits with the update

The ironcasket beetle is oppressive. One in four iron node squares produces a beetle. And, I can't tell why, but it's edited the iron nodes enough to where I'm not getting the increased amount from mods like More Components and Steel.

@RingWraithsAnon They are rare critters yeah. Ultimately i'd like to have a landmark with their nest at one point, but for now they're just a rare spawn within all the forest-y areas

This added much to my boreal run, but I never once saw a Larpah even years into that save. Are they just that rare, or does the regular forest have a better spawn rate? Will be exploring the other biomes to see the rest of the creatures, but am still curious about the Larpah.

I love this mod so much, all of the animals are super cute and distinct :)

I do feel like the Goldilox is kinda not worth the effort though - it's productivity of wool and milk is super low, it eats a lot, it's hard and dangerous to tame and it's not even a pack animal unlike the Drog. Given how much it inflates your colony wealth it would be cool if gave a bit more or was worth a bit less to compensate.

Also, I believe that the patch made on June 10th about adding comfort to Whitefur, immunity gain speed to Spongy hide, and making Pilgrims give bird leather when butchered was missed when this was ported over to 1.6, I think?

Notice to anyone reading the comments wondering why their strange rock formation vanished with the new update : It unfortunately was needed to fix a pretty nasty problem with it, you can refire the incident with dev mod, it's on the house.

Is there any way to reduce how often these guys spawn? I love them, but in my boreal forest playthrough literally 90% of animals are these guys and trolls, it's getting to be oppressive lmao

@Sakujo Yeah seems to have some sort of issue maintaining the already generated rock, it's being looked into.
