@nep I'm still new to using FMOD. The only audio modding I have experience with is swapping vanilla skill sounds, but that's just a simple GUID reference

I would like to create & share a mod framework that enables adding unique music to each boss fight. I know that some custom dungeons like Pet Cemetery add triggered audio to (what I'm assuming are) new custom Event IDs within their dungeon. So I guess my question is, do you know if it would be possible to create new Event IDs for vanilla dungeon bosses, that could then be referenced by FMOD?

Sorry for the unrelated comments here - there aren't many guides for audio editing and you seem very knowledgeable. I intend to post the framework if I do manage to figure it out, so that you and other music modders may add new music for boss fights

@mcstud77 That'd be a whole different case then, because that's outside FMOD's (the game's audio engine) side of things, in which this mod was created from. FMOD only contains preset IDs and audio configs as a form of "communication" between it and the game. So, it'd be pointless to create new IDs in FMOD, because all of the parameters is in the game, not in FMOD. It's like you're trying to build and connect a bridge between two cliffs, but only the other side knows how to build one.

@mcstud77 To answer your question, no, it is not possible to add BGM for bosses except the final boss in Darkest Dungeon. Why is it impossible? Simple, because the bosses doesn't have their own Event Audio ID, unlike the final boss. And no, the siren to my knowledge doesn't have her own event audio id either, because in her fight the game still uses the ID for Cove Room.

I know the siren has unique music for her fight, so wondering if it's doable for the others too

I'm planning to put Canto 8 OST into Farmstead plus. Last time i checked, Farmstead+ uses different audio event id for the BGM than the regular one, unlike Courtyard Plus. Gotta do some trial and error, and no promises on when.

Okay, thanks, also I wonder if Farmstead plus works with this, since the courtyard version does?
Though it may not due to the unusual format of how the normal farmstead fight works.

@Jsm_PL Since Courtyard Plus uses the same audio id as the regular courtyard, load order shouldn't matter. Though, just to be safe, you can put this above courtyard plus just like Sunward.

@Jsm_PL I've said this in the previous comment before; the event bgm id for Farmstead is there in the game, but nothing would change even if I were to put custom tracks in it. Other modders have tried the same thing but to no avail, too.

@framewulfer An update regarding the beta branch issue. So I was half right. The reason why this ost mod didn't work on the beta branch was because the devs changed the FMOD version in the beta branch. They said they've reverted the version back on 5th March beta patch so this mod should now work properly again in the beta branch.
For context, FMOD is the game's audio engine, and every audio mod, be it music or sfx, have to use the exact FMOD version that the devs used originally. That's why.

This is what they wrote in their patch note on 5th March for the beta branch:
"Based on reports from you all we have reverted FMOD to the previous version due to the incompatibility it created with many mods, and the unlikely nature that those mods would be updated. While this does re-introduce some rare crashes that can occur, we felt this was the safer course of action given what we are trying to accomplish."

@framewulfer It could be because in the beta branch, they've changed the music battle event IDs or how they communicate with the parameters ingame, hence why the tracks aren't playing anymore. I'll look into this later until "Coming_in_hot" branch goes to stable, and hopefully they'll update their modding documentation about what has been changed in that patch, especially for audio stuffs.

Can confirm, this mod isn't working in the beta branch, it completely makes the music stops playing, i think this happens in the latest mod version, the previous version didn't make the game's music stop

@Zen Roshan That could be the case then. I'd recommend to not use that beta patch yet since we are still not sure what things that they're gonna change in that patch. Just rollback to the stable branch for now and you should be fine.

It seems the music not played on my end. I already test it with this only mod turned on and only the stage ambient could be heard and not the song. I have tweak the load order but still no song played at all. Is it on my end or is it this mod problem?

@framewulfer Maybe. I haven't even played the actual event in Limbus lol. I've heard the track, and yeah, it fits for main menu BGM.

@woodhawk109 Unfortunately for CoM Farmstead, it is quite impossible at the moment to change any BGM inside it. The event id is there, but nothing works even if I change the tracks in it. Lots of modders haven't figured this one out 'till this day either. It's a mystery, I tell you.

@woodhawk109 I'll think about Vermintide. I need to try the mod first and see how they handled their BGM event id in the file. No promises though, 'cause I'm playing some other games at the moment.

Hopefully you'll eventually add musics to Vermintide as well. I know you already said that you don't use it, but it is a very popular dungeon mod.

Another thing is that this mod's music are a bit louder than vanilla and Vermintide's, so it can be a bit jarring at times volume-wise

So, the game has a bunch of parameters that the devs made for 'communication' with various functions and events, including parameters for the game to 'communicate' with the audio side of things. The audio's side was made in FMOD. So, the communication between the game and the audio goes like this: The game has pre-made parameters > FMOD will then use the available parameters for various events > all audio configs are then saved and ready to be sent to the game > the game's code reads the audio configs > if the corresponding parameters in the audio configs matches with the ones in the game, the game then will execute it.

So basically, if there is no available parameter in the game's code for dungeon bosses to have it's own BGM, the audio's side couldn't do anything about it, simply because there is no 'communication' to be made in the first place.
I'm deeply sorry if this is too convoluted. I'm not really good at explaining stuffs and English isn't my native tongue.

@MayoCam I'm glad you enjoy it and thank you for using the mod! About the boss fights, I've already wrote about it in the description. Unfortunately, the game's code doesn't have the available parameter for dungeon bosses with the exception of the final boss fight in DD. I wanted the same thing for the dungeon bosses, too, but it is simply not possible because there is no parameter to use.
