This seems to work with Anchor Ceti 1.15. (At least, the 'reveals the entire map prompt shows up for the technoogy.)

I can confirm that this mod works fine with Rising Tide.
Ryoga  [author] Sep 18, 2017 @ 2:41am
No Idea as I don't have that, but the mod is very very simple, it might still work, try it out.
NeonNobility Sep 14, 2017 @ 4:01pm
Does this work with Rising Tide?

If anyone here has played Civ 3, once you got a late-game tech, I don't remember it's name, it revealed the whole map. This is a great mod.

I like the concept because it gives my poor video card a break. sometimes the game slows to a crawl. Thankyou

@tookmeforever about that the developers said in beta the game started with the map explored, but this took the fun out of exploring, which is an important aspect of any civ game. Besides, the cargo choice that reveal coasts is basically that, someone took out a camera out of the cryo pod and now after landing you know the shape of the continents :)
tookmeforever Mar 21, 2015 @ 7:57pm
It always upset me that these advanced civilizations could build a starship but not a camera. I could just see them in their starships as they reached their new planet. "Wow guys, this planet is amazing! Someone take a picture so we have a map. What? No one has a camera?!". I don't mind having to explore to find resources, but basic map should have been available from start IMO.
Thanks for the good work.

I know, Im sorry I kinda went off on a tangent, I was more directing at the people then the mod itself. The mod is ok, I was kinda surprised they didnt have a late game tech for it already. Sometimes a game mechanic is more imortant then what maybe more realistic. Games are made to escape reaility to somewhere cooler and more fantastic.
JerJerBinx Feb 8, 2015 @ 7:13pm
Geo, in case you didn't look at the screenshots, it doesn't reveal the entire map at the beginning of the game. It reveals as a leaf of one of the final branches in the Tech tree, so it would take a long time to actually get the tech. And even then, it's not like you HAVE to research it, it's just nice to know it's there.
GeoFlame Feb 6, 2015 @ 11:27pm
Its a good idea but exploring the fog of war map is part of the fun of the game. Id play the game a lot less if the map was revealed from the very start, just not fun to me. Even if it makes more sense that it would be shown, I dont care it makes the game more fun to explore then have everything explored already. Games are about fun first, if I dont get that then the game is useless to me.

Can we have an alternate download link please?

The unexplored terrain never made any sense in Beyond Earth. If we can build satelites to do everything else, why wouldn't they build a simple satelite to map out the planet? We have already done that with our present technology. It's also utterly unrealistic to imagine that they didn't just map out the entire planet while they were still in space looking for a landing site.
greengoo Nov 30, 2014 @ 12:51pm
could this geta scriped borrowed from one of the startign pacages wer al lthe alian nest get revailed, applied to every thign else. so every turn all thigns that wher nto revailed last turn get reveiled this turn.??
mfly6148 Nov 17, 2014 @ 7:39pm
Ah, well. Maybe if there were a way to replace the command, 'check out all the black tiles on the map' to 'check out all the tiles where our team doesn't currently have a direct line of sight (greyed out areas).' :) Still, a cool technology that could prove useful.
thelachofkerr Nov 17, 2014 @ 11:32am
Civ V satellite tech had same effect on scout explore...unfortunate.
Ryoga  [author] Nov 17, 2014 @ 10:59am
Yeah unfortunately Explorers are programmed to look for unexplored parts of the map, so once they are revealed, they'll have no objective to got to.

This is sort of bad when you consider that resource pods are not revealed.

I have no idea how this could be fixed though.
mfly6148 Nov 16, 2014 @ 7:02pm
Nice mod! works as advertised. One thing I noticed is that after the map is revealed, explorers will no longer be able to auto-explore (I got the message, 'no locations remaining to be explored,' or something like that). Would be cool if explorers could still be allowed to wander the globe, looking for those remaining pods, ruins, etc., especially on massive maps.
Blue Suede Shoe Nov 16, 2014 @ 3:04pm
On the note of the workshop, thumbs up, good job.

On the note of previous, I didn't even notice the flaw in logic until I came across this thread, which leads me to further assume you must have quite the keen eye for details. Well done all around.
Ryoga  [author] Nov 16, 2014 @ 10:53am
Neither would I hold my breath. Not only this is about science fiction, this is also a videogame, and sometimes gameplay necessities take precedence over IRL logic.
Blue Suede Shoe Nov 16, 2014 @ 9:39am
I also understand science fiction can be based off of more science fiction.
That last word "fiction" gives the genre (naturally and rightfully) alot of margin for error.

I guess what I am trying to say is, if you are waiting for an explanation from Firaxis, i wouldn't hold my breath.
Ryoga  [author] Nov 16, 2014 @ 5:53am
As far as I can tell that's an internet story. I mean it's true that several companies have been funding researches in that direction. But that Boeing has officially "admitted" to work on an a project of that kind? I couldn't find any proof of that anywhere.

It seems that the news started from a site of UFO conspiracists.
Blue Suede Shoe Nov 15, 2014 @ 11:48pm
Concerning orbiting functions, it is a science fiction game, as already pointed out.

