Custom Consumption

this some flavor text for those who need more details about the wording. I shall simplify so its less stress on the author.

So the lower the consumption value the longer it last correct?

No, it's quite the opposite
- If the value indicated in the sandbox options is 1.0, the item will have the default durability.
- If the value indicated is 2.0, the item will have twice the durability.
- If the value indicated is 0.5, the item will have durability divided by 2.

This is exactly what I needed. Hopefully it works. Running 10-13 hours = 24 hrs in game and the batteries die waaay too fast.

@irrelenvanredundancy increasing the value increases the items lifetime/uses i believe, and yea i agree it has odd and slightly confusing wording
Agente_FLOWERS Aug 21 @ 5:20pm
"I don’t want to be annoying or repetitive since this has been mentioned quite a lot here, but I haven’t been able to find the comment that asks exactly about the condition affecting generators, for example. If I set it to 0.1, does that mean they will last longer?"

Thanks

so if i set radio at 5, it will last 5 times more ? i dont get it
irrelevantredundancy Feb 19 @ 11:33am
I think if the in-game description: units per item was changed to: uses per item it would alleviate the ambiguity of the instructions.
irrelevantredundancy Feb 19 @ 11:28am
Does anyone know if increasing the value in the settings increases the amount of time a resource can be used? or does it increase the amount of the resource that get's consumed with each use?

Hello, could use some help I have an issue with the propane torches not accepting the custom consumption value. I have it set to 100 and in game it is showing 1/1 only and cannot even dismantle a car wreck

Hello everyone. I'll try to update this mod in January 😉

Please update B42 Build
Cushy Dec 19, 2024 @ 10:41pm
Build 42 is out.

Flashlights lasting 7 minutes in Real-Time break the game for me.
So I hope this mod lives on.
PaddiSson_  [author] Nov 28, 2024 @ 9:22pm
@dede loves u. This version already includes the Slow Consumption mod. You just have to indicate the desired values directly in this mod.
dede loves u Nov 28, 2024 @ 4:50pm
does this conflict with slower consumption? or can i install both and load custom below slower?
FATBOYNEZ Oct 30, 2024 @ 8:55pm
Hi have tested with prepper mod sadly is not compatible as battery life seems to not change.
PaddiSson_  [author] Oct 27, 2024 @ 7:45am
@g_BonE It works on existing saves
g_BonE Oct 27, 2024 @ 5:43am
great mod. thanks! Maybe worth mentioning is that a game restart is needed after changing sandbox settings.
PaddiSson_  [author] Oct 26, 2024 @ 8:25am
Please, before asking something read the pinned discussions ! Thanks
PaddiSson_  [author] Oct 26, 2024 @ 8:22am
@Roboute Guilliman No, it's the opposite
Desmond Doss Oct 26, 2024 @ 3:00am
@FATBOYNEZ, didnt higher consumption means its gonna last shorter??
PaddiSson_  [author] Oct 18, 2024 @ 5:01am
@FATBOYNEZ I did not try with Prepper mod, so I can't say nothing about compatibility. But, let me now if you see something wrong.
FATBOYNEZ Oct 17, 2024 @ 5:11pm
Also for anyone coming out of confusion.

Consumption (Capacity) - Higher Number (eg. 1 > 5) = Longer Lasting
Condition (Life) - works as normal > Higher number = Longer Lasting
FATBOYNEZ Oct 17, 2024 @ 5:04pm
Would love if this works with the prepper mod. I love using the prepper flashlight but noticed the battery consumption is not changing when i increase setting.
PaddiSson_  [author] Oct 9, 2024 @ 1:22am
@The_Mute That double the amount of energy it's taking from the battery.
PaddiSson_  [author] Aug 15, 2024 @ 5:30am
@Sanctus Demon. Next time read the description and instructions until the end...
Sanctus Demon Aug 14, 2024 @ 11:31pm
@kirkinton its not pedantic i just legit was so mad, all my items were so broken, aND FYI to all useers, turning items too low,. like how i did by accident, thinking low value meant longer item life, i was BREAKING a serious number of mods, BE CAREFUL, the numbers shown in mod options and such, is the total number of units the item will have, not how much is used per use or any thing ELSE, higher values, will make the items last longer!!! im just spelling this out to save some people who did what i did or something else, hope it helps some one, before they need to fix their game a few times.
Anach Jul 4, 2024 @ 12:18am
@kurikinton The whole reason I'm here searching through comments is due to this exact problem. I agree, it's the wording that is definitely a point of confusion. Also, that condition and consumption are mixed together, and need to be in their own categories, to be easier to read.
PaddiSson_  [author] Jun 5, 2024 @ 4:00am
@Kenpachi Thank you!
Kenpa Jun 4, 2024 @ 5:40am
I'll just say thank you for a mod I somehow didn't notice before, but seems pretty essential to fix some of the odd volumes the game created. Now you can make loot rare and not have to horde so much. Thank you.
kurikinton Jun 2, 2024 @ 7:46pm
Just to add, I think the confusion stems from your use of the word "consumption" in each value description. If it's a "consumption" value then we assume higher number = faster consumption and lower number = slower consumption. But then you also use "condition", so in that case, higher number = better condition (clearly).

