I agree with you.

I don't think they were focused as much on speed as they were the ability to sail and do freight work completely independently of the wind lol

And also the paddle's wash in this case...

Ships like these make me wonder how people thought back then. "One knot, good lord! Thats a milestone!"
rotanev Apr 20, 2024 @ 12:01pm
also i didnt realise this was a historical recreation at all lmao
rotanev Apr 20, 2024 @ 12:01pm

Most likely I'll do one at some point, but I got other ideas first
mcsteve89  [author] Apr 20, 2024 @ 11:42am
of course you say this on my only ship that's a historical recreation and not fiction lol
rotanev Apr 20, 2024 @ 11:41am
Do you ever plan on making some sort of coal collier, like the USS Cyclops?
rotanev Apr 20, 2024 @ 11:39am
I should really start a new wiki and start adding all these ships to it again. I like writing fictional stuff for some reason.

hm, it happends at the dock with the launch pad thing to
mcsteve89  [author] Jan 4, 2024 @ 1:46pm
@JakeTheDude Right, should be fixed now, but it might take a bit to update on people's downloaded builds page because steam does that for some reason... Used a couple invisible blocks to stop the rods from moving any more than they need, and I tested it on the multiplayer dock, which seems to be the one where that happens at.

i are really lieks this boat :>
JakeTheDude Jan 4, 2024 @ 6:20am
i have a problem, the rods connecting to the detail pistons dont connect and i cant move them manually into place, this is really annoying, could you possibly fix it? Please and thank you

could you pleeeeaaaaassseeee do the P. S. Lady Elgin? It would mean a lot to me, since it is one of my favorite steamboats ever, and it is a famous part of Great Lakes history. (i'm from michigan)

Notice how I said *several contenders* for worlds first steamboat. This is, in fact, a historical recreation if you didn't already notice. The Charlotte Dundas, built in 1802, is claimed to be the worlds first successful steamboat just as much as Robert Fulton's North River. There's also the fact that it specifically states *successful* steamboat. There were several steamboats before Dundas and North River, notable of which being the John Fitch steamboat "Perseverance" of 1787 as well as another John Fitch steamboat from 1790, which my older Albany is based off of.

I have been considering a lake freighter for a little while, but I also found some really beautiful great lakes paddle steamers. hmmmm, lovely internal conflict
