Do I need to allow item to be used by colonist in vending machine to make guests buy it? I didn't allow colonist to use chocolate (they were eating it) to sell it for guests, but they don't buy it.

Do I need to create a new save to add this mod, or can it work in an existing save which already has Hospitality?
Adamas  [author] Mar 17 @ 2:43am
Did you try the "If you don't like items showing up on top of the vending machine..." part of the description?
Gear`O`Derm Mar 16 @ 7:36pm
I don't know why the texture layer of items placed in this vending machine will appear on top of it, it looks very strange
Lucidity Feb 21 @ 4:48am
as it turns out, it was a separate mod. but i do suggest a stack limit size/ more specific options, as im finding it difficult to actually set up stuff to sell. setting the vending machine as a recognized stock pile zone might also be very helpful.
Lucidity Feb 21 @ 4:22am
the stack size options are missing from my game when accessing the vending storage, but im watching a video of someone talking about this mod, and its on theirs. i cant figure anything out about this. but its exactly what i need.

Appreciate the help. Yea I thought vending machines wouldnt require a "shopping area". so what i am now trying is to make a shopping area in one room (which works) and then another area zone covering the vending machines outside. im selecting guests to auto shop in the shopping area by default and the other area is not selected so hope this works.
Adamas  [author] Jan 12 @ 7:21am
With regards to the shopping area I am surprised to hear that it would depend on a shopping area.
I used to test this in dev mode, only hospitality and this mod, plop a power cell and a vending machine next to it, fill the vending machine with smokeleaf joints, trigger a visitors group and the visitors used the vending machine and everybody happy. No shopping area needed.
If that minimal test is not working anymore, I will have a look, because the shopping area should work totally independent.

Hope you're subscribed to the thread, @Secretsquirrel. Basically you have to set a shopping area, if you don't want to use it make a 1x1 area anywhere where you don't have to worry and make it for default for all guests.
Then put another area where your vending machines are and intend to sell stuff with them, don't select this one as a shopping area, visitors should be able to use them this way. Though I am not sure if you need to set an additional area like I mentioned or it's fine with just with the shopping area that will never be used.

@Adamas, I suggest you making vending machines not depend on a Shopping area to exist or if it's not possible having it being mentioned in the description of the modpage or vendor itself.

I honestly for the absolute life of me can not figure out how to remotely get them to buy from the vending machines. I tried to follow ghosts post but...this doesnt work without some kind of tutorial ect as i just cant get it to work.
kamkam Nov 17, 2024 @ 3:43pm
thanks @GhostNickel , I always forget that I need to set up a shopping zone in the settings
GhostNickel Oct 25, 2024 @ 6:05pm
I think I figured out the issue people have had with guests not buying from these. If you have the shopping area set to "No Shopping" then guests ignore the vending machines, but if you place selling zones over them, the guests seem to use the default hospitality system most of the time and not the vending machine system. So you need to have the shopping area set to a different zone that doesn't actually cover the vending machines, so that selling is both enabled and the default hospitality store system isn't used.

does it need research
nicolereganlarson92 Sep 22, 2024 @ 10:20am
cant find cooled vending machine
Tom Trustworthy Sep 4, 2024 @ 12:59pm
I thought I fixed it but maybe im just working around an issue. I would look in the machines info tab on the bottom left and it showed no sales. But if I mark the tile the machine is on as a sale spot then people buy from it and drop money on the floor.

Sounds like I am not using it right but im not sure how to use it right really. Thanks for the reply tho!
Adamas  [author] Sep 4, 2024 @ 11:54am
@Tom the money is not dropped around it: it is stored inside the machine
Tom Trustworthy Sep 4, 2024 @ 4:54am
I don't think the visitors are paying for the food from my vending machine. I have it set to normal price and the visitor setting is not set to give free food. They just walk up and take and I never see any silver on the ground near it.
BinManBill Jul 14, 2024 @ 8:03am
Im not sure if it's because im using the vending shelves but it seems like none of my visitors are purchasing anything from them. Do i have to set them as a shopping area? The visitors always "browse" the goods but never make any purchases.
Adamas  [author] Jun 14, 2024 @ 1:48am
should be fixed in next version 1.2.2 of the mod
-NQ- nick4fake Jun 13, 2024 @ 3:34pm
Same. Looks like fridge vending machine completely breaks functionality of all tasks (no way to set "drop of floor")

No, not work with the "[1.5; 1.4] RimFridge: Now with Shelves!".
Mod from the link above.

I just removed all the mods and tested it by adding only this vending machine mod and the essential mods. It doesn't work. This problem occurs with fridge vending machines.

Also, the problem described by 穆啸 in the comments also occurred to me. all the workstations couldn't choose whether to "put it on the ground" or "put it in the most suitable storage area", there was no response when I pressed that button.

I checked the workstation again in developer mod and a red error log was generated. I leave the log below.

