@Darth ZarZax Ah ok. I don't really know much about battle AI. It's mostly a cosmetic change to polish the original. More 'DLC' than ovehaul.

@The Cuck I consider it to be mostly complete. I would like to tweak the civil war mechanic and possibly a few additions here and there. I haven't had a lot of feedback though so I don't want to spoil it as it's doing quite well. Thanks for playing!

@Darth ZarZax I think there are around another 25 settlements. I deliberately kept the original map and tried to just 'tweak' it. I have not made the mod with merchants in mind so while I don't think it would 'break' the game, there are no new textures etc, so play if you wish but I make no promises for using merchants.

What is the total number of settlements in this mod? I don't like hundreds of settlements added in other mods, i'm thinking of replaying RTW after many years but the more i'm getting older the more i think less is more.
Also is this the original campaign map?

I have hopefully found a fix for the issues surrounding the barb medium spear unit. If there are further issues please put in in the messages. The fix *should* be save compatible.

First up love the mod!

i get the same crash as Wart1n1.

for further context i just got a siege battle against the britons that crashes every time. They only have their warlord, 1 unit of spear warriors and 1 unit of swordsmen. That gotta narrow it down :)

I re-downloaded the mod today just to be sure.

So I think I've encountered a similar bug to @Crab - game crash after loading battle against Britons. Happened with field battle twice and I think one siege. The last one is against an infantry army (spear warriors, woad warriors, warbands, swordsmen, chosen swordsmen and slingers), no general, playing as Carthage. No crash if I run a similar army as a custom battle.
Not game breaking but hope it might help.

@Crab I have been testing myself but can still not replicate this crash so unfortunately I don't have and answer(yet?). There are no changes to ancillaries in the mod at all only traits pertaining to religion/culture none of which should affect battle. I will try a few more tests based on your army. Thanks again for the flags and information. Hopefully this won't ruin the game fore you.

@Wart1n1 Thanks for the feedback, I will look to add this to any updates going forward. Really glad you are enjoying the mod. The culture mechanic was a late addition but I didn't get much negative feedback on it so left it in. It just means 'preparing the ground' before invading sometime which made sense and also allows for rebellions to the old faction which was historically the case so felt right.

Either my general is glitched, somehow, or the issue I'm having is something local and not due to the mod.
I can easily autoresolve the battle and move on, so I'll see if any future battles cause crashes later on.

@Sulla I'm still playing as Rome. It's a field battle, two separate armies, during the winter. The army makeup I use has been the same throughout my campaign (General, 9x Legionary Cohort, 1x Legionary First Cohort, 4 Auxilia, 2 Archers, Legionary Cavalry, Roman Cavalry, Onager) so I don't think my army makeup is causing the crash. The game crashes when the Briton army loads in after I click "Start Battle".

I did replicate the battle in custom battle, like what I did when Pergamene cavalry were causing my game to crash. Surprisingly, nothing? I even gave both armies one of every piece of cavalry they could use, still nothing.

My next guess was that the crash was coming from the generals, maybe some sort of glitched trait or follower. They have very few traits and no followers, even when I used a spy to check to them.

Really enjoying this mod so far, love the balance with a good amount of new regions in some areas without making it too long to manage. Nice additional factions. Love the culture implementation, it makes it a bit punishing to expand but that's a nice challenge.

A small detail, I was initially put off from trying the campaign due to all new units having peasants graphics, until I saw somewhere you need to set the unit colour scheme as "Realistic" instead of "Vibrant", maybe worth mentioning this?

Okay so I did look back at the save and I did make some mistakes with what units the army has.

Both armies do have a general in them. Army 1 is 3x Spear warriors, 2x Swordsmen, 3x Chosen, 2 Warbands, 1 Barbarian Cavalry and 1 British Heavy Chariots.

Army 2 has 1x Spear Warriors, 4x Swordsmen, 4x Chosen, 2x Warbands and 1x Slingers.

I'm not sure if you'd need the exact specifics, but you've said that you need as many details as possible.

Uhhh, shit, alright, I'm crashing every time I load into a battle with the Britons now. Luckily I don't get the same error message, just a hard crash to desktop, no freezing.

