when even is that

I saw one (mech slag chunk) and was extremely annoyed with it because wtf is this and who asked for this.. and ok when I junk it at a machining table, where is the recovered mech core appropriate for the type of mech that got blasted to smithereens (honestly might not even notice high level mechs when the first reaction is defcon 1 launch all the 81mm swarm shells)? Like what's the point of adding something to the game that has no contextual or functional purpose?

So perhaps another obligatory comment.. can you add when dismantling these that they drop at a low rate, a mech core appropriate to the level/type of mech it came from. re: adds much more benefit to summoning mech raids and dealing with cassandra dropping clusters with higher level mechs without just nuking them into oblivion.
