theres a lot of recipes that need modding out every gene from the mod to be precise because they are meant for androids

Which recipe is producing those, just to double check? The full random one should be using the vanilla gene distribution system, so I'm not sure if there's anything I can do there, but if it's one of the more specific ones I can most likely add a filter for that, yeah.

would you be able to make it so subroutines and hardware genes cant be made with this from vanilla races expanded androids?

The base recipe (i.e. the one that isn't filtered) is supposed to be using the general gene distribution system so it shouldn't matter, unless the mod does something funky with that. I'll take a look as soon as I can concentrate on any code.

Does load order matter? I can't seem to ever get any genes from the Superhero Genes mod, idk if they need any special coding though, could be that

@The Next Decade So, I joined the VE discord, to ask about the "meat infinitely filling tanks" issue, since I've had that myself and was curious if there was a solution. And it was suggested to pass on that you could join the Vanilla Testing Expanded discord to discuss with the VE devs directly

That would be so awesome! In my previous colony I would ripscann prisoner and then revive them with VE psykers... Im Not sure if I want to do that again

@K_Body I will fully admit that's partly by intention, as I just don't really like the vanilla methodology of gaining genes. However, I'll see if I can finally wrangle myself into figuring out how to setup configs so you'd be able to change the costs yourself.

Is it possible to change the cost of geneslurry per genepack? one corpse for a pack seems to overshadow gene extractors and things alike

@DaddioPB1: Get either a Gene Extractor or a Gene Hemo Converter. The former should be in Storage if you have one of those mods, the latter is in Biotech.

Feed either corpses or humanoid meat into the Gene Extractor, or hemogen into the Gene Hemo Converter.

Unfortunately I don't think there's much I can do about the Human Meat bug, as AFAIK it seems to be a bug with the implementation of things in VEF rather than this mod.

I'll take a look at the Alphapack issue though.

Have the same issue too. Produced thousands of genepacks with only 1 unit of human meat

And I can't craft alphapacks anymore for some reason

I've got the same issue as twilight, my 200+ gene slurry storage filled up entirely from 0 with 6 human meat and the meat didn't even vanish :JoeWheelerApproves:

So I found an odd, if amusing bug. If one has the Fast Crafting debug option enabled, the gene forge doesn't appear to run out of fuel/gene slurry.

Seems to have been a vanilla weirdness, where FurnitureBase now AUTOMATICALLY puts everything into the Furniture category, meanwhile in the past it didn't.

That second part is, unfortunately, out of my hands. Gene Slurry Extractors are TECHNICALLY storage as far as the game is concerned, and Deep Storage automatically nabs anything it sees as storage buildings and shoves it in its own category. I've been trying to see if there is a way to blacklist my buildings but no such luck.

As for ghost extractors, I have no idea the hell'd they suddenly came from. Currently trying to see if I can find a way to hide them.

Ah, I did not try a powered one. Just tried now, the gizmo showed up just fine. I suppose the only issue then is the ghost extractor. I should also mention that when running HAR, the Alien extractor also appears. Both ghost extractors are also moved to Storage when running Deep Storage.

Okay, I have checked things and I can in fact replicate the "Random slurry extractor in frniture" bug. What he hell.

As for "No UI gizmo to convert one extractor into another", it only appears if the Extractor is powered. Has the one you've tried to switch been powered?

@Gorlath Huh. That is EXCEPTIONALLY weird, considering that all of that functionality relies mostly on XML. I'll see if I can figure out what happened.

Think I've found a bug. Running just this mod and its prereqs, I'm seeing a ghost Gene Slurry Extractor variant appearing in my Furniture architect menu for some reason. It has no construction cost or research requirement so I can just build it for free at game start, and nothing can be stored in it. In addition, there's no UI gizmo to allow me to convert one extractor into another, even if I build the one I'm supposed to after researching it.

Might have found a bug, I'm running a bunch of other mods so there is a chance of conflict\interaction. What I found is if you are full on gene slurry haulers will place a corpse on the hopper but it is not consumed as the system is full. However, if you then have someone create genepacks you will refill the used gene slurry but the corpse on the hopper is not consumed allowing infinite packs to be created.

Possibly a similar situation as what Eng-Chasers experienced.

Now the only thing that remains is to make building material using the slurry.
I want a machine that makes solid building material (no idea how useful it will be) to make walls, floors and to use as material for other buildings and items too.
Take people, process them into slurry to make construction material. Now that is the future

it seems that in my game when I put human meat made by Gene Ripper inside the accepting pod set to consume meat; the meat wasn't consumed and it keeps producing genepacks infinitely.

May have been an entirely other causes, I will investigate further tomorrow.

Yes. This mod is intended to be another option besides the trading gacha and the "shove a mutation gene into a prisoner" gacha, and allows you to specifically craft certain KINDS of genepacks, but otherwise it's still random.

I think there was a new update with the 40k Genes mod that is causing a problem. The geneseed pack that I forged doesn't contain any genes at all. I was able to do it a couple of days ago, but today is no joy. Culled down any new mods that I added in between, and it still isn't working.

hey, great mod! I wonder tho, would human meat generate more/less or the same ammount of GS than a full corpse?

Also I'd like to make a recommandation, I think it would be nice being able to put genepacks in the extractor to recycle those we get in double (for less GS than than the initial cost maybe?) since it looks like we can't sell the ones we get from the geneforge.( I had a merchant buy genepacks I found in a lab but couldn't sell "mine", idk if it's a bug)

Well, one thing you should check is if it's set to the right mode.

There are three modes: vanilla pawn corpse, HAR alien corpse, Human Meat.

Then you should check if the filter settings of the Extractor are set to allow the kind of corpses you want to feed into it. Colonist-only, Strangers, etcetera.

It doesn't accept Rotten corpses so that's another thing you should check for.


If it's in the right mode, and you've set the filter correctly, and the corpses aren't rotten, and they still refuse to haul corpses, then, well, uh...

Blame Rimworld I guess. Or some mod incompatibility. Everything should be set up correctly and AFAIK there isn't much I can do to try and fix it because I am literally doing it the same way vanilla does its jobs.

Is there something specific I have to do in order to get them to haul corpses to the machine? The extractor's been sitting there for a good while and nobody's touched it.

It pops up for me, so I think you're just super unlucky. Either that or, again, some mod changed Hemogenic's displayCategory and that rather obviously broke things, considering that's how I filter the genes.

yo got it working but i found another mod incompatibility (or bug) ive put 75 human meat in the meat doesnt dissapear but its filled up all my gene slurry containers to max without the meat getting eaten

Hmm... Seems like i can't get the Hemogenic gene pack from the blood gene packs (unless i'm just super unlucky). I have made hundreds of them and have multiple copies of every other blood gene.

removed all my mods and went on dev mode it must be a mod causing bugs