Boeing, the world’s largest aircraft manufacturer, has admitted it is working on experimental anti-gravity projects that could overturn a century of conventional aerospace propulsion technology if the science underpinning them can be engineered into hardware.
Ryoga  [author] Nov 15, 2014 @ 10:15pm
zgrssd The problem, as I said before, is that they need to be at the equator, you can't have geostationary satelites all around the planet.
zgrssd Nov 15, 2014 @ 9:48pm
The concept of geostationary sattelites is not that odd. Indeed that is how most sats have been working (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geostationary_orbit) .
It does move. Just not in relation to the point it is "over".
Cyberknight Nov 15, 2014 @ 9:15pm
Exactly!
Ryoga  [author] Nov 15, 2014 @ 9:13pm
Indeed there is absolutely no IRL logic. There is no such thing as a satellite that doesn't move. All satellites need to move at very high speeds in order to maintain orbit. The satellites of Civ BE function more like aerostatic baloons.

The only case where you can have geostationary satellites is when they orbit around the equator, but even then it's an illusion since the satellites are actually rotating in sync with the planet's rotational speed.
Cyberknight Nov 15, 2014 @ 9:05pm
Now to proofread all of the comments and description and be a grammar nazi because i have no life and think that every person on the internet speaks english as their native language and is supposed to have mastered grammar 100%. lololol
Cyberknight Nov 15, 2014 @ 9:02pm
I don't understand how satalites could possibly work the way they do in this game. Satalites work by orbiting the planet, moon, glefrominkleob, etc. But to work the way they do in this game they would have to stay at the same place above the surface the entire time in orbit. I know the game is for fun and it does not have to 100% follow science and logic, i was just stating the first sentence of this comment, lel.
H A T R A X Nov 15, 2014 @ 7:45pm
abysmally awesome, you rock :Khappy:
implodinggoat Nov 15, 2014 @ 4:59pm
Great idea, its ridiculous that there's no tech that reveals the whole map and adding it under the Dark Networks tech was a good choice since its a late game tech that feels a little underwhelming on its own.
Ryoga  [author] Nov 15, 2014 @ 4:58pm
Yeah the main problem I see is the non overlapping area of effect rule. I don't know if it can be overridden just like the 1UPT.
zgrssd Nov 15, 2014 @ 4:30pm
@Ryoga: The only "Satelite" able to change position is the Rocktopus. it does so via dropping out of orbital and going in position on the ground layer (actually it starts down there and cannot be normally launched from cities).

How about: Sat drops out of orbital layer. Teleports to another hex. Jumps into orbital layer again.
Of course one issues is that sats are considered "annoying" to have around your teritory. So it moving on itself might have implications on Diplomacy. Plus the whole "area of effect" thing.
Plus others could just "shoot down" your spy sat if you are at war.
oldmanwynter Nov 15, 2014 @ 1:08pm
@sBlade. That's not a bad idea. Maybe you could launch multiples at a time to reveal it faster
Ryoga  [author] Nov 15, 2014 @ 5:41am
I think it would be even cooler if you could launch a scanning satellite that roams around the planet until it uncovers it all, kinda like how satellites work IRL.

Unfortunately considering the way they created the orbital layer and its rules I don't think it will be something easy to do.
sBlade Nov 15, 2014 @ 5:30am
Love the satellite idea. How about one that you launch, and it slowly removes fog of war of the entire map, starting directly under it. Similar to how the miasma ones work, though map-wide: extending outside its orbital coverage.
Hatka Nov 14, 2014 @ 7:43pm
Great Addition. I find it amusing that the Firaxis put such an emphasis on the orbital layer but didnt add a reveal map/search map satellite.
oldmanwynter Nov 13, 2014 @ 1:25pm
it would be even more awesome if this was a national wonder instead of just unlocked with a tech.
Monado Nov 13, 2014 @ 12:18pm
Yes, Thank you tons Ryoga! I was complaining about this last week at civfanatics.
Ryoga  [author] Nov 13, 2014 @ 11:50am
Best advice I can give you is to:
1) Unsubscribe from the steam page (wihile the game isn't running)
2) Open the game and using the ingame "search for mods" function subscribe again
3) Pray to our Lord and Master Gabe.
Jack5436 Nov 13, 2014 @ 11:34am
hey guys I was hoping someone would does this kind of thing but for some reason it is stuck in transfering can anyone help me with this?
Mr. MoJoe Nov 13, 2014 @ 12:13am
@thundercactus The pods you collect in the game are the surveyers satellites. Regardless I get what you mean, its silly.
Bleu Nov 12, 2014 @ 7:03pm
Sorry i downloaded and installed the mod while the game was open - i had to restart my game and it works great :)
thundercactus Nov 12, 2014 @ 5:00pm
600 years in the future and we're landing on a planet we haven't even surveyed.
"Hey! That one over there looks good!"
"Shouldn't we send satellites before we land to survey the planet?"
"IVE HAD TO PEE FOR THE LAST 200 YEARS IN STASIS THERE'S NO TIME"
Cmdrblade Nov 12, 2014 @ 3:32pm
i have been waiting for a mod like this i thought we have lasers but no space sats?!
Ryoga  [author] Nov 12, 2014 @ 8:26am
I might help you if you give me a bit more information. What do you mean with "it does not work"? Does this mod even load in your game?
