The main script file currently only opens for Immortal Empires campaigns, but I see no technical reason why it *shouldn't* work if I activated it for Old World. I will check with ChaosRobie to see about updating this.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad the mod feels the way it was meant to and that people are enjoying it.
As for the script break, I've done some testing with this version and haven't come across it yet. Do you have the log file, by chance? Is it whenever you click on any Bretonnian lord? Only when playing as Bretonnia? Are there any specific circumstances required? Any info would be handy.
HIGHLIGHT: All Bretonnian Legendary Lords now receive a unique bonus specific to this mod as part of their faction effects:
-- Louen Leoncoeur can directly recruit Knights of the Realm from the start of the game.
-- The Fay Enchantress can directly upgrade Questing Knights to Grail Guardians, skipping the Grail Knight stage if desired.
-- Alberic de Bordeleaux's knights retain ALL of their experience when upgrading from Knights Errant to Knights of the Realm.
-- Repanse de Lyonesse can raise Foot Squires to knightly status, able to upgrade those who have reached Rank 7 directly into Questing Knights.
Full change notes listed in the change notes section.
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it.
Mod has been checked for compatibility with 6.1.1, no issues detected. I will be doing a substantive update in the near future that will add some unique recruiting bonuses for each Legendary Lord. Repanse, for example, will uniquely be able to promote Foot Squires directly to Questing Knights.
@Salix:
I have no plan to implement an upgrade system for peasants, as it goes against one of my primary design goal for this mod, which is to greater differentiate knight units from peasant units. That said, you may be interested in BAGHolder's general upgrades mod, which I linked in the description. He opens the Warband system up to all races and units.
- No changes, just compatibility assurance
Correct, the AI is not capable of using it.
Very cool mod otherwise
This mod should work as-is in 3.0. I have checked the pack file, and it all looks good. That said, I will be providing an update in the near future to fix a couple of minor bugs that I found. In the meantime, you can still use it.
Thank you!
The mod has been updated to Version 1.1. Based on player feedback, this version expands upgrades so that they are available globally as soon as the required building is built anywhere, but upgrading outside a province containing the building will come at a cost premium (+100%), just like global recruitment. Special skills from Louen Leoncoeur and The Fay Enchantress which previously increased recruitment rank for advanced knights have been altered so that these benefits apply when upgrading to these units as well. Check out the change notes page for full details.
Producing a system that is equivalent to what is available in vanilla was not a design goal for this mod. The whole point is to make the progression of knight units more like how it is in the lore, where junior knights must get battlefield experience before progressing and cannot simply be trained to be Grail Knights, for example.
That said, your feedback has made me think that perhaps the system would benefit from allowing global upgrades (i.e., upgrades away from provinces with the right buildings) at an increased cost, kind of like how global recruitment works ordinarily. The building would still be required somewhere, but you would no longer be forced to upgrade only within that province. Do you think this would be an improvement?
Thanks for trying the mod! An important component of this mod is that it restricts direct recruitment for all Bretonnian knight units except for Knights Errant, so you cannot simply disband these units and recruit new ones at a much higher XP rank. To gain access to higher-level knights using this mod, you *must* go through the upgrade system.
The changes made by this mod only apply to human players. The AI will recruit normally without restrictions (the AI cannot use the upgrade system).
If you like this mod, please give it a positive rating! I'm very close to the minimum required for the rating to show up in search, which helps immensely with gaining visibility. Thanks for the support!
That would go against the main design goal of this mod, which is to require that Bretonnian knight units get battlefield experience before the player gets access to advanced versions. What you're describing is pretty much what BAGHolder's mod (linked in description) does, though. You may want to check that out!
I'm working on that now. I think there may be a conflict with the building changes -- which I hope to work with Lily to alleviate -- but otherwise all seems good.
