fixing occluders and stuff is rlly good for optimization, but why remove detail props? The reason that modern TF2 runs terrible is because of the software CPU particle effects. The polycount on this game is low enough to run on an ancient GPU and the GPU requirements weren't even that high back in 2007. The game really isn't bottlenecked by polygons and detail props.

@A Pebble, optimization is good no matter what. Even if you're running this game on a top tier PC. It still reduces loadtimes, and even a slight fraction of possible lag. It's good for everyone if the changes aren't visibly worse.
