Did you get consistency errors or anything?

I've heard people were 'struggling' when using 4k textured characters and smoother models.
John Wank Sep 12 @ 8:53am
@Inexorable - I've ran various HD mods in multiplayer, both collections and ordinary single bundles.... This is the only one that struggled.
Inexorable  [author] Sep 10 @ 11:30am
@John Wank It doe run on multiplayer, but the server has to accept mods (obviously)
rx. Sep 8 @ 11:09am
It's a collection of mods - obviously it's not gonna work on multiplayer.
Local only
John Wank Sep 8 @ 7:34am
Wonky in solo, but runs... Impossible to run on multiplayer servers. Bad.
PixelTheCollie ΘΔ Sep 8 @ 2:43am
This dont happen for me and so far other people dont got this issue its probably another mod you got. So yeha
I Can't Breathe Sep 7 @ 11:59pm
ur a loser, every single mod is conflicting with each other and is causing a never ending crash loop you sperg
rx. Aug 9 @ 6:24am
no but it features a couple of common addons that are nice to have
Diddy Aug 9 @ 4:39am

PixelTheCollie ΘΔ Aug 5 @ 8:56pm
I know how to script
In lua. And html. And css and js
For roblox and gmod. Haven't modded for l4d2 before. Anyways Yeah.
rx. Aug 5 @ 3:02pm
Unless you know how to script and make an in-game option to customize viewtilt, I don't see it happening any other way.
PixelTheCollie ΘΔ Aug 5 @ 2:04pm
Merge it in a way where there an option to have it reduced or not. Im not dumb bad English or not isn't that obvious?
rx. Aug 5 @ 1:57pm
I'm illiterate to bad English.

if you merged the OG viewtilt with the reduced version you'd get conflicts.
PixelTheCollie ΘΔ Aug 5 @ 1:52pm
Imagine they was both merged so best of both worlds so both
rx. Aug 5 @ 1:29pm
There's a reduced version which I prefer and wouldn't cause many people to get motion sick
PixelTheCollie ΘΔ Aug 5 @ 12:52pm
thanks, and np your welcome

PixelTheCollie ΘΔ Aug 2 @ 7:40am
I did add it myself it does work. Just wanna see ur collection become better and cuz why not anyways sorry and thanks
Inexorable  [author] Aug 2 @ 3:18am
Hey @Cherrie_The_Shifter ΘΔ
Thanks for the interest you have for the collection.

I regularly add mods to the collection but it requires me to validate that they work fine with the existing mods, I don't want to break the collection because of a new mod.
The days I don't play LD42 a lot, so I don't really have the time to try out new mods but i'll get around it eventually

Also, I have a rule that my collection is supposed to fully work in multiplayer, because most people play on multiplayer, so anything that is server side will not be added here (including server side scripts).

However, as xof stated, a collection is just a bundle of mods, you can absolutely add other mods to it yourself if you feel like it improves your experience, it's your game and you can add whatever mods you want to it.
rx. Aug 1 @ 1:51pm
Why not just add it yourself...?

looks better and takes up less space
Inexorable  [author] May 4 @ 1:23pm
@FRIKI-BOB : did you set your paged pool memory to low? ( Options -> Video - > Advanced settings -> set your "Paged pool memory available" to "Low" )
FRIKI-BOB May 4 @ 6:47am
why does my game not start when i have this pack?
Franshish Feb 8 @ 7:25am
@xof Hah, Perhaps
rx. Feb 8 @ 7:12am
It bugs me and my OCD, ha-ha.
Anyways -- great collection, now pls stop plugging it everywhere, people will soon take notice of this.
Inexorable  [author] Feb 8 @ 7:05am
@xof You're right, there is a bit of difference.
Anyways, as I said, since the engine is limited it's either that, or vanilla texture
I prefer to have slightly less defined HD textures to vanilla textures, but I understand that's it's frustrating to have to deal with this
rx. Feb 8 @ 6:22am
That's the only thing that appears blurrier in the screenshots along with the bricks sticking out of the wall and etc. etc, this happens everywhere and on everything - so it's not happening only to me but to you and everyone else who plays on low paged memory.
Just compare high and low together.
rx. Feb 8 @ 6:19am
I'm not running any "Ultra FPS configs" that could possibly make the texture quality worse. I honestly don't know. **BUT** when I played on high pool memory, the textures looked normal.

