This (<) is the part i'm referring to.
Especially when I accidentally walk into the path of a plasma grenade that was KOBE'D from grunt 50 yards out, only to be set back 30 minutes after kicking ass with my fire breathing shotgun that I found from checking every nook and cranny of the map. All in all this is a great mod even more so if you love to explore these maps completely for those dopamine filled secrets. Hats off to you guys for the hard work and love y'all put into this for everyone here to experience! Also I played on Heroic difficulty in case anyone is curious.
Just got done with this amazing mod, the only critique I have is some of the checkpoints in certain levels i.e Two Betrayals and 343 Guilty Spark can set you back 20-30 minutes of game play. I don't know about anyone else but one my favorites things about these Halo CE campaign mods are the unique Easter eggs, encounters, hidden weapons, etc that the devs add into them. That of which this team made oh so enjoyable to find and interact with! Reading the other comments i can see I'm not the only one and this issue is by no means a deal breaker, but instead just a cause of minor frustration.
However, the crashing is not an us thing. That's a hardware issue
On both TaR and AoTCR, i had long sections of the levels where not a single checkpoint was granted, on AoTCR this happened during the vehicle section of the level.
Form the point at which you first exit into the first large canyon with the scorpion in it, all the way to the interior section at the end, the game didn't give me a single checkpoint, only for me to get randomly stuck by a grunt and have the game reload ALL THE WAY BACK to before exiting into the canyon with the scorpion.
I lost over an hour and 20 minutes of gameplay due to this.
This mod is in serious need of bug testing and QA fixes, until that happens I cannot recommend the mod to anyone to download, especially not if you intend to play on anything harder then normal difficulty.
This became most noticeable in the first hunter encounter on AoTCR, as the instant i opened the door to the room, all of the elites and one of the hunters rushed me, and trapped me in the corridor, making me unable to leave.
The Hunter was so aggressive it followed me back into the previous area before getting stuck in the transition point in the hallway, and subsequently bugged out and killing himself with his own cannon, due to his arm clipping into the wall.
Another problem, which personally has been the final straw for me with this mod, is the complete lack of checkpoints for massive swaths of levels.
On TaR in addition to the before mentioned issues, i was also experiencing rampant crashing whenever transitioning to a new area of the map, or whenever the game would attempt to save a checkpoint, i crashed no less then 6 times in this level because of it.
The issues with enemy detection continues on to AoTCR, it is literally impossible to stealth through sections with sleeping grunts as the instant you kill one, others will wake up and start combat with you, alerting the entire area.
Another issues I've seen is that enemies have an extreme level of aggression, as soon as you enter into a combat encounter, so long as they can find a path to you, all of the enemies in the area will rush forward and engage in combat
Enemies will see you immediately and instantly go on alert as soon as you fire your weapon or they detect you killing one of their allies.
Also the marines do not properly wait for you to head on ahead and attempt to clear the area before they engage in combat.
in the transition to the second area (where cortana says "stop, enemy detected up ahead") the odst rush forward and immediately begin firing at the turret and enemy's positioned nearby, essential trapping you into a choke point until you take them out.
Please do a once over of this mission and make sure all of the levels scripting and encounter orders are working properly.
10/10, i dont know if you plan on doing something similar with other Halo games, but i wish you did.
BUT OVERALL I NEED TO GIVE TO THIS MOD 5/5. Amazing work and thanks for a special feelings.
AI of enemies and allies is also really good, they are agressive when you are low on hp, pressure you hard and dont give you that much time to react. What is also fine and its not in lore, that sentiels are with covenent, because of sides wants to save a ring. Be with grunts and jackals in 343 guilty spark also feels special. Same with Library.
I do wish this mod could be tweaked to make Legendary more fair though. That would really bring out this mod's full potential in my opinion.
Weapon changes are gimmicks. The assault rifle, the best killing machine against groups of enemies in CE, becomes useless from its TTK against shielded foes. Shotguns are bugged too: enemies carrying one will drop it at half ammo with no reserves. A shotgun in your inventory also won't replenish its ammo from it. The magnum is useless against flood, made worse by getting easily swarmed. No point to carrying UNSC weaponry, since plasma weapons outperform them. The takeaway here isn't to nerf plasma weapons to compensate.
4.5/10 at best.
