I'm not sure what bugs you are talking about, the gamemode seems to be running fine here. If you play it, don't forget to disable other addons, as ZS' code is incompatible with sandbox stuff.
1) I'm not sure my damage detection fixes are good enough. I simply got the original concept and tried to better check for the right areas with better ranges. I left some test functions in the code so we can render the areas to understand what's going on.
2) Some panels don't have height limit, they can get pretty big on 4k screens.
3) Panels don't rescale for big or small monitors.
4) There's a known bug of bots spawing in the incorrect team because they are indexed by steamid.
5) The bots code needs a looooooooot of love.
I don't have the time to write these issues right now, I'm just reading some comments in a Uber going to finish some jobs. Feel free to help if you want to, my main goal in GMod now is to continue my map gm_construct 13 beta.
I know that some of it is people will want to rewrite large portions of the spaghetti codebase/litter the code with comments instead of actual improvements, but even so, it would be awesome to contribute to an awesome project like this by knowing what needs work!
You could just reject/ignore the PRs that don’t follow the key concepts ;)

Yes, download the recommended leadbots addon. The usage instructions are in the description.
I also played ZS back then on a server called ChillZone Zombie Survival. Those were good days, but they were way too long ago.
I have a zip somewhere with their old gamemode from like v1.05-1.11/15 and your fix definitely makes my long standing goal of fixing their old gamemode way more tenable.

If you are playing on singleplayer, the zombies will be spawned as NPCs by some maps or you can use the leadbots extra addon to add bots with commands. In the near future I'm going to make the leadbots auto spawn too.
If you are playing on multiplayer, you obviously need other people to play as humans or zombies, but you can also use map NPCs and leadbotd the same way you would on singleplayer.
Don't worry about that, the bots are being updated very often too.
