Muchas gracias, realmente es util al escalar modelos

i made an irl tf2 ubersaw, when scaling it down 20% it was still huge, believe me, its just the artstyle ;)

Okay thats fair, that makes sense!
ZYNTRON-X  [author] Apr 10, 2024 @ 1:50pm
well keep in mind, TF2 is a sort of cartoony, so whatever item or character that might be, it wont always have an accurate size, since the ruler i made is base real life measurement
Neutral Lobotomy Machine Apr 10, 2024 @ 1:33pm
Maybe the scaling in TF2 is just wacky? like the Big earner knife is 2 feet long???
ZYNTRON-X  [author] Apr 10, 2024 @ 1:15pm
well the TF2 characters are pretty tall which that's kind of strange, i'm certain that's how high they are and that's how they are made, this ruler i made however, is very accurate... i test it out on several measurements such as: ruler addon in gmod, blender, google, my phone that haves a measurement app built in, etc, don't know how much more accurate i can make it. but i still get a lot of people asking me the same question over... or so it seems...
Neutral Lobotomy Machine Apr 10, 2024 @ 11:56am
Im not sure if this is accurate, it is showing tthe spy as 7ft?

Nice, I used to spawn in doors to measure characters but I never thought of making an actual ruler
LittleArsenal May 18, 2023 @ 12:03am
@Zyntron-X Yeah, the measurements in the Source games are kinda weird and confusing. Its specially difficult to know when some Source games dont have a definitive scale. Still, I admire your patience and speed thought!

I will start using this ruler specifically because the red marker. I liked that, and it helps A LOT in the time of measuring models. Many thanks!

@LittleArsenal thankies ^^ it took a little trial and error just to get it right, and that is to convert steam's language from ''hammer units'' into actual ''inches''... so my part was right in blender, measurement wise.. i just didn't get source engine measurements right, so that is ''hammer units'' so, i'll pretend that doesn't exist, and start using "inches" instead, since steam uses that measurement.... :steamfacepalm: pfff, hammer units... please... use ''inches'' instead steam, then confusing the hell out of me...

Good work!

@Zyntron-X Well, that addon is actually a reupload I think, so we dont know who's the real author, and what models they used as a base for the ruler (I can guess it was the tf2 models, judging by the huge size of the model). If yours was carefuly crafted, then I can only say all the models are oversized in SFM lol
Time to make them "smaller" xD

And yeah, I guess It would be cool if we have your ruler but with the metric system. It would be a nice addition and more comfortable for the users than dont live in USA.
ZYNTRON-X  [author] May 17, 2023 @ 8:18am
.....so, you guys want centimeters huh? well, if i have any time, i will see what i can do... i just need to convert it from ft to cm height...
Thebuttoners22 May 17, 2023 @ 7:45am
uh in foot ?
no cm ?
ZYNTRON-X  [author] May 16, 2023 @ 8:03pm
@LittleArsenal huh... i'm unaware that one existed, but that one goes by centimeters height, mine's however goes by foot height, besides... i don't know about the other persons addon, but mine's was carefully calculated from blender, to hammer world editor, i even tested it with other gmod addon measurement tools and it came out correctly, unless there's something I'm missing, which i don't think there is...
LittleArsenal May 16, 2023 @ 6:18pm
@Zyntron-X The red marker is a nice touch, so I can see this working specially in Blender, since not many people knows the right size of a model when you want to port things into SFM

Now, we have a ruler already ported a while ago, its called "Metric Ruler", which uses centimeters and meters. The problem I am trying to understand is either your ruler is small, or is the Metric Ruler bigger lol.

They differ in about one cm if you try to resize them to match the same height.

Great idea! Thanks!
ZYNTRON-X  [author] May 16, 2023 @ 11:06am
it can be ragdolls, or player models, it doesn't matter... this ruler is precisely calculated from an actual real height ruler. so this can tell you how tall you're ragdolls or player models are, but here's a little inner tip, the ruler can also be decompiled and to be use in blender to measure the height of the models in case if anyone wants to know how high people want their models to be by scaling them in the right order, I've seen so many models with no precise fixed height and they were far off from it, so that being said, this can solve peoples problems instead from guessing. but i do got to say.. im surprised nobody had ever came up with this idea...
LittleArsenal May 16, 2023 @ 12:17am
Hmm... Is this ruler specifically made to measure Gmod player models or something?
Partydonut214 May 14, 2023 @ 5:59am
I was just looking for a way to measure things in SFM, thanks for this!
ZYNTRON-X  [author] May 13, 2023 @ 7:10am
no prob, but still, thankies ^^
Attanie May 13, 2023 @ 6:52am
thank you
