i think 'come out as trans' is a bit of an innacurate name for how it would have been historically as that wasn't really a concept, it'd probably be more like 'contemplate your gender/self' or something along those lines. also i gurantee this is impossible but getting it to display the female title equivalent would be great since changing the gender would be even more impossible

I don't play CK3 much anymore and am fairly busy irl, and archaeaorbacteria / trhgam (the actual mod author, I'm just helping host because they didn't initially have a steam account) has been offline for awhile to, so I'm sorry but I don't think this mod is going to be updated anytime soon.

@floatingjirachi, that's definitely an interesting consideration and I will pass it on to the author next time they're online :) but I'm unsure how active they have been in modding recently.

I'd do it myself tbh but unlike most it seems transitioning has not granted me infinite knowledge on how to figure out computer programming or making mods :p

Kinda love this mod but I hope in the future that aspects like cultural genders will be incorporated as well. Like the label "transgender" may have not been created until the 19th century but many of us have and/or continue to be members of various cultural genders to reflect our gender variance.
I'd recommend looking up groups like the 'Femminiello' of Sicily and Southern Italy as reference to the kind of cultural genders that would exist in the timeline of CK3. Like I'd hope these these cultural genders might get their own trait as part of cultures with each having certain social, religious, and political roles depending on their culture of origin and religion.

Not being rude but whats the point of the mod if it you can choose your gender. transgender people do not want to be their original gender therefore the mod makes no sense.

This looks cool, but it could be better. Religions that held a negative view on transgenderism, such as some Christian faiths, should reflect a negative stance towards characters with this trait. Religions that maintained a neutral or non-opinionated stance on transgenderism, like Buddhism, certain Islamic religions (e.g., Mukhannath), and certain Hinduist beliefs to some extent, should neither have a positive nor negative opinion. Lastly, religions that embraced transgenderism positively should portray characters with this trait as virtous, like in your image.

Also, the trait Transgender on Heliogabalus is inaccurate and based on historical gossip. Most sources agree that early texts discussing his transgender trait were intended as insults and hit pieces agaisnt his image, and not based on factual information.

This mod does continue to work for 1.11.x Peacock.

@xandl-hofer, that might be beyond the scope of this mod, and both archaeaorbacteria are on somewhat of a modding hiatus, but i'll mention the request to them next time they're online :)

request: could you also add hermaphrodte and an inheritable trait both for trans, gay/lesbian and hermaphrodite? and make them fertile and marriable. So family and dynasty dynamics would be much more interesting?

@Alapama It ishistorical. Take the Indian sub-continent and the Hijra people. A third gender is mentioned in the Kama Sutra, and there is extensive evidence of a recognised third gender in both the Delhi Sultanate and the Muhgal Empire.

Thanks for the mod OP and archaeaorbacteria! simple but we've needed a mod like this and it's very appreciated. Hopefully one day we'll see mods representing historical trans experiences from this time period, but that'd be quite the undertaking

It's a shame that it's so barebones. Mods like the Elder Kings and Ethnicities and Portraits Expanded do a lot to mess with how character DNA is interpreted, is there any chance that your friend could slip into there and just flip a switch to change how the renderer interprets the gender of the character if they have the trait?

@Clumsy0015, I'd assume a game rule would be possible but I am not the author so it's not my role to make that change :) I'm also not sure if that's the direction the author wants to go, but I've linked the author's reddit to the side of the steam page, if you want to suggest it there instead.

Would it be possible to make a game rule where the AI cannot decide to take the decision? I want to play as a Trans character but it is immersion breaking when other medieval rules start coming out as trans. That, or maybe you could make it a religious doctrine so that I can make a custom faith accepting of trans people, and then people of that religion can come out as transgender?

@Ashadar, well it's good to hear that it isn't hard-coded and I'll try to look into that (though I'm also not the author of this mod, just uploading it with their permission, so I can't make any promises that anything will be added to this one).

also the reason they don't allow "futa" mods is because its too "sexual" and yes when you hear futa you likely think hentai but the word futanari is just the japannese word for hermaphodite so seying that the term futa or the word futanari is too "sexual" is just racist on paradox's part and tho hermaphodites and trans are not the same thing to the shock of many hentai fans they sadly are in the eyes of paradox when it comes to mods

i think it's more that paradox is transphobic based off what iv seen across the internet about mods like this, they don't even let modders post mods like that to steam meaning to even find mods like that you have to go to lover slab which i just looked to see if there were any new mods posted that add trans people to the game and seems there's a sex mod that "does" so clearly the hard coded thing isn't the case wish it wasn't apart of a sex mod tho would rather it just be stand alone but ill take what i can get hopefully the sex stuff isn't to in my face and i can just act like it isn't there as i don't care bout it, hopefully someday paradox will remove there rules when it comes to trans and futa mods so we can have a true transgender mod on steam someday

@Ashadar, unfortunately there are limits to what mods are able to do :( if a deeper and more genuine approach to being transgender was possible, it would definitely be something i'd work on, but I think certain elements that relate are hard coded

i'm just looking for a mod that lets me play as a trans character closes iv found is a mod that make every male look female and that isn't what i want, its close but i don't want everyone looking female

@Ashadar: All the mod does is add the trait, which adds a small stress loss modifier and a same-trait opinion modifier. Presentation, ability to get pregnant, and the icons for sex and attraction are not affected.

Please do not invalidate Elliot Page's gender or dead name him, nor imply that transgender people are not actually trans.

How does this mod work when it comes to the gender of the characters like if i have a female character and then give them the trait would they be able to make a kid with another female character? Or is this i'm "trans" because i say i am even tho i'm really not like people like Ellen Page?