Exception filling window for RimWorld.Dialog_BillConfig: System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: key

For reference, this is version 1.5.
Adamas  [author] Jun 3, 2024 @ 6:00am
There is no plan to add an ATM to the mod.
@ilyvion perhaps your vending machine is in a shopping area of hospitality, that could explain it. But colonists can use the vending machine as regular storage that is normal, but there are mods to prevent that.
@Nyx weird since it is basically a shelf
@governmentlab should work with rimfridge
Jet Jun 2, 2024 @ 6:07pm
@governmentlab it doesnt?
governmentlab Jun 2, 2024 @ 3:09pm
Nyx (She/Her) May 26, 2024 @ 12:31pm
I can't seem to edit this to have more storage slots. What would I need to patch to make that work?
ilyvion May 8, 2024 @ 11:58pm
I'm also having the issue that colonists are taking items out of there for their own use (like taking meals for eating, even though there's plenty of meals available much closer to their dining table), but I'm guessing that's just RimWorld being RimWorld and there's not much to do about it.
ilyvion May 8, 2024 @ 10:35pm
Maybe I'm missing something, but guests buy the items directly instead of "vending" them. I.e. they take the items directly "out of storage" and leave silver on the ground.
TuViejaEnTango May 6, 2024 @ 8:15am
I have seen videos where the "Nutrition Paste Dispenser" acts as a vending machine. Do you know if Medieval Overhaul's "Stew Pot" can also be set as such? Or what can and can't be a vending machine is already defined by the mod?
Tumor May 5, 2024 @ 10:08am
The Mod Options has two "Hospitality: Vending Machines" buttons, the second of which opens the Hospitality config.
Cruel Moose Apr 30, 2024 @ 7:51am
Any chance the option to hide items graphics displaying on vending machines could be added baseline to the mod? Perspective storage hasn't been updated yet.
Inquisition Time! Apr 29, 2024 @ 9:14am
How long until we get actual ATMs like in the picture? To summon bullshit silver out of nowhere to buy my colony's stuff.
Ashe Ferro Apr 28, 2024 @ 12:49pm
I'm running a primarily trading based colony with a precept requiring frequent trades; it would be nice if a sale via the vending machines counted as a trade in ideology
穆啸 Apr 26, 2024 @ 1:34pm
It's strange, everything was normal until when I built the vending machine , all the workstations couldn't choose whether to "put it on the ground" or "put it in the most suitable storage area", there was no response when I pressed that button. It can be easily reproduced.
Tactical Drongo Apr 21, 2024 @ 6:43am
the cooled vending machine does not seem to be registred as storage by the perpective mod (?) might be on that mod though
stellar_kitty Apr 21, 2024 @ 5:21am
Hospitality is updated! :)
Ashe Ferro Apr 20, 2024 @ 5:03pm
Understood, thanks
Adamas  [author] Apr 20, 2024 @ 12:54am
I used the 1.5 version of Hospitality from github to test this.
Hospitality 1.4 does not work on rw 1.5
Hospitality 1.5 is not yet released due to a savegame corruption issue under investigation.
Ashe Ferro Apr 19, 2024 @ 7:26pm
little confused on how this is marked as 1.15 but requiring hospitality when that isn't updated to 1.15 yet; guessing hospitality is still working while outdated?
Eagle-Six Mar 14, 2024 @ 4:20am
or it really just whole white looking from side XD
Eagle-Six Mar 14, 2024 @ 4:17am
yeah...I think the side view texture of vending machine is missing,I try build one near my cashier (just like the 7/11) and I got a plain white cube
Casey Jones Jan 11, 2024 @ 9:00am
That definitely works! Appreciated Adamas

Introducing the self-serve non-electronic sales-kiosk! AKA.. the shelf! It's perfect xD
ROBERT P Jan 6, 2024 @ 1:15pm
Hell yeah, much appreciated!!!
Adamas  [author] Jan 6, 2024 @ 6:07am
v1.1.0
- Add medieval vending machine
ROBERT P Jan 6, 2024 @ 1:34am
Not the person who asked but, that'd be really lovely for medieval stuff!
Adamas  [author] Jan 1, 2024 @ 11:11am
I could add a vending machine option to the vanilla shelf - would that suffice for a medieval version?
@Cruel moose - not sure, is your vending machine indoors? Outdoors it might be...
KemonoAmigo Dec 31, 2023 @ 1:58am
@Cedric They actually existed. Look up the wiki page for vending machines. They were invented more than 400 years ago.
DangerPiece_ Dec 28, 2023 @ 1:34am
aaah, I must've overlooked this. Thank you for the response!
Adamas  [author] Dec 27, 2023 @ 9:46pm
@DangerPiece if you have rimfridge or simplefridge there is a cooled vending machine
DangerPiece_ Dec 27, 2023 @ 12:00pm
Is there a possility to add a cooled vending machine? so my meals don't spoil.
John Shephard Nov 27, 2023 @ 9:08pm
medieval vending machines lmao
