Works differently from RescueGoodwillFix, as it seems that 1.5 have other cause of goodwill points being not rewarded, btw it works in my case.

The year is 2025. I still don't get goodwill for rescuing neutral/ally faction pawns. This mod doesn't work for me, because it shuts itself off at game load assuming the problem is fixed because it's not the original bug causing it. I have turned off all mods and verified game files. The problem is not fixed. I am sad. :*)

If anybody is curious, should this break in the game due to other mods, this mod fixes it. This works for both releasing prisoners and tending to faction members by bringing them to a hospital. At least in my case, it may not be perfect for every situation but this mod works for me.

This is fixed in the base game normally, but I have another mod on breaking it and I'm not sure which one so I'm going to try using this mod to fix the problem. Will update with results.

It works if you're on the RimWorld official Discord server. Perhaps a screenshot of the message to go with the link could solve the problem for those who aren't on that server.

The discord link in the description of this mod does not work, you need to allow other discord users to see the message.

This is great, missed this a lot and didn't realize it was a bug. I hated not having any incentive at all to rescue allies.

@Motho There was a discussion here a few months back and some tentatively believe Hospitality may be the cause. On my part I've had it installed and never heard of this issue until some people started complaining about it.

Yeah, I did test it and it worked. Got like 10-15 goodwill for "exited map healthy". tried both pod rescues and downed caravaneers. both worked, but i cant figure out which mod is doing it lol

@Motho A lot of people have said that and then they go and test it and realize it isn't actually working. (Though it's definitely still possible that you do in fact have a mod that is causing it to work properly; I just doubt it.)

Prisoner release goodwill is not broken so that works regardless of this mod. It's when you rescue friendly / neutral faction pawns and then they leave the map.

Dude, this is flipping awesome. You made a mod that fixed a bug and that resulted in the bug being fixed in vanilla... or at least will result in it.

Congrats, and I'll use this until then. Good job. Now that I think about it, I remember seeing the bug, too. I just kind of ignored it like Doomchibi - I have a ton of mods and I figured it was Vanilla Expanded's fault.

Not my downed colonists. The downed pawns of other factions. They appear in the capture section of the caravan reform screen, but then you anger the faction by making them prisoners.

I have mods like Real Ruins and More Faction Interactions that cause me to encounter friendly factions on the map in various missions. I have the Hospitality and the Hospital mod, so I could take care of them.

@AZGreentea I'm guessing what you mean is that you just did something off-map (like raided a hunting camp or destroyed an off-map psychic droner) and you have some downed colonists. You want to re-form the caravan from the World menu, but doing so doesn't allow you to select those downed pawns to be part of the caravan?

I'm not sure I've ever noticed this before. Does rescuing the downed pawns into sleeping spots first make it so that they can be selected in the caravan forming menu?

While they are add it, I need the ability to rescue friendly pawns on caravan formation. Seems pretty messed up to leave 5 friendlies dying on the ground while I walk away with the loot because all I can do is capture, lol.

I have been noticing I no longer got the faction goodwill improvement, I don't even get the message about "member left map healthy". If I release a healthy prisoner to a non permanently hostile faction, I also don't get any bonus. I figured it was due to my obscene number of mods and had no idea it was a widespread issue. Thank you for the temporary fix at least!

If you want to convince yourself, just play normally and look for an opportunity to rescue someone. Once they decide to leave your base and are walking out of the map, create a save point. Let them walk out without this mod enabled and verify that you do not get any goodwill (not even a message in the top left). Then enable this mod and reload from that save point to verify you do get the goodwill when this mod is active.

Based on the game’s code, it almost seems like an intentional change, but the there are in-game tooltips that explicitly say you can get goodwill from rescuing them (and yet you don’t) so I’m convinced it is an unintentional bug so figured I’d try to fix it.

@Salad Snake it’s situations like when you have visitors / trade caravan / friendly help on your map and one of them gets downed. You rescue them (take them to your bed and tend / feed them) and then they leave. This always used to give 12-22 goodwill (based on how many times you tended them according to the game’s code). But two minor patches ago, they changed the way the function was implemented and it broke it.

I reported it to the devs a few weeks ago and someone else already had. It’s also called out on the wiki. I brought it up on the modding discord and subreddits as well and a few people had the same reaction as you (convinced it was still working the same) but then they went and tested it and realized it is in fact broken.

Do you mean goodwill from the faction that the pawn belongs to or do you mean a positive opinion between the pawn being rescued and the pawn doing the rescuing? AFAIK the faction goodwill comes when the pawn leaves the map healthy, and I'm quite confident that still works fine.
