Astonishing looks and great improvement from the base graphics but i think the water reflects the skybox and the clouds a bit too much and simply looks like a mirror and not water.

in-game daytime: absolutely stunning. during in-game nighttime: everything looks purple-ish and hurts my eyes (it's not literally purple but has a purple tint and doesn't look real as well)

Since the texture or asphalt road and asphalt road with sidewalks is a bit of different tone, the intersections of the two types look not great. Maybe you could make it of the same inner texture?

Yeah, all the lighting and colour correction related stuff is in ini files in the weathers folder :)

Does it look as bright in your game as the screenshots on the Steam listing? Because I think in the screenshots (and in my game) that day time is quite a bit brighter than the default game lighting personally.

Not sure I could turn it up much more without stuff just being glowingly bright.

If you want to play with it you could adjust things in day.ini

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but would it be possible to slightly increase the brightness of the daylight? The new lighting looks beautiful, but daytime often feels more like evening because everything is quite dim. That’s the only thing holding me back from fully enjoying this otherwise amazing mod.

That's very odd, that's the default folder that steam creates for your games.

Try googling 'how to find your steam library" or something like that.

According to TechPowerUP, on the 940m: "Even though it supports DirectX 12, the feature level is only 11_0, which can be problematic with newer DirectX 12 titles."

So looks like the black sky is caused by old GPUs not supporting DX 11_1 features.

@OOGA BOOGA - I suspect it might be because your card only supports DirectX "Feature Level" 11.0, where the skyboxes use features from 11.1 (See https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-Quadro-M2000M.151581.0.html)

Updated for Early Start!

Had a look at the sky textures and there is nothing special about Day1.ddsx compared to any others, although they do use some new and fancy DXT compression (all of the skies)

Wondering if people with black sky issues either have old GPUs, or out of date drivers for them? Maybe? Hard to know as I've never been able to replicate the problem (besides by selecting DX10 compatibility mode)

I crash with the new early start DLC everytime when I start a steam train. No crashes when uninstalling the mod by verifying file integrity, but when I reinstall the mod, I crash instantly when starting a steam train.

i recently began having some crashes during some gameplay sessions. i believe i managed to track down the issue to the "weathers" folder. the issue is bizarrely triggered when i have transferred only the "weathers" folder and then heading into the building editor. Then after placing down one random prefab, I click on the particles tab to trigger a crash. this ONLY happens when the weather folder has been brought in.

I also ran into the black sky error, so I tried overwriting files multiple times to figure out the issue.

In my case, everything was fine to overwrite except for 'weathers\day1.ddsx'. But when I overwrote 'day1.ddsx', the error showed up. So I recommend others to overwrite the files but leave that one alone.

Unfortunately I'm not sure how to help folks with the black sky issue.. I just tried a fresh install of the current version of the game + this mod, and it worked fine.

I could put out a seperate mod with versions of the skies in a more compatible (but much uglier) texture format, which might help though?


I'm wondering if those of you that are having trouble have a specific graphics card or old drivers or something? Any info would be good :)

@Pitagoras991 - I can easily tweak the nights to be brighter, and will eventually. Don't think I have any control over the headlight activation times though, so not sure why that would have changed?
