It is not, since both mods modify the same files.

I don't suppose it's possible to make this work with the Victoria 2 style map is it?
Foxomexra  [author] May 6 @ 9:09am
The only difference is that paper map all the way uses the vanilla colour scheme and map style, while my mod changes the map style. It's just a matter of preference for which you like the look of more.
Lopatou_ovalil May 5 @ 9:06pm
Hello what is the difference between this mode and paper map all they way?
Foxomexra  [author] Jan 3 @ 12:29pm
Not likely, especially since SGO is no longer in development.
bingKilling Jan 3 @ 12:15pm
Can we get a SGO version?

The political map itself won't have an impact, it's the removal of the terrain map which may give you a noticeable improvement (especially when zooming in/out).
[BRE] Humbert "Le Frog" Sep 19, 2024 @ 5:35pm
would you say this or the normal political map has a better impact on performance?
Foxomexra  [author] Sep 16, 2024 @ 2:34am
I believe the launcher has a shader delete button somewhere as well, but I may be mistaken.
Foxomexra  [author] Sep 16, 2024 @ 2:33am
Take a look at the third screenshot I have above to let me know how comparable it is to what you see. If the mod is working as intended, you should never see any terrain of any kind at any point - no height changes, no texture, etc. It should simply be the country's political color.

I can guarantee you at the very least that the problem is somewhere on your end, I have checked the mod files and made sure it does indeed work how it should.

Could you take a screenshot of what you see, then send it to me (there's a discord link in the page description, or I believe you could post an image link in the comments here).

A potential solution would be finding your local Victoria 3 files (on a Windows this would be Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria 3 but it will likely be different for you) and delete the entire "shadercache" folder. Upon game start it will regenerate your shaders and may solve the issue if the verifying game files didn't work.

The terrain map disappears and the texture of the terrain is also not loaded, I guess, cause when I zoom in and out there is no fps reduction. Just the black country borders are not visible on the political map. I will have a look at the game files.
A side notice is: I get approximately 1000 errors in the debug mode when the mod ist active. But even in the vanilla game without any mod installed I get approx. 800 errors...I don't know its a quite weird finding. I will have a look some time more. If I find something, I will let you know.
But thanks a lot for responding so quick!

Perhaps try verifying game files.

When you load the game with the mod, does the terrain map disappear at least? Or is it just not working entirely?
Robbe Sep 16, 2024 @ 1:47am
Unfortunately the problem still persists. I also tried to reinstall Victoria 3. I am using an Apple M1 with texture streaming set to "on". Do you think that a M1 processor or maybe even the OS is dealing differently with this mod? According to the mod list, only this mod is currently installed after reinstallation.
Foxomexra  [author] Sep 13, 2024 @ 4:07pm
The mod appears to be functioning fine for me - try starting your game with only this mod enabled and see if your problem persists.

Let me know what the result is, and provide a mod list (and order) if you please
Foxomexra  [author] Sep 13, 2024 @ 3:50pm
I'll take a look at it Robbe

Hi Foxomexra, thank you for this great mod! I's a really exciting mod since it makes it possible to deactivate the entire terrain level. However, when I use this mod, the country borders are not visible. Is there a way to fix this issue? I am not completely sure, if my mod load order is the reason but I tried now a lot of combinations including to load your mod at the end and also alone. Kind regards, Robbe

@AlexDarkar117 That would be your Map Theme. The water color is decided by that - just open "Themes" in the pause menu and change the "Paper Map" to whichever coloring you are satisfied with. The screenshots are taken with the vanilla "Victorian" style, whereas you may be on one of the DLC themes.

That should be the issue, but if it is not, please let me know!

What mod did you used to add and darken the oceans? In my case, while the map is changed, it doesn't look as the screenshoots of the mod.
Foxomexra  [author] Jun 27, 2024 @ 3:31pm
Mod updated to 1.7
doctorgiorgos115 Sep 13, 2023 @ 5:02pm
can you please make a version of this with dark water and the province lines to not dissapear when full zoomed out. makes giant countries look barebonnes
doctorgiorgos115 Sep 11, 2023 @ 5:25am
Yes but i am sure there is a way to edit the map to make better edges, specifically for this mod. I believe most people playing vic3 don't care about the visuals zoomed in etc
Foxomexra  [author] Sep 10, 2023 @ 8:36pm
What is interesting is that the Vic3 province map is actually far more detailed than Vic2's, however Vic3 allows you to zoom in further (which makes the rough edges more visible).
Foxomexra  [author] Sep 10, 2023 @ 8:34pm
If you are referring to how the borders of countries and coastlines are box-like, that is unavoidable. You are seeing the pixels of the province map. If you prefer, I have a version of the mod which keeps the terrain map and thus does not have this problem (that mod is simply "Modern Political Map").
doctorgiorgos115 Sep 10, 2023 @ 8:27pm
I love this mod. But it has a lot of drawbacks due to the game, not the mod. Since the map isnt supposed to be political when full zoomed in, the map has bad edges. Making it look like a worse version of vic2 map. This may be a silly request but is there a way to make the map edges better? I know this is due to vic3 so i respect evem if the answer is no
Foxomexra  [author] Sep 9, 2023 @ 6:37pm
It has now been uploaded as "Modern Political Map".
Foxomexra  [author] Sep 9, 2023 @ 12:32pm
That's a limitation of the game, the political map can only be so detailed. This mod is actually a product of another project of mine, modifying the borders for the Victorian Flavour Mod. Altering the terrain map is a pain, so I just removed it.

The version of this with the terrain map should be uploaded by midnight tonight (EST).
Exend Sep 9, 2023 @ 12:29pm
Yeah, I agree with that guy. Looks good when zoomed out, but it doesn't have the same aesthetic as EU4 when zoomed in. There's no detail and that just makes it look terrible when zoomed in, losing all the dynamic city building features & everything.
Marik333 Sep 5, 2023 @ 8:31am
Ok, till then. Thanks.
Foxomexra  [author] Sep 5, 2023 @ 8:26am
I can do so. I will post here again once it is uploaded. (It will take a day or two)
Marik333 Sep 5, 2023 @ 7:17am
Could you please make a version that only looks like this when zoomed out? It looks very clean.
Foxomexra  [author] Sep 2, 2023 @ 4:59pm
Thought it would take longer, but turns out all it came down to was them preceding the names of certain map elements with underscores now. So what used to be "FlatmapHeight" is now "_FlatmapHeight" and so on.
TBM Sep 2, 2023 @ 4:55pm
damn that was quick, thx champ :pcbs::pcbs_cpu:
Foxomexra  [author] Sep 2, 2023 @ 4:46pm
Update will be out within the hour, PDX apparently changed how they reference some of the map files in the code.
TBM Sep 2, 2023 @ 4:09pm
black screen, no worry do it when you can
Foxomexra  [author] Sep 2, 2023 @ 12:46pm
I do, I've been holding off for the Victorian Flavor Mod update since that's what I play Vic 3 with.

Is this mod not working in the current update?
TBM Sep 2, 2023 @ 11:57am
Do you planing to update this mod?
Foxomexra  [author] Jul 30, 2023 @ 6:42pm
Suppose it would be, since all the city and building models just don't appear. Improving performance wasn't an aim, but that's real nice to hear. Glad it's working well for you!
TBM Jul 30, 2023 @ 5:01pm
really good mod, game is smooth even in mid-late game :HKIndustry::Industrialist:
