Inspired by the Eldar from 40k,could there be a sort of storage or grave system the souls could be loaded into. Perhaps with a burial ritual. And then they could be extracted for use in warrior bodies when situations grow dire.

This broke on 1.5 after mod updated to 1.6. Was working fine a couple of weeks ago. Now it fails at the end of procedure to extract soul, either with medical operation or extractor from corpse. Is the previous version available for download so I can finish up 1.5 ?

testing with the mod alone doesn't seem to have the bug you mention, this might be a mod conflict, can you post the error log? clicking the error and post stacktrace below it

Update console says "Invalid Cast exception: specified cast is not valid

Reporting as of 1.5, can't get them to work. When I highlight the target to receive the soul, the whole HUD vanishes and clicking does nothing.

You can effectively duplicate a soul by duplicating the person. I'm sure there's multiple ways to do it, but I'd use the Character Editor mod

Is there a way to duplicate a soul? Wanting to pull a mauler twins and have two of the same soul running around.

I am very interested in this concept, but would love to have a more fleshed-out set of criteria surrounding it! A higher skill level requirement, a special ritual (with ideology) or building (without), resource requirements would all be welcome options.

Neat mod, I guess my favorite pawns can now achieve immortality without late game tech from other mods. In my personal opinion, I suggest adding some kind of resource cost to extract souls even for living beings for sake of gameplay balance.

I noticed a bug where you extract and switch both souls from a living colonist to a prisoner from the other faction and viceversa, when the prisoner's soul takes over my previous colonist's body, their AI doesn't know what to do somehow? Like they only wander around in the room, they can't be right clicked even if my selected pawn is drafted nor even being able to interact with them since the menu tabs are also gone. It could be the menu mod (Rimthemes) but I still have my doubts since it doesn't fiddle too much with the vanilla menu.

Alas, there are some grammar errors in the mod itself such as the mood buff but anything else, this mod is really fun to play around.

@sharkcrisp049 if you have a mod that let you create or clone pawn, you can use "extract soul" health recipe to do so

@Auster you should be able to extract soul from living pawn right away as medical operation. as for the item Soul Extracter, it can be found as random reward or on trader

I cannot find the research to actually use this mod nor the workbench you use to craft said item if no research is required.

gene are binded to the body(obviously). so changing soul from one body to another doesn't transfer gene

Interesting. How are genes handled? If you transfer the soul does it inherit the genes from the husk?

I imagine a single character play through where a particularly troublesome raid has gotten your husk closet and soul gem storage running thin.Then your alter breaks down there's only a couple enemies left, and replacing the (insert high tier resource) and repairing the alter will take too long before they break into your inner sanctum.

An interesting perhaps op or late game concept. Soul Receiving alter and a Soul transference implant. The Alter contains a husk your character contains the implant. Should an unfortunate accident occur the soul is transferred into the husk.