I can post the enemy's unit loadout if you need it, I've done plenty of battles with my own army loadout and it's never crashed like this until now. If you want another potential culprit, the enemy's only cavalry unit (they don't have a general, just a infantry captain) is a single unit of heavy british chariots.

@Nile12345 I think some other users have had a similar issue and seem to have found a solution. If you seem the comments below it may help. Unfortunately i can not find any issue with the mod files so may be an underlying bug in the ALEX files.

I have a semi regular bug that causes a crash. It sometimes occurs when you load up the campaign map at the very beginning of a campaign or after a battle. But I havn't had it happen for the same battle twice.
It's not crippling yet. Just Immersion breaking.

no worries understandable ngl , i just like it when i have to fight my way through villages etc :D but i like the mod it makes some factions finally good in the beginning especially for AI's

@Lytair It is possible to add more settlements but I don't think more settlements necessarily means better game-play. I changed things with the aim of balance and while there are certainly historical cities that could be added I generally don't add unless I feel I have to. I tried to keep as much of the original feel as possible.

@Crab This is my pretty much my experience with mods as well. I have immense respect for the modders who can do these huge mods, I just feel like it become a different game not a mod. I considered all sorts, such as historically accurate, half a dozen more factions etc but just decided KISS. Would love to know why people down-vote it though. I can only improve things with feedback. Is it still crashing?

Hey no problem! I really just wanted a mod that does everything you described but also keeping it vanilla. I've tried a couple of other mods that unify rome and either they're overpowered, or try to focus on realism to the point where the difficulty becomes unfair.

I tried Divide et Impera once in Rome II. First battle in, Pyrrhus attacks me, entire army routs the instant combat starts, uninstalled the mod after that. Ever since then I've been cautious about trying mods that focus on realism.

So while it still crashes when I try to load into the same battle, I tried replicating the battle in a custom battle and I didn't get a crash.
I don't know how Rome Total War remastered modding works, but I have a feeling that my old save is still running on the previous version, if that makes sense.

So I will have to make a new save. If I get another crash I'll report it, but I'll see how I go.

I was playing as Rome, my unit loadout is a General Unit, Equites, 4 Hastati/Principes/Triarii/Velites, a Ballista and a War Dogs unit.

I had no issues up until this battle.

@Crab Sadly I don't have an answer. I have check all the associated files/models/textures and all seem accurate. I can load all the units using the online version of the mod in custom without issue.

The crash is referencing a model that is not even used in the mod. It is a variation on a new unit that doesn't look for variations...... I can also load said unit into customs without issue and can't see any issues with the base files.

As I can't replicate the issue, I can't get any more error data from the logs to give me a clue.

I will keep looking around this issue. What faction were you playing as? Any specific units etc?

Okay, my game is crashing again.

I'm currently being attacked by the Greek League near Apollonia. I'm being backed up by two other armies (one is the city garrison), and the Greek League has two armies trying to attack me at once.

I can load into the battle and deploy my troops easily enough, but when I click "Begin battle", when the other armies all load in on the sides of the map, the game crashes a second or two later.

After one or two reboots, I get a third crash, stating the same data/characters/alex_east_heavy_cavalry_parthia_arabic_african_lod0.cas message as before.

So the error might have something to do with the Greek League's unit variation. The Cavalry units that load in on my battle before it crashes are General's Bodyguard, Greek Cavalry, Militia Cavalry and Pergamene Cavalry.

...I think the Culprit might be Pergamene Cavalry, as they're the only Greek Cavalry unit I've never fought before and the game crashes the moment they show up.

@ELSEY The files under AppData\Local\Feral Interactive\Total War ROME REMASTERED as well as AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly. That's what I did at least, I think the files under the Creative Assembly file are all crash reports.

I just deleted all of the files under there. After deleting the files and loading the game, the game should ask you if you've played Total war rome before and if you want to send crash reports.

I've been playing for a little bit now and I still haven't received a crash. Does it crash in the same way I did? Like there's a one in three chance of crashing when you load into the campaign map?
