He would love to see this!
I have a request. I am an Orthodox Jew, and the undressed women in the species creation screen is problematic to me - technichally permissible, but against the spirit of the law. Can you create a mod that displays the ghostly figures with clothes?
Thank you!
To the rest of y'all, this is a way to provide inclusivity. Uncontrolled exposure doesn't help. People play games to relax, not to exposure therapy their way into a better life. There's a time and a place for that, it doesn't have to be in video games. Just because someone turns this mod on doesn't mean they aren't seeking help elsewhere.
So please don't take this the wrong way.
I am directing my criticism more towards my fellow arachnophobes.
Hiding from our fears wont help us in the long run.
Otherwise the phobia just grows over time.
My social anxiety and thalassophobia have grown completely out of control, to the point where I have not swam in the ocean for over a decade, and am stuck inside my home.
Phobias don't decline over time, if not exposed to them, they only grow.
So yeah... Don't let it get that out of control...
If you can't even bear seeing a digital spider, then your phobia has grown dangerously powerful.
I would hate to imagine what would happen if you were trapped in a life threatening situation, and your only option was to pass by some harmless spiders blocking your path.
Or God forbid someone you care for were, and you find you are powerless to help them because a spider is in the way...
And the only kind I have zero fear of are tiny jumping spiders, who I happily will let crawl over my hand, but any bigger than that and I get a panic attack.
Biggest spider I ever touched was a tarantula. It was at a fair of sorts, in the Oslo town hall.
They were showing off exotic spiders, and they offered me as a kid to let one crawl on my hand and/or pet one.
I declined to let it crawl on me, but I did very very very hesitantly pet it.
Sadly for me it was one of those tarantulas with bristle hairs, so I got blisters on my fingers, but I still treasure the memory. ^^
Avoiding spiders, even in video games, will only allow the phobia to grow unchecked, like a cancer.
I keep my arachnophobia at a tolerable level precisely by exposing myself to spiders.
I know roughly where all the spider lairs in my home are, and check up on them each day to remind myself that they are just animals, useful animals. Not monsters.
These are big house spiders, btw.
Biggest spider mamma in the house can fill up the palm of my hand easily enough with it's total leg span. To give a rough size.
She has been living with us for years in the same spot in the garage.
I greet her every time i go to the freezer to grab something to eat.
Kinda become a daily ritual of sorts to help calm down my fears.
Pretending like you know what you are talking about because you pulled out the word "peer review" which is a low standard for any review is just silly. I am a retired to be a military police officer who spent 3 months during my duties speaking with practicing psychologists on a variety of psychology topics, and of them I can assure you my information of phobia's is correct.
The only way people can get over a phobia is to confront it in a safe environment before confronting it in the real world, which video games serve as a good medium for.
Therefore, by making mods like this you are only prolonging their phobia and suffering due to it.
