Calorie Fix

@Uriel-Sama - Not sure thats true. But regardless, for PZ purposes, just hanging out at your base cooking or organizing inventory, which requires your character to move around a lot to access thigns shouldnt burn more than doing a marathon outside scavenging and running from zombies,,, which is one of the main issued I tried to fix.
Uriel-Sama Nov 7 @ 3:23am
ironically in real life, walking does burn more calories than running:

running -> burns carbohydrates
walking -> burns fat

iv been playing the update without this mod and i can say i dont need to eat a gigamart of food a day. devs finally fixed the game! HOWEVER I'm still eating 1 or 2 MORE cookies then i did with this mod installed. so all in all this mod still cuts the calories down more then vanilla.

It’s better to have your mod installed even with the new update to it. This mod is essential
House of Rahl Oct 1 @ 1:14pm
i went ahead and did some lengthy testing on the calorie cost and added it to the discussion section of the mod. you can find the discussion section on one of the tabs above, right under the title name. i don't know how big the changes that they made to crafting or other timed activities they mentioned.

hope yall find the information useful.

Hey all - the mod should still work in 42. What I dont know, because I dont really play anymore, is if it is still needed after their "supposed" calorie changes that they did themselves. Best way to know would be if someone uses the display bars mod, then disable this mod and have your char run a fixed distance, say between two street blocks. Then note how many calories it took to do that, vs walking the same distance.
Fatecheater Sep 30 @ 7:37pm
Anyone tested 42.12 with this mod?
Rachel L Sep 27 @ 1:09pm
is this mod still needed?
House of Rahl Sep 27 @ 1:05pm
with 42.12 they "Rebalanced metabolics multipliers for calories consumption". since the comment doesn't specify exactly what they changed with that i duno how it might be effected by this mods edit to walking calorie cost.

still of the opinion our devs need to either nerf calorie cost of activities or massively buff the amount of calories we get from food in b42. can't recall ever struggling with weight in b41. great mod btw.

Goated mod. As much as I love Build 42's new visual upgrades and new stuff, I HATE that the Devs are trying so hard to make the game 'realistic' as possible but all of the changes only favour making the game harder all while ignoring convenient realism like Kentucky suddenly being a gun-free state in the 90s (lol what?) and of course, intentionally making the body weight system make no sense just to push cooking as a skill.
L!ge Aug 29 @ 6:53am
Thank you, now everything is perfectly clear :rep2:
DreadLordNaf  [author] Aug 29 @ 5:35am
@L!ge - When you select load game, there is an option for "more" in the right side corner. If you click that there is an option to enable or disable certain mods for that save file. So if you are adding this mod mid-game, select it there next time you load it up.
L!ge Aug 29 @ 5:20am
"You have to enable it in the load game screen section" - сould you please explain in more detail? I’m a beginner and I don’t fully understand what you mean, plus your language is not my native one :BEfear:
DreadLordNaf  [author] Aug 19 @ 5:44am
Yeah in theory there shouldnt be any conflicts with that.
tilarium Aug 19 @ 1:15am
@Poppingummy I'd assume no conflicts as well. As you said, that affects the amount the food items have while this affects the burn rate of the player.
GŌŌD MŌRNING Aug 18 @ 6:17pm
Would there be any compatibility issues with this Real Calories and Nutrients Overhaul mod? I'd assume no since yours deals with the burn rate while theirs deals with the calorie values of items but I may be wrong.

@tilarium In my game I don't have access to fishing and I don't have butter either, I'm only raising chickens and I have to eat about 8 adult chickens per day to not lose weight, if this same thing happened in real life I would already be a "butterball".
DreadLordNaf  [author] Jul 21 @ 6:10pm
Yeah I kind of feel the same. My peak play time was about 3 years ago a bit before I posted this mod and before the 41.78 changes, and honestly things felt pretty good then. It's seems like they are all over the place now with calories and weight since...
tilarium Jul 21 @ 2:13am
@La I remember reading previous that the calorie system as it is in game is how the devs want it currently. Probably to force players to have to cook and eat a lot of food to keep weight.
La__fonzi Jul 20 @ 10:15pm
i think someone needs to do a complete overhaul of the weight system in this game its completely backwards and counter intuitive as ♥♥♥♥. i get the need to simulate a starving mechanic in a survival game but none of this games mechanics in regards to this system relates to any real world behaviour
Snakebite Sam Jul 8 @ 3:57am
@DreadLordNaf Thank you for responding. I started a new game in debug mode, and found my calories were draining normally. I messed around with my mods but wasn't able to replicate the issue a second time, so it seems to be working perfectly fine now.
DreadLordNaf  [author] Jul 7 @ 2:00pm
@snakebit sam - if you are using any other mod that affects calories, then this mod will likely conflict causing that. I just recently retested it on 42 and it still works, at least when its alone.
Snakebite Sam Jul 7 @ 3:18am
I played with this mod and it seemed to cause my character to stop losing calories *altogether*. I ate a tub of ice cream to get the double up arrow, did an hour of burpies and sprinted from Rosewood to Muldraugh and not once did the arrows disappear.
DreadLordNaf  [author] Jul 6 @ 6:25pm
@RudyTheNinja - It's not. I had an argument with one of the mods/devs on steam forums about this and it is for sure intended, even though dumb.
RudyTheNinja Jul 6 @ 2:16pm
I'm not subbed to the thread but still got a notification :lunar2019deadpanpig:
Since I was here I thought to read up on the mod's description under new consideration that the change was apparently intentional and I should maybe not use this mod then

