ezeepeezee Jul 5 @ 5:40am
@Cyanide MG Unsub and resub. It works now.
Cyanide MG Jul 4 @ 6:03pm
This mod still cannot be loaded on an active safe. It gives an error and causes a CTD.
haypo Jul 3 @ 4:32pm
It's safe to load your saves with the update :)
Cyanide MG Jul 3 @ 2:12pm
I see the mod is updated, but is it safe to load now? Like everyone here, my game also died on me and it took me hours to go through the mods, only to find this one being the issue. There is now info on the latest update though....
Saita Jul 3 @ 8:12am
Sheeesh... Same with me. I love this mod and don't wanna play without it :C
Hope creator here and see our messages :D
Quilava Jul 3 @ 2:10am
Look like everyone having the same crash when start new game with this mod like me, i just want to build a nice house :sad_seagull:
NalMac Jul 2 @ 4:02am
from the little bit of research I've done it looks like if you were to want to locally fix the mod yourself you would need to do what is listed in this reddit comment. https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/1lo7cv4/build_42100_unstable_released/n0ksqh5/ I haven't done it myself but maybe some of you guys can figure it out. :)
Mobile Jul 2 @ 1:06am
Yup after 2 days of trying to find out what causes my game to crash this is it. No errors on new save just crash on loading. I feel like im deprived on beer right now for trying to figure this out
Furizu Jun 30 @ 6:59pm
After removing all my mods and enabling them, I too found this to be the culprit of crashing on game load/
ezeepeezee Jun 30 @ 11:32am
Came to report that this is broken in 42.10 as well. Don't get any errors that I can see, though.
шмайссер Jun 30 @ 9:34am
This is the best construction mod. Only it doesn't work in the new patch.
JESU WA MONKE Jun 30 @ 8:35am
I think the mod needs updating for the latest patch 42.10 - can't boot up a save without disabling the mod
Uber Jun 26 @ 2:55pm
I downloaded this mod and its not showing up in the mod menu and I'm not sure what to do?
Professor Xray Jun 18 @ 4:33pm
Mod caused my save to freeze when loaded, only started working again after I disabled it and Elyon Lib. One or both of them might need an update.
MV75 Jun 14 @ 5:25am
Getting duplicate empty bucket when mixing asphalt. B42.9
Timou Jun 13 @ 3:18pm
@Skididdle - You said there is no 'builders sketchbook' for you.
- The Builder's Sketchbook is crafted with a notebook and pen, and allows you to sketch world objects as you find them.
Sketching does not allow you to build directly from the sketchbook; instead, it unlocks those buildables inside the standard build menu as long as you are carrying the sketchbook where the sketch for the object was drawn.
Skididdle Jun 12 @ 6:18am
Not sure where ive gone wrong, subscribed the mod from steam, enabled it in the 'mod' menu of the game but there is no 'builders sketchbook' for me to craft no any of the supposed options showing up, im still limited to just building the metal and wood structures.
It's as if the mod isnt installed at all.
OxTailSafu May 27 @ 4:24pm
Mod doesn't appear to be working correctly in regards to sketching objects. Despite sketching the objects, it still states I haven't learned the recipe, and this is despite setting it to sketch only.

Also, for whatever reason, items that you sketch do not show on the building menu unless you have the sketchbook equipped in your hand.
stoneyshae May 26 @ 5:40am
are we able to get Dylan's barricades somehow a part of this? sick mod btw man!
I Wear My Ukelele At Night May 22 @ 8:01pm
Does this let you build garage doors?
Quilava May 18 @ 5:06am
Im sr chief, but i have to be honest, this isnt cut it, it aint feel the same as your Building menu, sure it let u build more stuff like before, but it push us through more work compare to the old mod

Finding recipe, browsing through that old menu style, must sketch to learn , have to carry plan when build ... it a lot ... sure it isnt heavy work, but it very inconvenient, we just want to build cool base

There is reason why everyone love the old mod & why this mod isnt a hit, the number speak volume, i just hope you see through the problem & make the comeback that rock the community like you did before
-idnU- May 11 @ 7:34am
Hi Hii, sorry but I have a prolly dum question heh >.<. Huge fan of the Building Menu in b41, and before switching to this ond b42 I'm wondering if there is an option for building roofs in this mod as well, the proper ones, like in b41 version.
Amenophis May 1 @ 11:40am
A lot of carpet tiles are missing. All floor_carpet_motif_X (not floors_interior_carpet_X_X)
🔰 Apr 29 @ 7:06pm
any plans on adding the large commercial windows or these windows that belong to the sliding door thats already in the mod? its hard to build something a little more modern right now as large windows, outside of the church one, are missing completely.

