edit: nevermind, i see that this mod is a requirement for immersive professions mod (uatto) and disabling driving skill also disabled that one and it makes more sense for it to be the issue.

for some reason, with default mod sorting, since b42.8 this mod breaks foraging on the whole map for me when it worked before. its either due to the update or the update introduced a new mod incompatibility of this with another mod. interestingly, putting it at the end of my load order seems to make it work again.

anyway, if someone else has this issue, put this mod at the end of the mod list to make it work.

or atleast, the speed of it does. as it has a max speed of 75 MPH (using the cruise control) and at lvl 2 driving I was able to get 80 MPH using it.

@brendanmcasey I can confirm it works with the '86 Oshkosh P19A. So it probably works with the other KI5 vehicles.

For me too it is so random and rare when I get XP, even when I increase the Sandbox Settings..

@poopsock I buffed mine way up in settings but the XP was still pretty slow, BUT I discovered a trick... when driving accelerate hard and let go of all keys but speed up time until you start slowing down. This will get you a few xp drops every time you do it

how is xp earned in this mod? Is there a way to "grind" the skill? i dont necessarily want to lower the requirements for earning levels, but the xp rewarded is so low, and it feels random.

Additional tests show that 'Trunk', 'Trunk Lid', 'Windshield' and 'Hood' are all not being buffed with the values from the driving skills mod.

Can this be fixed?

I think Trunks have hardcoded limits so if this mod increases it, it may wrap around to zero. Not sure tho, Ill test it later.

I have a question; are you sure things like 'Trunk' are buffed at the same time/rate as everything else? I ask because I have the W900 truck mod and I'm level 4 driving... when I start mowing down zombies, the 'Trunk' goes from 100 to 0 within about 3 seconds, but everything else on the vehicle is still at 100-99%... it's like despite it being 'made of metal' the 'trunk' is paper thin.

@seabiscuit1985 - the default setting for this is that XP is not show when rewarded. XP is rewarding in small amounts (I think it's like 2xp) after a certain about of time driving.

Why can't my character get any experience for driving? Is it a bug or because of my setting? I didn't change anything in the sandbox setting for this mod.

I have noticed a lot of issues with custom items being added to the distro. When I get them looking right using "LootZed" they don't seem to act accordingly.

@Afterworlds - You may want to look into your distributions.lua file. Even when literature is set to "abundant" I have be unable to find your driving books in any bookstores. I have found them in mechanics shelving though

Additionally, I made a patch for this mod to make it compatible with my Simple Skill Books mod on request. Do you have any plans to merge your B41 and B42 version?

Mod looks fun but i would prefer getting better traction on offroad driving as a skill. would you add that ?

I would love to see the driving skill affect car part durability when hitting zombies, I think the player character would learn how to angle the impact this way and that to reduce damage somewhat, or spread damage to other parts. Likewise, damaging/killing zombies could add a little driving XP. But maybe this is just me preferring "reverse donuts in a stolen taxi" as my primary weapon.

"skill check" events like "Near miss bonus" would be super fun, but I imagine implementation would have performance problems. It would have to scan all the squares around the car for zombies or whatever else the bonus system is checking, and do its calculations on every frame the car is driving.

does this have any additional functionality for individual "skill check" events for bonus xp? one of the major drawbacks to the original driving skill i saw was that because it was purely dependent on how long you were above 0 mph, you were never incentivized to do actions which would give you xp for the difficulty, like driving for extended periods at top speed on the low end and narrow misses on zeds on the high end

Great idea, but it would be normal for the first 2-3 levels, the driver to have some negative modifiers.

@[FK] MikeyRyu I didn't see that More Traits had updated, my nose was too deep in modding. I assume that they likely still have a lot of similar code. I re-wrote this one entirely for B42, so I'm not sure at this point. I'll take a look.

no me diga que no fue buena idea un nuevo perk de ventaja para la condicion el juego de carmagedron me dio la idea XD..
y no hay que olvidar que conducir es todo un placer en el apocalipse zombie donde no hay reglas salvo sobrevivir al infierno zombie o a los npcs de algunos mods como bandidos y esas cosas el resto de chusma npcs enemiga y que manera mejor de darle al personage un estado de felicidad y conford que atropellando a los zombies cada 10 zombies bajo el aburrimiento y la depresion a un estado de felicidad sadico con un nuevo perk de ventaja a elegir llamado el tropecida.. apocalyptico y si tienes la ventaja de ese perk de el sadista sientes felicidad al atropellar zombies despues de todo los zombies no quieren un buen destino para nosotros por eso lo merecen..
a probado el mod knox evento de npcs son casi immortales al jugador y solo con el coche atropellandoles mueren a si que su mod va a ser una gran ventaja contra esa terrible desventaja un mod muy desequilibrado donde solo un npcs puede dañar a otro y solo merece la pena mantenerlo por que añade npcs aliados y con el mod bandit bueno ese tambien lo tengo y el coche siempre es la solucion contra ellos que bueno amigo que aya actualizado este mod de la 41 y el de el loot

Regarding the Exp gain problem:
I tested playing around the Sandbox options and it seems to only give XP if the Options for Global xp Multiplier is enabled. disabling and enabling it on an existing file should work out.

PS: Same for the Scavenging Mod.
I also don't see both skills in the Sandbox Options under the XP Multipliers, so my guess is that because they are missing there, the game uses 0.0 as Multiplier.

Great idea for a mod. I noticed you refer to this as a passive skill but you used the active skill XP levels. I think this should be an active skill players can positively improve with effort.

Yeah, its really strange that would be happening. It SHOULD create the sandbox entries for you. However, I can't get this error to happen on my side, even if I add it to a game in progress. I have no clue. I found a mismatch in a language file? So, I can send that update, but other than that I'm stumped. What other mods are you using? Maybe I accidentally did something with a conflict?