"...you actually save calories and get fatter by running versus walking everywhere which is counter intuitive and makes no sense"

"... doing things like resting at your safehouse and moving around organizing things will burn as much calories as running a marathon outside all day"

It has to b a bug/mistake lol wtf
CaaRl Jul 6 @ 6:10am
@DreadLordNaf Thank you
DreadLordNaf  [author] Jul 6 @ 5:57am
@CaaRI - Yes when you load a game, there is a option,, maybe under "more", i forget where exactly that you can enable it on a saved game.
CaaRl Jul 6 @ 1:40am
Sorry for such a question, but I didn’t quite understand, to include a mod in an existing save, you need to activate it in the Saves tab, select the desired save and add this mod there?
RudyTheNinja Apr 6 @ 2:26pm
Oh, I've got months inbetween times I play PZ n I just came back to it
I forgot or didnt know it was intentional; there was just so much talk and mods about it I thought it was definitely a mistake ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
DreadLordNaf  [author] Apr 6 @ 5:14am
@RudyTheNinja - I am not aware its a bug. Its a questionable but purposeful design decision they implemented in 41.78 that they seem to be sticking with.
RudyTheNinja Apr 5 @ 3:17pm
Still not fixed?
When was this bug discovered again?
Evam Mar 11 @ 10:41am

モン000スター Mar 11 @ 8:24am
it doesnt really work, weight still goes down at same rate as before mod
DreadLordNaf  [author] Feb 16 @ 6:17am
@Rex87 - The vanilla "rates" arent actually shown, only multipliers on the vanilla rates. The only thing this mod does is add a decrease rate on the replicated formula for just walking. That was done through the line in the mod that adds the .22 modifier. If you remove that then everything else should be vanilla. If you want to change your own stuff around for idling, runing, or walking, mess around with adding your own decrease rates in that same section.
Rex87 Feb 15 @ 11:36am
what are the exact vanilla values? and what I should edit? because not sure which are passive calories and which sitting and walking, I wanted to change burn rate of everything to be exactly 10 times less, unless there are vanilla values already but with only fixed walking calorie burn rate

I play with 2 hour days becuase 1 hour feels way too short, and calorie burn rate isn't affected by day length so with 10 times less burn rate on 2 hour days would be actually 5 times less which for me would be ideal burn rate because I always have negative 2200 calories so I never gain weight unless I stand still for days while eating butter which isn't fun and keeping character fit isn't difficult
DreadLordNaf  [author] Feb 13 @ 4:43am
@tilarium - Thanks for clarifying
tilarium Feb 13 @ 2:04am
@DeadGrunt Wasn't this mod. The initial B42.3 update introduced a couple of instances that would set calories to nan. The nan calories prevent characters from gaining or losing calories. Again, has nothing to do with this mod, it was a vanilla issue that is supposedly fixed now. Not sure if that fix will effect existing games or not though.
DreadGrunt Feb 12 @ 7:25pm
Follow up on that, I loaded the game up in debug mode after disabling the mod and my calories were set to NaN and I had to manually change it. I'm pretty certain it was this mod that did something because the only other ones I have do not touch these numbers at all. I'm not sure what could have done it, but something in 42.3 must have changed.
DreadGrunt Feb 12 @ 6:04pm
Heya, dropping a comment that the mod also seems to be turning calories off for me. I'm neither gaining nor losing weight no matter what I do. Not sure what the conflict (if any) could be because I only have a small handful of mods on, but it's not just something unique to Orii7's game.
DreadLordNaf  [author] Feb 12 @ 3:58pm
@Orii7 - That's not much to go on. The mod hasnt changed since it was originally made so nothing should affect anything else unless a mod conflict, or unless 42.3 changed something with calories,, which I dont think it did?
Orii7 Feb 12 @ 2:47pm
It shows up for me, but it seems to make it so calories are off
DreadLordNaf  [author] Feb 12 @ 10:18am
You guys sure you can't see it on 42.3? I made the file structure 42.x.x version neutral in theory and it shows up for me when I boot up 42.3. Can someone else confirm if you cant see it?
Evam Feb 12 @ 6:46am
VVVVVVV duuuude the update came out TWO SECONDS AGO HAVE SOME PATIENCE LMAOOO
≫ Dasfer Jan 30 @ 5:58pm
amazing mod but now if I fish I gain weight all the time lol hope the devs fix the calories overall now that b42 is out
Kherbyne Jan 26 @ 10:13am
This mod refuses to show up in the mod loader
homeworld Jan 24 @ 8:13pm
Very, very nice! Thanks for making this! :cherrypie:
W3VO Jan 23 @ 4:00pm
Gracias! por actualizar:spiffo:
Seniohre Jan 23 @ 8:48am
Thanks, this mod saved my life. It's totally insane how the vanilla game thinks that just walking two blocks means the character already burned 200 calories.
