Anyway, I keep your original route. I don't know what your future plans are with this route, and how it would compare to the current version, or its future form, but thank you for your improvements so far.
This took me quite a while to do and it has now pushed me in the direction of not expanding the route any further due to the mess it has caused in my U.S route projects.
I will now be updating any faults found during testing before making the route final.
Thank you for your understanding.
I'm now going to have to figure out what scenery etc I've used and replace it, then remove the Caltrain link, so the next update will be delayed.
This just isn't good at all. I'll post again when I have an update on this.
1: Is there any reports of any errors with the route.
2: Does it overwrite any other route.
I've just done a quick one now and it works, so when you start the route you should now see 3 trains in San Diego and a couple of others elsewhere between there and Oceanside.
- Are you using Quick Drive?
- Do you have all the required routes installed?
- Does the route editor work (it opens in S.D)?
- Have you cleared the cache?
I'm unsure what else to suggest, sorry.
The next update to the route on here is going to be a massive one which I'm sure everyone will enjoy when they see it.
I'll re-lay the tracks there and see if that fixes it for the next update....
The assets used in that other Surfliner route are RCAP freeware from railworksamerica.com as well as VP Road pack and VP tree packs from Vulcanproductions.
So that is what I found out.
Then I had to switch from Main 3 to Main 2 at CP Santa Fe Springs and back to Main 3 at CP Buena Park. It would be more convenient to stay on Main 3 to keep those 75-79 mph (instead of a drop to 50 mph twice).
AND: most of the switches at Los Angeles Union Station have a max. turnout speed of 12 mph. If I interpret the schematics correctly, you should only get 20 mph when driving Track 8/9 <-> Lead 4, Track 5 <-> Lead 3, Track 3 <-> Lead 2 and Track 10, 11, 14 <-> Lead 5. By the way: I am missing Track 15 with its new platform ;)
Currently rebuilding scenery and tracks in San Diego, to align with real life future BNSF and Coaster track and signalling upgrades.
I have also a started on another addition to the route that may surprise a few people - so watch this space.
The route upgrade is not a year old yet, so I will keep adding a few things for now.
I'm glad to clear up any confusion regarding our project. I don't want to hijack this comment section with conversation about a different route mod so I'll leave it here.
Thanks for your understanding!
the only way I got to know about an improved version of Surfliner was by a video on
Schnauzahpowahz's channel from June 2023. There is a link in the description but it is broken (as is https://brandonrailfan.wixsite.com) . I couldn't find any other reference. Then I came along this update in the Steam workshop. Apart from my previous post I never mentioned it elsewhere. So good for you and apologies for the misunderstanding on my part.
I appreciate any community work done on any route (I happen to like).
We just updated our website and I invite you to take a look at it:

Thanks!
All platforms are there in real life, the one with no canopy in the sim is newly built in the real world.
I was tempted to completely change all the tracks to the San Jose route ones, however it would be a massive task sadly. Hope you enjoy the final release shortly when it's done.
