Exactly, now it's just NPCs with normal zomboid. Before it would be a few days where it was just normal life, getting worse and worse until mayhem breaks out when the first zombies start to appear and reanimate. That charm and fun is lost now.

The Mod used to be good, but with all the posts I'm reading and experiencing it myself it's a no for now. Mostly about how I feel like my freedom is taken away when I'm forced into situations like killing someone with a car when I didn't even do it, and the whole airplane dropping on my head no matter where I go. Oh and being spawned into homes where it's hostiles or it's the party event. I loved the mod during January-May but it's just not hitting the same anymore

I'm having problems with the mod on Linux. I only have Week One and Bandits v2 activated, and after spawning on the map, there is no starting money. There is also no home icon. I can take things from any shop without the NPCs having a problem with it. There are over 50 error messages at the bottom right. Do you know what could be causing this?

Great mod, has its ups and downs and performance isn't great but generally improves as the days go past day 7, but the plane crash, crashes to desktop. Come back then dead. Kinda sucks because you don't die because of mistakes or bad plans or just taking the wrong corner packing to much gear, but simply because a auto lock missile nukes your PC.

Still enjoy the mod though, but will probably disable the Plane Crash event.

Why has he railroaded the mod now? It used to be random. You would have 1 week and the world would slowly crumble, on day 3-4 people would start to reanimate and it was so cool seeing people get progressively sicker before dying and then turning. Now they just reanimate instantly if they die which is so boring. It's literally just zomboid with NPCs now. Not 1 week before.

It is a really cool mod, great in concept. There is obviously some bugs though, annoyingly, people invading your house in the early days. Don't try and defend yourself, the army will come and F you up!

I canot spawn in the house like in vanilla game. Its always party, hangower, car crash. Pls fix this or add the option to choose spawn!

stuttering is crazy at the moment after a day or so - but feel like it started since 42.11 and I'm aware there's something about large numbers of items in 42.11 causing stuttering I think? Anyone else having this/ are we just hoping 42.12 fixes it? Or did it get fixed and the stuttering could be from something else?

I've noticed closing the game when it gets really bad and re-opening it fixes it for 5-10 minutes, so it's like leaking memory or something else that builds up over time

No no it is configurable, many options like making bandits amount minimal or none at all. But the gripe I personally have with this, is that the author forbid options like disabling bombs and such

had 2 solid runs nut after the last patch it wont allow me to plumb in a sink after placing it in basement and fallout keeps killing me in the basement aswell

The "people" in this mod are just cardboards: there is absolutely no difference between police officers, paramedics and millitary guys they all just ignore you until you attack them. I want to like this mod because the premise is very cool but it just completely s hit s the bed in my opinion.:deadrat:

Was enjoying this mod, until day 4 or 5 (?) when my sfaehouse gets continuously pumelled by waves of aggressive bandits first thing after dawn (zero interactions with bandits prior to this). Best ive managed to kill is about 20 b4 sucumbing to gunfire...,

This mod is the best mod ever for this game, but the author gave such bad options for player configuration it's atrocious! How can I start a game with a car without a tire, and I can't even replace it because it can't be pumped, only replaced, in the middle of nowhere. Or why can't we configure nukes or airstikes, whether we want them or not. Some of the choices are some dumb and this has so much potential. And why don't we get home in all starts, it's so deeply stupid!

I have been having a lot of frame drops, games stuttering and slowing down randomly and even freezing and crashing a few times. Only have the week one and bandits mod on. With mods off I do not have this problem. I haven't played for a few months and just came back to play a couple days ago, updated both mods and now am having this problem. Last time I played before this I had no problems with your mods. Also when I leave my house and just go out to the street several npcs keep spawning in my house. Any ideas to help with the frame drops? I have turned a lot of things down and it does not help. Anyways still love this mod and think it's the best! Thanks!

"Tremendous amount of time and patience" nag screen gone - bye bye ego driven 'artsy' devs you have been replaced by mod AI... by the way if you get the hot load Lua code and set up your classpath to inject custom jars you can do some really amazing stuff like hooking up talk to chatbots

Honestly mod performance isn't that bad doe - its mostly due to b42 physics engine from what I have tested so if you don't like the lag get a better cpu or disable the new physics stuff. Its not the mod - with the code optimizations in the Lua Claude Code made though can have a lot more cars driving and NPCs running around. I'd post some results from scaling in the config but yall sort of lame and I doubt will bother much downloading mods any more at all from creators when Claude makes them to spec

Claude Code was more than happy to optimize and fix all the code when I asked it to for the mod including adding new config settings to turn off the plane/jets, drastically speed up the pathing/action logic etc - soon won't be any more human mod developers - the AI is better at writing Lua and taking instructions. And if any one asks 'why' well it was because when people tried to give suggestions either they were attacked for even DARING to SUGGEST FEEDBACK OMG HOW DARE THEY JUST PLAY LIKE WE WANT YOU TO PLAY IN THE SANDBOX ffs

Like many many others, npcs are spawning in my home. I start a new game, leave my spawn house, come back hours later - yes to the same freaking house - and npcs are living in it. This has happened with 5 different new games and its utterly ridiculous.

