@TomiV You can always just pull provinces out of the history folder. Back everything up first. I do that to mix otherwise incompatible mods together.

The province name is not displayed correctly and is shown as PROV5304.

That's too sad, this mod has great potential. I did a run back in April when I first subscribed and I was disappointed when I saw how ruined the Mission tree is :/ I checked inside de mod files and saw many different things like "modifier" replaced by "flag" for many of the missions.

I don't think that it's the only thing that changed but I hope you'll find a way and the time to work on it to make the mission tree playable again, I like this mod ;)

To Turtwig107: no idea, probably has to do with the culture file and the fact it has become outdated; since im a bit busy with uni (ngl i am receiving the intrigue and learning bonuses from siena university) i think i'll update the mod once eu4 stops receiving patches, given the soon tu be eu5 release. Along with that, i will maybe expand the missions.

To Trapezoid: nop that is original mission file, i dont think i changed it, probably was modified by paradox themselves recently cause it came into conflict with the new mission trees.

To Alexander: i think that has something to do with some adjustement after japan got expanded by paradox, which makes the paths of the mission trees a bit tricky when it comes to dealing with the mod content; same as other fixes, it will follow the release of eu5, which will serve as a platform to launch the mod there as well if possible.

2 questions: only I have some missing gov. reforms? Like I don't have 2, 7, 9, 10, 11 Tier.

Will it be possible, like the Shogun, to prevent wars between daimyos? (For a long game as Shogun with all daimyo)

I was poking around the mod files of the mission tree to try and make my own lil combination mods, patches keep wrecking my lil versions, I'm curious, is there any reason like most of the mission group names have 'japanse' in them instead of 'japanese'? DOM_japanse_missions_1 instead of DOM_japanese_missions_1 etc etc. Just wondering.

Fucking love the mod, one weird interaction though, if this mod is on for some reason the Griko mission of the Byzantine empire doesn't spawn Grikos, super weird, ultra niche, no idea why

Why does "restore the taira clan" basically do nothing? I kind of expected them to get a different mission tree or whatever, but for all the land you have to take just to make it, you just become a different daimyo without any differences besides like ideas

Missions already received a review and i thought them to be fixed, will look into that asap but as far as i knew the only problem left was the positioning of the missions in the tree, and the bug was addressed in the last patch. Keep me updated about bugs, im also still looking for someone more expert in the matter of modding but in the subreddit nobody notices me :'(
If i can find someone good enough to work with the HUD and if i manage to move house or complete the school year i have a lot of things to add, the likes of new unique missions for some daimyos and possibly more events.

This has already been reported, but is there any way to fix EoC missions being cut off by the Ultimate Dynasty mission? I'd enjoy playing with EoC, but I can't because I can't get Cornerstone of the Empire.

Great mod, really enjoyed all the stuff added, but i do have a suggestion to make. The event with Ainu, when it asks if you wanna change culture to Hokkaido or have unrest and authonomy in provinces, the second option is just insanely unplayable. +0.5 authonomy is just too much until the rest of the game, please make it at least half. That is kinda unreasonable that even with all modifiers i got to reduce authonomy it was still increasing a lot.
But that is just small thing i found, whole mod was lots of fun, especially wars at the beginning lasting longer and uniting japan being a bit harder.

I'm guessing this isn't intentional, but Suo/Yamaguchi's event-triggered "Kyoto of the West" modifier grants a global -10% dev cost instead of a local dev cost reduction.

Hi! I think there is some problem regarding the Hokkaido and Sakhalin: just as we see in the Victoria 3, Tokugawa Shogunate didn't really control full of Hokkaido, let alone Sakhalin. If this mod could follow historical facts, it would be better if the Tokugawa Shogunate initially controlled only a small part of the southwestern corner of Hokkaido, while the rest of Hokkaido and Sakhalin remained under the control of the Ainu people and others (similar to the scenario before the establishment of the Tokugawa Shogunate).

Okay I found out what was causing the mission tree to get completely wrecked. Looks like it happens when you have converted to Sino-Japanese culture before taking the mission, and then afterwards it tries to give you the Ming mission tree for some reason combining both the Ming and Japanese missions into a big mess. I used console commands to change the primary culture back to the Japanese group and it fixed it. Unfortunately I have no clue how to fix this one in the code lmao

All good. You have done a great job with the mod, definitely makes the early game and uniting Japan far better! No rush to update it or anything so take your time :) Will definitely look forward to future updates if there are any though

The final issues I have noticed is that the vanilla "Imperial City of Kyoto" and "Sankin-Kotai Palaces" monuments are only usable by the Japanese culture group, so once you flip to Sino-Japanese you cant use them anymore.

Also the mission tree layout can get wrecked at times, such as after unlocking the Emperor of China missions after taking the Mandate which that ones solved easily enough by just increasing the position of each of those missions by 1. Though the entire mission tree seems to implode when I complete the "A New Buddha" mission and I havnt figured out why that is yet.