Also there is a very-but a very slight difference between high-med-low paged pool memory.
It's a bit of a nitpick, but the cooling, A/C or whatever it is seems to have blurrier textures on med-low along with a white outline -- while the high paged pool doesn't.
Inexorable  [author] Feb 8 @ 6:14am
@xof Cool, let me know if it helps!

For information, I ran a quick test on the roof of No mercy and found no difference in texture quality, but maybe it does affect some textures in some part.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3423421010 - high
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3423420724 - medium
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3423420511 - low

Anyways, the way I see it, you can't play with HD mods and high pool memory, or you will crash, so you have the choice between vanilla textures (which look outdated today) being rendered at max res all the time with high pool memory, or HD textures being rendered sometimes in lower resolution with page memory low, but at the end of the day it still looks WAY better than Vanilla, so I guess it's a sacrifice we have to make. But for the record, I play with pool memory low and I didn't experience blurry textures, so maybe it comes from somewhere else?
rx. Feb 8 @ 6:03am
@Inexorable
Like an hour ago, I played L4D2 and successfully played through; No Mercy, Dead Center just fine, The Passing crashed somewhere around the underground exploration part.
I don't think my specs really matter as I'm pretty sure anyone can run L4D2 in 2025, anyways; yes I do have 16gb of ram, an I5-14400F, 1tb of storage and an RTX 3060.
I did notice slight pop-in with paged pool memory set to low in 'The Passing' right when approaching the 'wedding' part, but also lower and worse texture quality. Still convinced paged pool memory also lowers texture quality in some parts.
I'll try removing the smoother models as soon as I'm not busy with other thingies.
Inexorable  [author] Feb 8 @ 5:52am
@xof

As for the constant crashes you experience, I don't experience that, the mod collection runs fine on my end. Do you have at least 8-16gb of ram? The game will use 4gb at best, but windows and other programs may eat some of the ram so you should have 4gb of free memory when launching L4D2, which is why it's best to have between 8gb and 16gb. If you don't have enough ram maybe try to close every program and run only L4D2 and see if it helps? Also refrain from alt-tabbing because it can in rare cases provoke crashed.

If nothing works, try disabling the "smoother" mods (smoother bill, smoother zoey, etc), I know they can be quite intensive, in fact I purposely didn't include the smoother special infected because they made my game crash all the time, but I found the game to be stable with just the survivors having smoother models, then if it keeps crashing try to remove the Remade Assets HD

I hope this can solve your problems

@xof
I am sorry for deleting your comment, I thought you just hadn't set you paged pool memory to low like some people who didn't read the description.

For information, paged pool memory has nothing to do with texture quality but rather pop-in/out and fade distance. Unfortunately, the engine being 15 years old there is no way to run that many mods without making that sacrifice, otherwise the game will constantly crash even on the best machines.

Those are pretty bad screenshots honestly. It's hard to notice a "difference" when both screenshots are well... different

Take a picture of the same environment at the same location, in the same positions etc. etc. etc whatever, and try again.

rx. Feb 8 @ 4:58am
Didn't see that happen yet. Like I said, I dunno how this thing even works, all i see is textures rendered at a lower resolution. That's about it.

Not That, The Distance You See Fades Away When You Get Far Away
rx. Feb 8 @ 4:55am
I'm not an expert on L4D2's (or Source's code in general.) to understand the point of paged pool memory, all it does it render textures at a lower resolution.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Franshish Feb 8 @ 4:50am
Well, There's Nothing You Can Do About That That's What I Do Too By Setting My Page Pool To Low

4K's Are Not That Much Useless It's For Those Who Want Everything To Be 4K It's Like URE
rx. Feb 8 @ 4:43am
All I said is that he self-plugged this collection under a "[VSCRIPT] Ragdoll Magnitude & Drive Tweaks" mod and that it was shameful.
I complimented the collection but also complained equally about the constant crashes, regardless of if paged pool memory is set to low. (Also setting Paged Pool Memory to low just makes me feel like I'm playing L4D2 on low texture detail, rendering all these pretty 4K textures useless.
Franshish Feb 8 @ 4:12am

@JuZak : as stated in the description of the collection, conflicts are normal, mods work anyways
JuZak Feb 7 @ 5:55am
When I'm only subscribed to this collection, I get the error "Two or more add-ons have conflicting files" and over half of the add-ons are not loaded (written in red instead of white in the list of add-ons). How could I fix this? I haven't added any other add-ons.
Dookie Stayne Dwayne Feb 6 @ 6:59pm
Okay so it seems that setting the page pool memory to low fixed the crashing, thanks!