So it is kind of counter intuitive without more explanation. At risk of being pedantic. :)
PaddiSson_  [author] May 7, 2024 @ 3:57am
@zerne3. No, this is not planned.
SentientPotato Apr 29, 2024 @ 5:37am
Is there any plans to add more things to change such as toilet paper? Love this mod but i'm using a mod that uses toilet paper but a roll having 8 uses seems really stupid considering the image of the item in game is a roll and not a couple sheets.
Revion Mar 19, 2024 @ 11:45pm
Capacity, though tbf Custom Consumption, does have a better ring to it. It should just make it clear in the mod description that bigger number = lasts longer.
Omni Mar 19, 2024 @ 10:38am
Does this mod change Capacity or Consumption? Seems like its really Capacity, not Consumption? In which case the title is misleading, no? :spiffo:
Revion Mar 18, 2024 @ 10:18pm
@xapti is right, this should be renamed to capacity, not consumption. It gives the opposite impression, which is why so many people are confused.

Also, if I set battery capacity to 10x, and flashlight capacity to 10x, does that mean flashlights will last 100x?
PaddiSson_  [author] Mar 10, 2024 @ 4:45am
@GumInsideMeDaddy It's very simple: if you don't like it, don't use it! Good day
ComInsideMeDaddy Mar 9, 2024 @ 7:26am
The English in this mod is really really poor that confused me so long to figure out what it really means. Please just use your mother language we can translate it by ourselves.
Arès Mar 3, 2024 @ 4:16am
Bravo for this essential mode when you play in 0.01% loot, knowing that the Insanely rare loot is at 0.05% ! Is there an update planned for the B42 ? Nice job :steamhappy:
PaddiSson_  [author] Feb 29, 2024 @ 2:55pm
@HybridJoe
Consumption of vitamins
Default: 1.0 = 10 units per item
Example: 5.0 = 50 units; 2.0 = 20 units; 0.5 = 5 units; 0.1 = 1 unit
Consumption of flashlight
Default: 1.0 = approx. 1111 units per item
Example: 5.0 = 5555 units; 2.0 = 2222 units; 0.5 = 555 units; 0.25 = 278 units; 0.1 = 111 units
HybridJoe Feb 29, 2024 @ 12:28pm
Great mod! I have a question tho: just to be clear, if i increase the value of consuption of the vitamins for example, for 3.0, that means i would have 30 pills in the bottle? The same is for the flashlight and etc? I dont know why but in my mind, decreasing the consumption would increase the number of times i would be able to use it, but i guess i must be mistaken.
Cushy Jan 21, 2024 @ 7:05pm
What's the difference between 'Lightbulb Condition' in your mod and 'Light Bulb Lifespan' in Vanilla?
I have them both set at 52, but if they both modify Condition, then my Light Bulb condition would be 2,704.

Thank you for the mod.
It's an essential mod for me.
I play 24 hour days and it's not realistic at all: even when it's supposedly balanced.
Flashlight lifespan is a notable example.

There's still a ton of stuff that needs to be balanced for realistic 24 hour days, but this mod sorts a few critical things out.

@kit Your welcome 😉
kit Jan 7, 2024 @ 1:22am
Absolutely fantastic mod, I love the depth of customization. Working perfectly in 41.78.16, thank you OP!
CoboCabana Jan 6, 2024 @ 8:12pm
If you find one that does that let me know! lol. I havent had any luck as of yet : (
CoboCabana Jan 6, 2024 @ 3:36pm
Does this mod allow you to increase the duration that meds last? I play on 6 hours days and find that I have to take painkillers every 1/2 hour. I think it would be interesting to make the pills last much longer but lower how many pills (how many uses) are in each pack
xAlphaStarOmegax Jan 5, 2024 @ 8:59am
You're welcome. Thanks for the wonderful mod. :D
PaddiSson_  [author] Jan 5, 2024 @ 8:58am
@xAlphaStarOmegax Thank you !
@xapti Ooops... Second language as you said 😅
@yO it depends which type of batteries : for example cars batteries can't be modified.
xAlphaStarOmegax Jan 5, 2024 @ 8:45am
I mainly use this awesome mod for extending the life of soap and towels since it's not realistic how fast those things deplete and run out.
yO Dec 22, 2023 @ 10:38am
Does anyone know how to make batteries last longer without regarding a specific device? Just batteries themselves, is it possible?
xapti Dec 3, 2023 @ 8:45pm
Rename this mod to "custom capacity", along with replacing all instances of "consumption" to "capacity". I don't know if it's due to English being a second language or something, but "consumption" is not the right word to be using for this.
