@Koolala No Discord, I only contact Squall over steam. We're on different time zones so it's not super easy.
Koolala Sep 14 @ 3:14pm
@leplubodeslapin Are you and Squall in a shared discord server that I could link them if they wanted to get in touch with you?
leplubodeslapin  [author] Sep 14 @ 10:09am
@Koolala You're welcome :o I don't know if the CS:Legacy dev team asked for permission to Squall.
I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. They didn't ask me to copy plenty of ideas from my CS2/CSGO versions, but they wouldn't be the first (many rip offs are made, very few people actually ask for permission ...)
Koolala Sep 13 @ 1:22pm
@leplubodeslapin Thank you, you are awesome for being so friendly are replying to everyone here. I was asking because I was curious and I believe the CS: Legacy dev's made a fan version of pool_day https://youtu.be/PspuiHlF5dM?t=75 I hope your right and they get in touch with Squall if they haven't already.

Hey @Koolala
Yes Squall was on board with me doing a CS2 version of fy_pool_day from the beginning because he liked the CSGO version I made 13 years ago.
When I finished it, I received a few feedbacks from Squall but overall he was happy with it. I then released the map and made him a co-creator of the map, so when Valve reached us out he was already part of the process.
Valve does not own the map, it's ours (the CS2 version), but we have a use agreement contract with them.
fy_pool_day's copyright is owned by Squall, I just made the CSGO and CS2 versions with his approval.

Ideally when your work is based on a map from someone else, it's better to ask for permission. You should try to ask him, I don't see why he wouldn't be happy to have more fan-made projects like this one :)
Koolala Sep 12 @ 9:39pm
Was the copyright for 2001 pool_day by Squall given to leplubodeslapin? Or was Squall open to anyone to making a copy of pool_day?

I'm asking because of wanting to make another map based on CS 1.6 pool_day and want to know if that is that ok? Was a pool_day license given to Valve when pool_day was put in CS2?

Yes sorry @Teron, it's a game bug, not a map bug :/ Nothing I can do about it unfortunately

Sorry @The Silliest Goose I'm confused, what basement ?
Maybe you remember some spin-off versions of the map, like CS:S ones ?
The Silliest Goose Apr 25 @ 4:24pm

Great job man!!
We need more fy maps ports in CS2. Thank you for this!

A very good map, happy to see that in the game!
leplubodeslapin  [author] Mar 24 @ 5:19pm
@IK1RU Yes i'm very surprised that pool_day is still played today, Arms Race seems to be a good fit for it.
I can't give details on how things work with Valve, we have a contract that lets them decide to continue running the map on their servers or not.
I don't know what is more profitable for them. Even though Pool_day works nicely for Arms Race, it's nowhere close to what Anubis or Cache were to the game when they bought the rights for these :)

So idk what the future holds, but i feel very lucky and grateful that people enjoy and play on this map daily!
IK1RU Mar 24 @ 4:12pm
Poolday is the most played map in Arms Race, no doubt Valve is looking to keep it. But how does the payment system work? And wouldn't it be more profitable for them to buy it right away?
leplubodeslapin  [author] Mar 24 @ 4:01pm
I don't know @IK1RU, no such thing is planned. In any case, we (Squall, Wenceslas and I) are all marked as co-creators of the CS2 map.
IK1RU Mar 23 @ 10:35pm
How will it work if Valve tries to buy the rights for the map? I imagine the rights still belong to Squall, but in that case, do they have to pay him for the rights and buy the map from you on CS2 to implement your remake?

aw fiddlesticks. is there a way i could get the vmap file to take a whack at it myself?
leplubodeslapin  [author] Mar 3 @ 3:54pm
No sorry @onionviper, I actually gave it a try at some point but it was a lot of work to fill all of the gaps and i'm already on another project :/
onionviper Mar 3 @ 2:57pm
has the "opened" version released yet?
leplubodeslapin  [author] Mar 1 @ 11:08am
@IK1RU, i meant also that it's a minor severity because it's not present in the map included in the game (on Arms Race gamemode, with no weapons on the ground). It's been a while since I reported it, it's probably lost in a backlog somewhere ^^ I just meant that it's a bug I can not fix on my side unfortunately.
IK1RU Mar 1 @ 2:46am
"so minor" But at the same time they aren’t really fixing anything. No updates in February include real bug fixes. Only maps, animations and UI fixes.
leplubodeslapin  [author] Feb 28 @ 3:41pm
Actually @(*^_^*) Colonel KFC Chickens, there are grenades in the pool. However there's a bug from the game that makes them behave weirdly once you pick them up, you can't use the '4' key to select this item, but if you use your mouse wheel you can switch to it.
It's been there since the beginning, I reported it to Valve but it's so minor that it has not been taken care of yet.
Colonel Chicken KFC (*^_^*) Feb 28 @ 6:26am
The missing grenades in the pool is a big down.
IK1RU Feb 17 @ 11:03pm
Yes, certainly, but this time I am really asking myself the question since Combat Master is a PC game. Hope this helped!
leplubodeslapin  [author] Feb 17 @ 2:00pm
Thanks for the info @IK1RU, Pool day is the creation of Squall (author on this workshop entry), I am not aware if he gave the rights to use his Intelectual Property to Combat Master or any of the other mobile games making a version of pool day. (I doubt it but who knows ^^)
IK1RU Feb 16 @ 8:48am
So, I don't know who currently owns the pool day rights, but Combat Master just implemented the map into their game.
.estacado Feb 13 @ 10:10am
@leplubodesplain Thanks 🙏
leplubodeslapin  [author] Feb 13 @ 12:13am
@.estacado Source 2 doesn't use bsp files anymore but vpk. Once you're subscribed to a workshop entry, you can find the downloaded vpk in a folder that is named after the ID of the workshop entry, in here : Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\730\
So for Pool day, the folder is 3070923343 (you can find the ID in the URL)

I always found it odd, so many download and so few rates. Just saying, supporting your creator is not that hard. Be kind, drop a rate! 🤜🏾🤛🏾
