Oh, actually, I think it was your fix @Alyrohunter. I double checked a different save that still has Bushcraft Gear enabled, and your textures are fixed on that one too.

@JonTomNom, Nice! Unfortunately I have the issue even running only this mod. Oh well, might just be Zomboid being Zomboid... I wouldn't be shocked if in my case it is in fact caused by running the game in 5120x1440 or something dumb like that. Great mod nonetheless Akyrohunter.

I think I figured it out. I uninstalled the Bushcraft Gear - Rare Weapons mod (it effects the Katana) and now your crafted blades have returned to normal. So if you have that mod installed, (or anything else that might effect the Katana) try disabling it :D

@Нелюдь Keep in mind that through the sandbox you can configure the loot frequency of katanas, magazines, etc. to your liking.

Question for those who played with this mod, how often did you encounter these mod katanas? I adhere to the fact that the deficit is part of zomboid, and I'm afraid to encounter several katanas in 6 in-game months, I would like the chances as usual katanas in vanilla (I mean really rare, 7 katanas for all 860 hours of play more than satisfied me)

@Akyrohunter Yeah, I actually do this quite often. To be honest, I don’t even really play PZ anymore — I mostly just make mods for myself and friends, or fix broken ones. The issue here isn’t with the game or mod setup, it’s literally the .png itself that’s somehow broken. If I use the normal katana texture, everything works fine. But as soon as your texture is loaded, it breaks.

I even tried editing the file in GIMP, but the result was the same — even just exporting the vanilla texture with no changes causes the issue. Textures really aren’t my strong side, so I gave up there.

Just to clarify, I’ve already gone through the usual steps (new save, redownload, verify files, etc.), so unfortunately those won’t solve it here. I’m just trying to share what I’ve found so it’s easier for you to track down the issue since I'm not the only person with these issues.

@Mushroom-R Have you tried verifying the integrity of the game files? Right-click on Project Zomboid in the list of games, properties, installed files, and integrity of game files.

@Akryohunter, I’m not actually sure. I’ve tried a lot of different things—textures aren’t really my strong suit. I even tried editing them in GIMP and exporting them without making any changes, but the texture still comes out messed up. I’m still trying to figure out what’s going on.

I just downloaded the mod, to see if there was something uploaded wrong, but everything seems correct, the textures have the same size as the vanilla 128x128px and with a resolution of 72, they are exact except for the change of color of the handle. I don't see any problem with the mod, could it be a problem with the game when migrating from version?

I assume from what you say that it is a bug in the base game when updating the version, since the katanas use the 3D models of the katana from the base game, I simply retextured the handles at a graphic level.

I did add the mod mid-save and the world I am playing in has been upgraded from 42.10 to 42.11. I am noticing a lot of lag and some other bits and pieces going wonky, so might just be the game is a bit wonky from the world update. I'll try starting a brand new world and see what happens, but here's a picture of what is happening to myself and @Mushroom-R

I don't quite understand what the problem is that you're talking about, I just created a rare katana and I don't see anything strange, the blade is metallic in color and I use the same texture as vanilla, I only change the texture for the handles, rare blue, epic purple and legendary orange

@JonTomNom, yeah, the issue is still there. I made an override that forces the world model to use the default katana texture—the sprite still shows correctly, but the in-game model now just displays the default texture. I suspect the mod’s texture is missing something, especially since it’s only 1/4th the size of the original PNG.

I am also getting the problem where the blade turns the colour of the handle. I crafted a Rare Katana after reading the magazine and gathering the materials, but the base of the blade is blue, the tip of the blade is black and the handle is silver/metal. Unsure what's caused this.

@TheGuyThatWentToHell no, the color changes depending on the quality, legendary orange, epic purple, and rare blue. Maybe in the future I'll consider adding more colors to the handle to customize it. It would be a good idea, I think, but if I do it, it will only be for the legendary version. It would be a lot of code work to do it for all the sword qualities.

I like your mod, but I can't customize it to my needs. I want to be able to set all respawn to zero and learn schematics at the right skill level so I have to craft it. Seriously, when I found one (a katana), I literally cleared out the entire hospital (full of zombies) from the louisville checkpoint, and not even a single katana broke. So I want to customize it to set items from your mod to NOT respawn, and force me to craft them from scratch.

No, the blade is metallic in color, only the color of the handle changed from legendary orange, epic purple, and rare blue.

Yes it works but you have to select compatibility in the sandbox, if you already have a game started I would recommend that you use the addon [b42] Sandbox Options https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3386906181&searchtext=sandbox that allows you to change the sandbox options, remember that you have to save and re-enter for the sandbox options to load again.

If the semicolon was inserted, the comma, but I did it well, and from what I've seen before I also did it well, simply not to test that it could be sharpened I lowered the condition of the sword with the debug and apparently it can only be repaired if the condition of the weapon is greater than the edge of the weapon and it did not appear to me in the repair recipe, but I have tested it now and it works perfectly. I am going to add recipes to repair the condition of the weapon and with what you have helped me it can also be sharpened, a thousand thanks to all and especially to @poedgirl for helping me improve this humble mod.

I don't know if it's because of the latest patch, but I tried that a while ago and it gave me an error. I'll try it again locally and if it works, I'll make another version that can sharpen. Thanks for keeping an eye on it. Did the line stay like this?

@ Akyrohunter In order to make it so the whetstone can sharpen the blade, you just need to give it the "Sharpenable" tag. I tested this by modifying the LKItems file locally and it worked.

What this addon you mentioned does, if I know how to program it, is a repair recipe where it asks you for a metalworking level, a plate that is consumed in the repair, but this only repairs the condition of the katana, the edge becomes dull. What I'm trying to do is use the sharpening stone to recover the edge and I haven't been able to do that yet.

@Akyrohunter I found a mod called Fix Your Katana [B42], I'm not sure if it works because I don't have the skills to repair yet, the mod is new but the few comments indicate that it works, in case it helps you
