For my full post about this, please see the discussion I started "Problems with Dollhouse"
I think it's honestly just Project Dollhouse at this point. I'm having the same issue, along with you and somebody else.
What gives? Am I missing something obvious or is this not a feature of the mod? Any help would be appreciated.
Try running XCOM 2 with nothing but Project Dollhouse and see if you can build any facilities or if your characters randomly change hairstyles or colors. If everything works fine, start adding your other mods one-by-one onto your mod list. Eventually you'll figure out what doesn't mesh well with Project Dollhouse. If you want to use a lot of mods this process will take a while, but you should be able to figure out what works with PD and what doesn't.
If I find a solution to this problem I'll post back.
In the XComUI.ini, at the top should be a section called "[ProjectDollhouse.PD_UICustomize]". In that section you will find "CharacterTypeOverride" lines. Add your custom race/soldier "TemplateName" there.
For example, let's say you are using the mod "Allies Unknown:War of the Chosen" and want to add the Argonian soldier to Project Dollhouse. First, go to the "Allies Unknown Redux Species: Argonians" mod folder and open the "XcomAlliesUnknown.ini" file in a program like Notepad. You will see a line called "TemplateName", and in this example the name will be called "ArgonianSoldier". Remember that template name.
Continued in post below...
+PD_CharacterTypesOverrides = (CharacterType = "ArgonianSoldier")
This line tells Project Dollhouse to recognize the Argonian soldier type. Now save the file and launch Xcom 2. Go to your soldier list and check to see if your Argonian can now be customized with Project Dollhouse's features.
If you are using the Alternative Mod Launcher [github.com] - which you reallly should be if you are using any XCom 2 mod - editing the ini files can done easily through the program. Just highlight the mod in the launcher and at the bottom section will be a number of tabs for the mod. Click on the "Config" tab and you can then select what ini file you want to change with the drop down list. Once you've added your TemplateName line, click the Save button and launch the game to test things out.
I know a user asked that question previously and found out how to change a setting in the Project Dollhouse ini, but the option is actually in-game.
every time i try to change my hair color it crashes the game
do I have to add in a compatibility thing manually, and if so where could i find that?
- UCR gets rid of the massive stuttering when browsing through different outfits, this one doesn't
- With UCR I can see part names from outfit mods, with this one it just says "Torso 35" etc.
If I upgrade from Kevlar armor to exo suit or Spider suit, it still changes the appearance even if I disabled it from doing so.
After completing a mission and returning, on the post-battle screen where you get info on your squad (Promotions/bonds/tired/wounded/etc) so would the research-engineering-armory-command be on the bottom kinda in the way of the CONTINUE button.
Sometimes those research-engineering etc buttons wouldn't be there at all, which made it impossible to review soldiers.
It also made it impossible to build new structures or clear debris. I can click on a room, and it will move to it, but then nothing. Doesn't allow me to clear the debris or build anything; no options at all.
Disabling the mod makes it turn back to normal so I'm quite sure it's the Dollhouse mod making errors.
