How do I use the teleporter on caravans? I remember it being a feature in VFE Insectoids 1

Technically they've licensed the original VFE Insectoid stuff as CC Share-Alike, which means I could leave it up. If Oskar asks, though, I suppose I'll pull it as a gesture of goodwill. If they didn't want to allow derivative works, though, they should have left the license NoDerivatives. Not everyone holds to as strict a ruleset as I.

uh, the plasma weapons in this mod might be on a chopping block soon because oskar posted a teaser for a mod with a guy holding one of the plasma weapons on the rimworld discord

Don't have a log because when a mod causes map generation to fail, it will also fail to generate traces or logs. To add to incompatibility, rimnauts 2 also causes the same problem with this mod.

I can confirm- I was trying to figure out what was breaking world generation.

based on what the log analyzer was saying, it seems to be a conflict between Vehicle Framework, VFE Insectoids, realistic planets, Random Goodwill, and this mod.

It's not "directly posted here" because this is the first I've heard of it. I don't have the issue at all with a ~300 count mod lists, I just tested them in a small list together and maps generate fine. Have you a log? Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Since it's not directly posted here, this mod has a hard conflict with VFE Insectoids 2. It will prevent map loading or generation when they are loaded together. Removing either mod will allow the game to progress normally.

If you want to craft them, you need the craftable patch linked above. It still works fine on 1.5.

I'd call it a fix because a chainsaw is a tool that can be used as a weapon and probably not something that you'd see noble pawns using.

@Psyckosama - That's not a "fix", it's a personal preference. And it's done by changing or deleting the weapon tags, which can be done with a patch, through a mod like RIMMSqol, or by just editing the XML directly.

@Play-G Doc: This mod doesn't contain insect armor, but the mod Biomes! Caverns has some insect and chitin-themed armors in it.

FYI, VFE Pirates was just updated, removing the VFE Insectoids requirement from the plasma sword.

Oh hey! I didn’t realize you were the author of this one too. Let’s hope so, reason I asked is because the warcasket weaponry mod on my steam page has recipes to craft it, but Taranchuk and I realized the dependency issues while he was updating it to 1.5

I expect with Insectoids 2 it may be obtainable again, either way it is under the No Derivatives license of VFE Pirates, so unfortunately no, not without permission.

Any idea if you would be able to add the warcasket plasmasword to this mod? Or does it not fall under the VFE insectoids licence change since it's still apart of VFE Pirates even if its unobtainable?

VFE Medieval and Vikings are going to come back in VFE Medieval 2! It looks like it will be out in a few months, probably in the fall.

honestly even better I was downloading insectoids just for weapons and artifacts anyway now there will be at least no random items in my save though

Actually I was in contact with Oskar as well.
He offered to license the stuff and I would have to find a capable modder (unfortunately I am not knowledgeable enough to create mods myself).

This mod contains the plasma weapons, and the artifacts, from VFE Insectoids. Oskar currently doesn't have plans for the weapons, and the artifacts won't be officially back in a VE mod until VE Archotech. Insectoids 2 is in progress but it's unlikely the weapons will be included.

That's really annoying for people who don't like the bloated Vanilla Factions Expanded Armor Mod. Given that Oskar has explicitly discontinued the VFE Mod as it stands, there's no reason to do this. None.

Also, Cherry Picker SUCKS. It crashes my game every time I tried to use it.

Under the terms of the Share-Alike license, I actually could, but I follow more strict personal rules when it comes to mod continuations, spin-offs, what have you. Oskar, the creator of the content, let me know that some of it was already officially available again elsewhere. If he were to decide he wanted to do "Vanilla Expanded Plasma", this mod would dwindle down to a few artifacts, eventually to disappear completely when VE Archotech arrives.

Understand that "he's Oskar from VE and Ludeon" has nothing to do with it. I would do the same for any author, it's their content - I'm a caretaker. I don't really have any ego about it, if I have to pull something, it's fine. I just think good content should remain available for this great game that's given me literally thousands of hours of entertainment.

TLDR; "If the original author requests it, I will remove this update."
