Glad to see the mod still getting support and updates! Its THE CATHAY mod for any playthrough I do, still can't believe screwed over Cathay like that with the harmony "update"

Oct 8 '25 little tweaks:
*Reduced yin/yang -order for province harmony (there's already plenty of heavy -order going around, it's discouraging and unengaging to have using province yin/yang pile on it so much. Iron Disciplinarian 1/2/3 will now fully counter province yin/yang 1/2/3. sounds good right?)
*Slightly reduced yin +upkeep cost for province harmony
*Increased yang +campaign sight for province harmony
*Slightly increased yang +movement for province harmony
*Moved some +growth out of province harmony and into factionwide harmony

also some equalization with the starter hero traits

Hmm, I haven't been able to recreate the issue on either a new save or an old save after turn 50. Make sure you are not concurrently running both this and Rhox's Pre-4.0 Harmony mod.

This issue only appeared after the latest update, and only after reloading the archive. It is not invalid, only the display disappears, but the effect still exists

Hello author, after a recent update, it was found that loading a save file after playing for more than 50 rounds can cause the harmony display at the top of the interface to disappear. Can you solve this problem.

Not much feedback needed, on my part! This mod is exactly what I wanted, after the harmony "rework" dropped! Shame it did not get the traction it deserves!

That's a good coincidence, Xoudad just modded the Atamans system to Cathay, now this Harmony mod came back, Cathay will look like a proper faction now. I love the chinese mythos and legends, but goddamn Cathay is bare bones in this game smh

@sigmars_disciple Thanks for the suggestions mate, I will take a look eventually. It's sad CA keep messing things up, it kills the desire of modding the game. I don't blame Windows Treant for abandoning this Harmony mod, every goddamn "patch" breaks the mods, it's like CA works against us

- Bardathe111's "Great Big Compatibility Pack" for Cathay (I'd personally just use all the mods required by it but leave the actual modpack deactivated in the case of Cathay, you'll see why)
- Expanded Lord Skills + Walk With The Dragon submod (or ELS All-In-One)

- Deer24's Walk With The Dragon & his 'Faction Leaders LL' mod
- Yin Yin & Jade Pirates submod
- Legends of Cathay, maybe Sarvente's custom characters
- Bin Zhong units mod ("Dragons Battle In The Field")
- New start pos mod for Yuan Bo, e.g. by Porkenstein

It's frustrating, one of the few interesting features from Cathay, here it comes CA and remove it for whatever reason smh thank you for this, I wonder if these rebalances are going to synergize with SFO or not

Very nice indeed.

There was a mod for the old system that made it so harmony can be maintained even if with one point of imbalance towards each side.

This allows for a much easier build and many less headaches, specially now with the provincewide harmony.

Could you make a submod like that for this? Affecting both province and factionwide harmony.

but i really appreciate this project, i dislike the rework, and the other mod which just combines both mechanics without adjustment makes cathay too strong

Some other thoughts i also suggested elsewhere in respect to harmony overhaul:


-maybe make it so harmony just checks once at the start of the turn, so that all changes apply simultaneously. e.g. recruiting a new lord will not change your harmony until the start of the next turn when buildings and techs are completed, meaning you can better mix sources for harmony modifiers

-a forecast would be nice, which tells you what your harmony would be next turn(either with the above mechanic or just buildings and techs for normal)

The 2 solutions to that i could think of would be
a) do something similar to the new mechanic where all provincial states are somewhat equally strong(but that doesn't fit too well lorewise imo)
b) the above, but also make it so when you have global disharmony(e.g. 2 yang), all yang aligned provinces get debuffs (similar to how currently yang buildings provide less income). So when you have global harmony all provinces get equally balanced buffs, which fit to their alignment, but when you are in disharmony the respective provinces get debuffs across the board.
That way you could have yin and yang provinces as long as global harmony is preserved

Just played a few turns, and my first feedback would be that the provincial harmony needs some tweaking. As it stands i'd say you usually want to be in harmony within a province(at least 6 control more than any other and 15 growth alone are reason enough imo), which from a lore standpoint makes sense. However, since every province wants to be internally in harmony, this means that any "good" province does not contribute towards global harmony in any way.

My problem with that is that you don't really get the balancing experience of the old mechanic, where you try to balance out all harmony modifiers(from buildings, techs, lords and heroes), and instead the buildings do their own internal harmony, and effectively are not in the pool with lords, heroes and techs.

This looks pretty neat. I'll definitely try it out once my current campaign is done, my previous attempt at the global Harmony restoration mod was that it was way too strong.