@AJABOOBOO Thank you for responding! I started off as a fire officer class when this happened. It happened as a welder as well, after I reloaded a new game.

I'd be happy to reload a new game and get video as evidence, since @slayer is saying this does not happen. I went back into the house I spawned in and was told to get out and started getting attacked, when I killed the npcs the paramedics came and the cops went after me. This is the only mod I have enabled, if that helps.

People really whining about le unfairness of the mod. Only thing I'd do different is that the bombings wouldn't happen in rural areas but like, just increase the time before the event to a month and prep beforehand, then you can drive around in a car until the bad stops.

@AJABOOBOO mod probably not for you brother if you want to stay in a paceful place and wait it out. The whole central idea is that things happen around the player. otherwise you would not even know they happened or only see the result destruction. what if i told you that in brandenburg where you never were there was a ufo landing. pretty cool yeah?

@short npc never spawn in your home and even if they got inside they would not attack you. i think it was either not your house or the npcs were simply bandits

@short that is odd. i havent had that one yet. what employment class were you? i primarily play as a cop due to the police station access and loot with impunity as another cop there after i find the station key.
that seems to spawn in the same areas in every town.

exactly what you said. sick of having a plane and bombs decide to hone in on me like pooh going after honey.
i get the mod author wants to tell their story but i just want to play my game too without being forced to eat a freaking plane, a10 strikes, carpet bombing etc no matter where i go or what i do.

hopefulyl the mod author relents and implements more player choice in their mod.
and some NPC behavior fixes would be a nice touch as well

I spawned in a house with a garage and shed. I went into the garage and shed to get some supplies. I was not gone long and locked the doors before I went outside. Went back into the house I spawned in, and there were three NPC's in it that immediately started attacking me. I killed them, then paramedics came and cops with a red icon came in and shot me to death in the house I spawned in.

I'll take a look at what is causing the stuttering though I suspect its the NPC car pathing again - make sure if you changed your NPC cars from 4 to 5+ in settings preset to disable see if solves it. Running on potato laptop here getting around 20 FPS with 10 cars. Re changes on those lines just remove the word 'not' from the lines indicated in BWOEvents.lua L1265 (jet gas/bombs) L2249 (plane crash) - when event is triggered will resolve 'is player true' and exit out of the function without running the event code.

I could spend the 10 min to add config to stop the railroading and by default get to 'tell the story' and re-upload without permission but that would be an ego-driven dick move. Just like telling your fans to shove off because they don't want a plane crash in their favorite mod on the 8th play. So right now instead I'm basically doing customer service FOR FREE pointing out the quick monkeypatch on the code.

Good modders SHOULD be charging for mods. But hey most games DON'T allow that! Why? The game devs have been enshittifying the game for years vs the original versions so a paid mod team could have easily replaced every feature they've added in 1/10 the time. So now you have awesome but opinionated devs like Slayer making headway in re-adding the 'pre pandemic' feel that the PZ devs refuse to support in the game settings. I wouldn't have even bothered IF Slayer had simply fixed the dependency configs to ref Bandits2 and stop breaking compat with One Week extended config mods. Or merge the mods. Again - EGO and reach arounds by 3-4 Mean Girl losers who like to massage the EGO of broken people.

@AJABOOBOO Well it was never like this before, but the creator must have updated it. It was much better before when you had a few days without zombies and then suddenly people start to get sick. Now it just feels like normal zomboid with NPCs on the first day, instead of an actual week before.

arbitrary destruction mechanics because the mod author has a story they want to tell or express but doesnt want the player to have the options to play the story they want.

it is a great mod @Slayer and something the devs should have already built in.
at the same time, what would you call a developer who refuses to listen to their player base because they want everyone to play THEIR game and not there game.

This mod literally drew me back into Zomboid and inspired me to play again after years away. I saw one youtube video with your mod and couldn't stop thinking about it. Couldn't think of anything else except week one until I finally downloaded it. So refreshing to be so excited for a game again, haven't had that feeling in years.
Thank you so much for making Zomboid a more complete game and I'm so sorry your comments section is filled with brain dead losers complaining about a FREE AND OPTIONAL add on???