i can build those with the better tile picker mod but as that doesnt cost resources its a little too cheaty and would appreciate it if they could be added to your mod instead :)
Yannis Apr 27 @ 1:14am
okay i changed the settings to only sketchbook and that is better
Yannis Apr 27 @ 1:08am
I do not understand this mod I sketch the things I see but in the building menu they are already listed?
Rez Apr 21 @ 12:43am
As a fan of the carpentry in this game, I love this mod very much :spiffo:
The fact that you can build something to decorate that you wouldn't normally be able to (like garage doors) or high fences to mark different sections of a base is great and I love it
I've been waiting for this mod since Build 42 came out, especially after having your work in the Build 41 with the Building Menu mod :spiffo:
Kaoeutsu Apr 19 @ 6:06am
what are you guys talking about? what were these chinese comments saying?
konte1m Apr 18 @ 1:40pm
wait no where are the chinese comments ;(
Almahr Apr 18 @ 12:54pm
Hey, question - does this mod add in NEW furniture or does it simply let you build / make the vanilla furniture? Appreciate it.
Beornvig Apr 17 @ 5:35pm
Great work this is amazing! Thanks for this.
El1oN  [author] Apr 17 @ 11:33am
@TEMPEST You're right, thanks for catching that! Yes, the correct meaning is: "as long as you're carrying the sketchbook in which the sketch for the object was drawn." It has nothing to do with the location where your character was when they sketched it, only which sketchbook contains the sketch. Also, it's worth noting that a player can carry multiple sketchbooks, and it will check all of them for known sketches when displaying buildables in the menu. So you can organize your sketches across several books if you like, they'll all count as long as they're in your inventory.
Guard [NOT a sharpshooter] Apr 17 @ 10:27am
In general, this mods great however, it is currently under fire by some moron in the united states, by Chinese accounts hope the situation gets resolved
TEMPEST Apr 17 @ 2:04am
Hi. Can I get clarification please? I think you meant 'in which' not 'where' in this sentence: "Sketching does not allow you to build directly from the sketchbook; instead, it unlocks those buildables inside the standard build menu as long as you are carrying the sketchbook where the sketch for the object was drawn."

Because 'where the sketch for the object was drawn' implies a location i.e. standing next to the thing you saw and then drew. Whereas I think what you meant was 'carrying the sketchbook in which the sketch for the object was drawn'. i.e. so long as you've sketched it and are carrying the same sketchbook you can build it. Location of the character is irrelevant.

Which is it please?
rawgu Apr 17 @ 1:32am
the google translate chinese comments are cracking me up fr
CompulsiveSurvivalBuilder Apr 16 @ 3:29pm
Hmmm...who should I believe? The mod author who had a wonderful building menu mod for years or a bunch of Chinese accounts that don't have to adhere to IP laws?
🔰 Apr 16 @ 5:16am
Learn to read bro. If you crash thats on you
Oach Apr 15 @ 11:10am
I'm excited to try this! Thank you for your hard work. Not sure what everyone else is getting upset about.
NalMac Apr 15 @ 6:05am
The Building master returns. Don't let those other clowns get to you because they lost their k-mart brand ripoff mod.
Chuckleberry Finn Apr 15 @ 5:08am
Great mod! :pinkteam:
LOADVPLAY Apr 14 @ 3:43pm
You are an angel, thank you.
TEMPEST Apr 14 @ 12:16pm
When you get around to the graffiti, could you please add a way to remove it too? Thanks
stalksetcup Apr 14 @ 12:03pm
@El1oN The idea is very interesting, but I would like to be able to see the "spoiler" for the construction that you have studied but for which you lack 1 or 2 skill levels, I think it will be logical that the character will imagine this construction, but how to implement it with a lack of skill - no
El1oN  [author] Apr 14 @ 11:25am
I might remove this skill check completely because it causes confusion
El1oN  [author] Apr 14 @ 11:24am
Also buildables not shown in the menu even if you learned their recipe/sketched them isn't actually a bug, it’s a built-in feature I forgot to mention.

Recipes you've unlocked (either by reading a magazine or sketching an object in a sketchbook) won't automatically appear in the build menu unless your character also meets at least one of the required skill levels for that item. This is intentional and designed to make the building process feel more grounded in progression.

If you enable the "show all building qualities" In the Build Menu option, you'll see all buildables, but even then, you can only build the ones your character has unlocked and has the proper skills for.

So in short:
Unlocking a recipe (via sketch or magazine) is the first step.
Meeting the skill requirement is the second.
Only when both are true will the recipe show up in the menu (unless you force visibility the "show all building qualities" setting).
El1oN  [author] Apr 14 @ 9:58am
@Quilava Unfortunately having two build menus would have complicated things too much and would have been more confusing. As for how the sketchbook works, it's not that complicated: you have to craft one then Right Click on it, Start Sketching, search with the cursor for objects that can be sketched and click on it (to see what you've drawn just open it). After that to build what you have drawn keep the book in the main inventory and search it through the build menu.

@Chillspice Unfortunately this is how their new scripting system works and two buildables can't have the same sprite.
El1oN  [author] Apr 14 @ 9:58am
@Comrade Khleb Thank you! I'm really glad you're enjoying the sketching system, it was a big part of what I wanted to bring to life in this update. As for the new B42 machinery like the metal bandsaw and water pump I know they can't be picked up, and you're right: they’d fit perfectly into the sketchbook system. I'll definitely consider adding those as future sketchable buildables!

@Birget Hmm, I haven't tried to add walls yet because I have another system in mind for them, but I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to add them. Can you tell me what didn't work? If you'd like we can continue this convo on the modding discord.

@TheDarkness You mean the list of categories on the left side? Unfortunately that's how it works and if I'd group them all into fewer categories it would be even more crowded.