The main reason behind the strait between hokkaido and manchuria is the fact that my intention to create the mod came to me while playing MEIOU & taxes, and the fact that i wanted a similar expansion of the provinces in a vanilla EU4, so i reworked the map with a similar criteria and added even a few more provinces just to replicate that mod's depth. In MEIOU the authors decided to put a strait there, and since i did not really know weather to keep it or remove it, i decided for the first since those guys must have had some reasons in mind when they added the strait, plus someone acquinted with modding could remove the strait ezpz if they wanted to :3

Also apparently im cringe af and couldn't spell dynasty properly, gotta fix it as soon as possible :'(

A super minor typo I have noticed, whenever you seem to refer to the Yamato Dynasty your localisation has it written as "Dinasty" with an I instead of "Dynasty" with a Y.

Managed to fiddle around with the files and solve the issue, well at least to the point that the "japan_has_encountered_the_west" flag is set.

Your edit to the "Japan Discovered!" event included...

OR = {
japan_region = {
has_discovered = ROOT
}
western_japan_region = {
has_discovered = ROOT
}
}

I changed that to be...

eastern_japan_region = {
has_discovered = ROOT
}
western_japan_region = {
has_discovered = ROOT
}

And then it seems to have worked

Think someone already mentioned it looking through the comments, but the Shinto Incidents are broken, or to be specific "Japan has encountered the West" which with Domination unfortunately weakens half the mission tree due to not being able to change your Isolation levlel, get the special government reform etc.

Its been over a 100 years in my campaign since I discovered Europe, tag switched over to them and they have all discovered me too, yet none of the incidents have fired and they all still say the West has not been encountered.

Also, I could be wrong but I believe its a consequence of this mod, and thats that some of the localization is broken. Such as with the new idea groups showing as "mercenary_ideas" "court_ideas" and "infrastructure_ideas" instead of the "Mercenary Ideas" etc. Also noticed the same with Koreas national ideas when inspecting them.

Not really an issue just personal issue, but I am not much of a fan of the strait you added connecting Hokkaido to Manchuria. Just kinda eliminates one of Japans major advantages which is being an island nation, feels like the equivalent of putting a strait from Calais to England lol

Happy to announce that i finally found where samurai mechanics are stored (00_culture.txt, if you're interested). Samurai should now be able to work both for dismantled Japan, unified Japan AND for Yamato, even tho only Sino-Japanese provinces are eligible for samurai units, to keep realism. Everything else is still WYP, thanks for the subscription and keep on giving feedbacks on every mechanics you encounter that does not work as intended, GL HF!

As soon as the mod will be proven stable (+2 at least), if you're interested, im thinking about adding some new stuff! Depending on the feedback, im planning on adding:

-new events related to major historical keystones of japan, like triggering the Onin war, or the guy who slaughtered the thousands just to try out his new blade(Yoshiwara hyakunin giri tldr);

-new unique disasters, mainly for Ashikaga(losing control of the shogunate), Kyogoku(losing control of our domains), Hatakeyama(Hatakeyama succession crisis), Shiba (Shiba vassals containment breach);

-transforming some major negative events into disasters, mainly for Uesugi(ogigayatsu) and Hosokawa(rise of the Miyoshi);

-adding new mid-tier formable nations, depending on the specific tag you chose to play: Minamoto (Minamoto descent clans), Taira(Taira descent clans), Fujiwara(Fujiwara descent clans), Tachibana(Tachibana descent clans).

Worked non stop these 3 days to make the mod work but i did not think about how hard it could have been to merge modded files to the now updated and changed mirrored files in the normal game, took me a good chunk of time but i shouldn't have screwed up. Still, im sure there are errors left, and i count on you ppl to report them here. Have some other major plans for the mod but didn't tried them out since the major update came out right after i finished the mod, and trying to make it work again proved kinda quirky in the troubleshooting and left many things unsolved, all listed in the release notes, like the samurai units.

Furthermore, since the "Japan Has Encountered the West" parameter (the one that enables a bunch of Shinto events) procs off of a western tech nation discovering the "Japan" region (iirc), they will never proc because the Japan region has been removed and split.

Not sure where to post bugs so I'll post it here; Independant Damiyo are broken. Whenever the game would normally turn a Damiyo into an Independant Damiyo (ie. war for the shogunate or a war to annex a damiyo that's too large), they become Duchies instead.

This second thing isn't a bug but it does bug me, the transition to Sino-Japanese changes the unit sprites from the Japanese ones to the Ming ones. Since the Qing and Yue keep unique sprites, I think the Yamato should, too. It doesn't help that the Ming units look kind of bad after tech 12.

Lastly, forming the Yamato dynasty changes your tag's ruler title Shogun to the Emperor. As I understand it, such a transition would likely keep the Emperor as Emperor and keep the Shogun as Shogun.

I would like to make a suggestion whenever you do decide to update it. Since you're playing as Japan conquering China, I feel like it would make more sense for all Chinese provinces to become Sino-Japanese (as a Japanese culture) than for all Japanese provinces to become Sino-Japanese (as a Chinese culture). Otherwise it feels more like China taking prominence over Japan. Still a wonderful mod!

The mod right now is kinda frozen, since paradox announced a major revamp at asia in general and in particular about japanese mission trees and government reforms. As soon as the dlc gets released, i'll rework the mod accordingly :coffee:
